Cadarnhau ymrwymiad Duw yn Sichem
1Dyma Josua yn galw llwythau Israel i gyd at ei gilydd yn Sichem. Galwodd y cynghorwyr a'r arweinwyr i gyd, y barnwyr, a'r swyddogion, a mynd â nhw i sefyll o flaen Duw. 2Yna dwedodd wrth y bobl, “Dyma mae'r Arglwydd, Duw Israel, yn ei ddweud: Yn bell, bell yn ôl roedd eich hynafiaid (hyd at Tera, tad Abraham a Nachor) yn byw yr ochr draw i'r Afon Ewffrates. Roedden nhw'n addoli duwiau eraill. 3Ond dyma fi'n cymryd Abraham o'r wlad honno, a dod ag e i wlad Canaan, a rhoi lot fawr o ddisgynyddion iddo. Rhoddais ei fab Isaac iddo, 4a wedyn rhoi Jacob ac Esau i Isaac. Cafodd Esau fyw ar fryniau Seir. Ond aeth Jacob a'i feibion i lawr i'r Aifft.5Wedyn dyma fi'n anfon Moses ac Aaron i'ch arwain chi allan o wlad yr Aifft, a taro pobl yr Aifft gyda plâu. 6Pan ddes i â'ch hynafiaid chi allan o'r Aifft dyma nhw'n cyrraedd y môr, ac roedd marchogion a cherbydau rhyfel yr Eifftiaid wedi dod ar eu holau. 7dyma'ch hynafiaid yn gweiddi ar yr Arglwydd am help, a dyma fi'n rhoi tywyllwch rhyngoch chi a nhw, ac yn eu boddi nhw yn y môr. Gwelsoch gyda'ch llygaid eich hunain beth wnes i i'r Aifft.Wedyn buoch chi'n byw yn yr anialwch am flynyddoedd lawer. 8Yna dyma fi'n dod â chi i dir yr Amoriaid, sef y bobl oedd yn byw i'r dwyrain o'r Afon Iorddonen. Dyma nhw'n ymladd yn eich erbyn chi, ond dyma fi'n eu dinistrio nhw'n llwyr o'ch blaenau chi. b Chi gafodd ennill y frwydr, a concro eu tir nhw.
9Roedd Balac fab Sippor, brenin Moab, yn paratoi i ymosod ar Israel, ac wedi cael Balaam fab Beor i'ch melltithio chi. c 10Ond wnes i ddim gwrando ar Balaam. Yn lle hynny dyma fe'n proffwydo pethau da amdanoch chi dro ar ôl tro! Fi wnaeth eich achub chi oddi wrtho.
11Wedyn, ar ôl i chi groesi'r Afon Iorddonen dyma chi'n dod i Jericho. Daeth arweinwyr Jericho i ymladd yn eich erbyn chi, a'r Amoriaid, Peresiaid, Canaaneaid, Hethiaid, Girgasiaid, Hefiaid a Jebwsiaid hefyd, ond dyma fi'n gwneud i chi ennill. 12Dyma fi'n achosi panig llwyr, a gyrru dau frenin yr Amoriaid allan o'ch blaen chi. Fi wnaeth ennill y frwydr i chi, nid eich arfau rhyfel chi. 13Fi wnaeth roi'r tir i chi. Wnaethoch chi ddim gweithio amdano, a wnaethoch chi ddim adeiladu'r trefi. Dych chi'n bwyta ffrwyth gwinllannoedd a choed olewydd wnaethoch chi mo'i plannu.
14“Felly byddwch yn ufudd i'r Arglwydd, a'i addoli o ddifrif. Taflwch i ffwrdd y duwiau hynny roedd eich hynafiaid yn eu haddoli yr ochr arall i'r Afon Ewffrates, a duwiau'r Aifft. Addolwch yr Arglwydd. 15Os nad ydych chi eisiau addoli'r Arglwydd, penderfynwch heddiw pwy dych chi am ei addoli – y duwiau roedd eich hynafiaid yn eu haddoli yr ochr arall i'r Ewffrates, neu dduwiau'r Amoriaid dych chi'n byw yn eu tir nhw. Ond dw i a'm teulu yn mynd i addoli'r Arglwydd!” 