Amaseia yn frenin Jwda
(2 Brenhinoedd 14:2-6) 1Roedd Amaseia'n ddau ddeg pum mlwydd oed pan ddaeth yn frenin, a bu'n frenin am ddau ddeg naw o flynyddoedd. Enw ei fam oedd Iehoadan, ac roedd hi'n dod o Jerwsalem. 2Roedd yn gwneud beth oedd yn plesio'r Arglwydd, er, doedd e ddim yn hollol ffyddlon. 3Wedi iddo wneud yn siŵr fod ei afael ar y deyrnas yn ddiogel, dyma fe'n dienyddio'r swyddogion hynny oedd wedi llofruddio ei dad, y brenin. 4Ond wnaeth e ddim lladd eu plant nhw, am mai dyna oedd sgrôl Moses yn ei ddweud. Dyma'r gorchymyn oedd yr Arglwydd wedi ei roi: “Ddylai rhieni ddim cael eu lladd am droseddau eu plant, na'r plant am droseddau eu tadau. Y troseddwr ei hun ddylai farw.” ▼▼25:4 Deuteronomium 24:16
Rhyfel yn erbyn Edom
(2 Brenhinoedd 14:7) 5Dyma Amaseia'n casglu dynion Jwda at ei gilydd a rhoi trefn ar ei fyddin drwy benodi capteniaid ar unedau o fil a capteiniaid ar unedau o gant, a gosod teuluoedd Jwda a Benjamin yn yr unedau hynny. Dyma fe'n cyfrif y rhai oedd yn ddau ddeg oed neu'n hŷn, ac roedd yna 300,000 o ddynion da yn barod i ymladd gyda gwaywffyn a thariannau. 6Talodd dros dair mil cilogram o arian i gyflogi can mil o filwyr o Israel hefyd. 7Ond daeth proffwyd ato a dweud, “O Frenin, paid mynd â milwyr Israel allan gyda ti. Dydy'r Arglwydd ddim gyda Israel, sef dynion Effraim. 8Hyd yn oed os byddi'n ymladd yn galed, bydd Duw yn gadael i dy elynion ennill y frwydr. Mae Duw yn gallu helpu byddin a threchu byddin.” 9“Ond dw i wedi talu arian mawr i fyddin Israel – dros dair mil cilogram o arian,” meddai Amaseia. A dyma'r proffwyd yn ateb, “Mae'r Arglwydd yn gallu rhoi lot mwy na hynny i ti.” 10Felly dyma Amaseia'n anfon y milwyr oedd wedi dod o Effraim adre. Roedden nhw'n ddig gyda Jwda, a dyma nhw'n mynd yn ôl i'w gwlad eu hunain wedi gwylltio'n lân. 11Yna dyma Amaseia'n magu plwc ac arwain ei fyddin i ryfel yn Nyffryn yr Halen, a lladd deg mil o filwyr Edom. 12Roedden nhw wedi dal deg mil arall yn fyw. Dyma nhw'n eu harwain i ben clogwyn a'u gwthio dros yr ymyl, a cawson nhw i gyd eu lladd ar y creigiau islaw. 13Yn y cyfamser dyma'r milwyr oedd Amaseia wedi eu hanfon adre yn ymosod ar drefi Jwda rhwng Samaria a Beth-choron. Cafodd tair mil o bobl eu lladd ganddyn nhw a dyma nhw'n dwyn lot fawr o ysbail. 14Ar ôl ennill y frwydr yn erbyn byddin Edom, dyma Amaseia'n dod â'u duwiau nhw gydag e. Gwnaeth nhw'n dduwiau iddo'i hun, a'u haddoli a llosgi arogldarth o'u blaen. 15Roedd yr Arglwydd yn ddig gydag Amaseia a dyma fe'n anfon proffwyd ato gyda'r neges yma, “Pam wyt ti'n troi at y duwiau yma oedd yn methu achub eu pobl eu hunain o dy afael?” 16Ond dyma Amaseia yn torri ar ei draws. “Ydw i wedi dy benodi di yn gynghorwr brenhinol? Cau dy geg! Neu bydda i'n gorchymyn i ti gael dy ladd!” Dyma'r proffwyd yn stopio, ond yna ychwanegu, “Bydd Duw yn dy ladd di am wneud hyn a peidio gwrando arna i.”Rhyfel yn erbyn Israel
(2 Brenhinoedd 14:8-20) 17Yna dyma Amaseia, brenin Jwda, yn derbyn cyngor ei gynghorwyr, ac yn anfon neges at Jehoas brenin Israel (mab Jehoachas ac ŵyr Jehw). Y neges oedd, “Tyrd, gad i ni wynebu'n gilydd mewn brwydr.” 18Dyma Jehoas, brenin Israel, yn anfon neges yn ôl at Amaseia yn dweud: “Un tro yn Libanus dyma ddraenen fach yn afon neges at goeden gedrwydd fawr i ddweud, ‘Rho dy ferch yn wraig i fy mab i.’ Ond dyma anifail gwyllt yn dod heibio a sathru'r ddraenen dan draed!19Ti'n dweud dy fod wedi gorchfygu Edom, ond mae wedi mynd i dy ben di! Mwynha dy lwyddiant nawr ac aros adre. Wyt ti'n edrych am drwbwl? Dw i'n dy rybuddio di, byddi di a dy deyrnas yn syrthio gyda'ch gilydd!”
20Ond doedd Amaseia ddim am wrando. (Duw oedd tu ôl i'r peth – roedd e am i'r gelyn eu gorchfygu nhw am eu bod nhw wedi mynd ar ôl duwiau Edom). 21Felly dyma Jehoas, brenin Israel, yn mynd i ryfel yn ei erbyn. Dyma nhw'n dod wyneb yn wyneb yn Beth-shemesh ar dir Jwda. 22Byddin Israel wnaeth ennill y frwydr, a dyma filwyr Jwda i gyd yn dianc am adre. 23Roedd Jehoas, brenin Israel, wedi dal Amaseia, brenin Jwda, yn Beth-shemesh. A dyma fe'n mynd ag e i Jerwsalem a chwalu waliau'r ddinas o Giât Effraim at Giât y Gornel, pellter o bron i ddau can metr. 24Yna dyma fe'n cymryd yr holl aur ac arian, a'r llestri oedd yn y deml dan ofal Obed-Edom. Cymerodd drysorau'r palas hefyd, a gwystlon, cyn mynd yn ôl i Samaria. 25Cafodd Amaseia fab Joas, brenin Jwda, fyw am un deg pump o flynyddoedd ar ôl i Jehoas, brenin Israel, farw. 26Mae gweddill hanes Amaseia, o'r dechrau i'r diwedd, i'w gael yn y sgrôl Brenhinoedd Jwda ac Israel. 27Pan wnaeth e droi cefn ar yr Arglwydd dyma rhywrai yn Jerwsalem yn cynllwynio yn ei erbyn, a dyma fe'n dianc i Lachish. Ond dyma nhw'n anfon dynion ar ei ôl a'i ladd yno. 28Dyma'r corff yn cael ei gymryd yn ôl ar geffylau, a cafodd ei gladdu yn Ninas Dafydd gyda'i hynafiaid.

How do I do a word study?

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