16Dyma'r bobl yn ymateb, “Fydden ni ddim yn meiddio troi cefn ar yr Arglwydd i addoli duwiau eraill! 17Yr Arglwydd ein Duw wnaeth ein hachub ni a'n hynafiaid o fod yn gaethweision yn yr Aifft, a gwneud gwyrthiau rhyfeddol o flaen ein llygaid. Fe wnaeth ein cadw ni'n saff ar y daith, wrth i ni basio trwy dir gwahanol bobl. 18Yr Arglwydd wnaeth yrru'r bobloedd i gyd allan o'n blaenau ni, gan gynnwys yr Amoriaid oedd yn byw yn y wlad yma. Felly dŷn ni hefyd am addoli'r Arglwydd. Ein Duw ni ydy e.” 19Yna dyma Josua yn rhybuddio'r bobl, “Wnewch chi ddim dal ati i addoli'r Arglwydd. Mae e'n Dduw sanctaidd. Mae e'n Dduw eiddigeddus. Fydd e ddim yn maddau i chi am wrthryfela a pechu yn ei erbyn. 20Mae e wedi bod mor dda atoch chi! Os byddwch chi'n troi cefn arno ac yn addoli duwiau eraill, bydd e'n troi yn eich erbyn chi, yn achosi trychineb ac yn eich dinistrio chi!” 21Ond dyma'r bobl yn dweud wrth Josua, “Na! Dŷn ni'n mynd i addoli'r Arglwydd!” 22Felly dyma Josua yn gofyn i'r bobl, “Ydych chi'n derbyn eich bod chi'n atebol iddo ar ôl gwneud y penderfyniad yma i addoli'r Arglwydd?” A dyma nhw'n dweud, “Ydyn, dŷn ni'n atebol.” 23“Iawn,” meddai Josua, “taflwch y duwiau eraill sydd gynnoch chi i ffwrdd, a rhoi eich hunain yn llwyr i'r Arglwydd, Duw Israel.” 24A dyma'r bobl yn dweud wrth Josua, “Dŷn ni'n mynd i addoli'r Arglwydd ein Duw, a gwrando arno.” 25Felly dyma Josua yn gwneud cytundeb gyda'r bobl, a gosod rheolau a canllawiau iddyn nhw yn Sichem. 26A dyma fe'n ysgrifennu'r cwbl yn Sgrôl Cyfraith Duw. Wedyn dyma fe'n cymryd carreg fawr, a'i gosod i fyny o dan y goeden dderwen oedd wrth ymyl cysegr yr Arglwydd. 27A dyma fe'n dweud wrth y bobl, “Mae'r garreg yma wedi clywed popeth mae'r Arglwydd wedi ei ddweud wrthon ni. Bydd yn dyst yn eich erbyn chi os gwnewch chi droi cefn ar Dduw.” 28Yna dyma Josua yn gadael i'r bobl fynd, a dyma nhw i gyd yn mynd adre i'w tir eu hunain.

29Yn fuan wedyn, dyma Josua fab Nwn, gwas yr Arglwydd yn marw. Roedd yn gant a deg mlwydd oed. 30Dyma nhw'n ei gladdu ar ei dir ei hun yn Timnath-serach ym mryniau Effraim, i'r gogledd o Fynydd Gaash. 31Tra roedd Josua'n fyw roedd pobl Israel yn addoli'r Arglwydd. A dyma nhw'n dal ati i'w addoli pan oedd yr arweinwyr eraill o'r un genhedlaeth yn dal yn fyw – y dynion oedd wedi gweld drostyn nhw eu hunain y cwbl wnaeth yr Arglwydd i bobl Israel. 32Roedd pobl Israel wedi cario esgyrn Joseff o'r Aifft, a dyma nhw'n eu claddu yn Sichem, ar y darn o dir roedd Jacob wedi ei brynu am gant o ddarnau arian gan feibion Hamor, tad Sichem. d Roedd y tir hwnnw yn rhan o diriogaeth disgynyddion Joseff. 33Pan fuodd Eleasar fab Aaron farw, dyma nhw'n ei gladdu yn Gibea ym mryniau Effraim, ar y tir oedd wedi cael ei roi i'w fab Phineas.

How do I do a word study?

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
