Hành Trình Truyền Giáo Thứ Nhì của Phao-lô
1Lần đầu Phao-lô đến thành Đẹt-bơ và Lít-trơ, tại Lít-trơ có một tính hữu trẻ tên Ti-mô-thê. Mẹ cậu là tín hữu Do Thái, nhưng cha là người Hy lạp. 2Anh em ở Lít-trơ và Y-cô-ni đều khen ngợi cậu, 3vì vậy, Phao-lô muốn đem Ti-mô-thê theo, nên ông làm lễ cắt bì cho cậu. Vì người Do Thái ở các nơi ấy đều biết cha cậu là người Hy Lạp. 4Đoàn truyền giáo đến thành phố nào cũng bảo các tín hữu phải vâng giữ quyết nghị của các sứ đồ và các trưởng lão tại Giê-ru-sa-lem. 5Vậy đức tin của các Hội Thánh càng vững mạnh và mỗi ngày số tín hữu càng gia tăng.Tiếng Gọi từ Ma-xê-đoan
6Sau đó, Phao-lô và Si-la qua các xứ Phi-ri-gi và Ga-la-ti, vì Chúa Thánh Linh không cho giảng đạo ở Tiểu Á trong thời gian ấy. 7Khi đến ngang My-si-a, họ định vào xứ Bi-thi-ni nhưng Thánh Linh của Chúa Giê-xu không cho phép, 8nên họ vượt qua xứ My-si-a xuống thành Trô-ách. 9Đêm ấy, Phao-lô thấy khải tượng: Một người Ma-xê-đoan đứng trước mặt ông van nài: “Xin đến xứ Ma-xê-đoan cứu giúp chúng tôi.” 10Được khải tượng ấy, chúng tôi tìm cách đi Ma-xê-đoan ngay, vì tin chắc Đức Chúa Trời bảo chúng tôi truyền giảng Phúc Âm tại đó.Ly-đi tại Phi-líp Tin Chúa Giê-xu
11Từ Trô-ách, chúng tôi đáp tàu thẳng qua Sa-mô-trắc, ngày sau tới Nê-a-bô-li, 12rồi đến Phi-líp, thành phố của tỉnh Ma-xê-đoan, thuộc địa La Mã Chúng tôi ở lại đây nhiều ngày. 13Ngày Sa-bát chúng tôi ra ngoài thành, đến bên bờ sông là nơi người ta họp nhau cầu nguyện. Chúng tôi ngồi giảng giải Phúc Âm cho các phụ nữ đang họp. 14Có bà Ly-đi, quê ở Thi-a-ti-rơ, buôn vải nhuộm, là người sùng kính Đức Chúa Trời. Được Chúa mở tâm trí, bà chăm chú nghe Phao-lô giảng dạy. 15Cả gia đình bà đều chịu báp-tem. Bà mời chúng tôi về nhà: “Nếu các ông thấy tôi có lòng tin Chúa, xin kính mời các ông ở lại nhà tôi.”Phao-lô và Si-la trong Tù
16Một hôm, chúng tôi đến chỗ cầu nguyện bên bờ sông, gặp một đầy tớ gái bị quỷ ám, có thể bói số nên kiếm được nhiều tiền cho chủ. 17Cô theo sau Phao-lô và chúng tôi, luôn miệng kêu lên: “Các ông này là đầy tớ của Đức Chúa Trời Chí Cao, đến đây giảng đạo cứu rỗi.” 18Việc này cứ xảy ra nhiều ngày liên tiếp đến nỗi Phao-lô phiền lắm, quay lại bảo quỷ: “Nhân danh Chúa Cứu Thế Giê-xu, ta truyền bảo ngươi phải ra khỏi người này!” Lập tức quỷ bị trục xuất. 19Những người chủ thấy không còn dùng cô để kiếm lợi được nữa, liền bắt Phao-lô và Si-la, đưa đến quảng trường. 20Họ kéo hai ông đến trước các phán quan, vu cáo rằng: “Mấy người Do Thái này làm loạn trong thành phố chúng ta. 21Họ xúi giục dân chúng làm những điều trái luật La Mã!” 22Dân chúng cũng nổi dậy chống đối hai ông, nên các phán quan ra lệnh lột áo và đánh đòn. 23Sau khi bị đánh đập tàn nhẫn, hai ông bị giam vào ngục. Viên giám ngục được lệnh canh gác nghiêm mật. 24Nên viên giám ngục đem giam hai ông vào phòng tối và cùm chân lại. 25Khoảng nửa đêm, Phao-lô và Si-la cầu nguyện và ca ngợi Chúa; các tù nhân đều lắng nghe. 26Thình lình có trận động đất dữ dội. Nền ngục thất rung chuyển. Tất cả cửa ngục đều mở tung. Xiềng xích bị tháo rời ra cả. 27Giám ngục thức giấc, thấy các cửa ngục đều mở, tưởng các tù nhân đã trốn thoát nên ông rút gươm tự sát, 28nhưng Phao-lô kêu lớn: “Đừng hủy mình! Chúng tôi còn cả đây!” 29Giám ngục sai lấy đèn rồi chạy vào phòng tối, run sợ quỳ dưới chân Phao-lô và Si-la. 30Ông đưa hai người ra ngoài, rồi hỏi: “Thưa các ông, tôi phải làm gì để được cứu rỗi?” 31Họ đáp: “Tin Chúa Giê-xu thì ông và cả nhà ông sẽ được cứu!” 32Hai ông giảng giải Đạo Chúa cho giám ngục và mọi người trong nhà. 33Ngay lúc đêm khuya, giám ngục đem hai ông đi rửa vết thương rồi lập tức tin Chúa và chịu báp-tem với cả gia đình. 34Giám ngục đưa hai ông về nhà, dọn tiệc khoản đãi và hết sức vui mừng vì mình và cả nhà đã tin Đức Chúa Trời. 35Đến sáng, các quan chức thành phố sai cảnh vệ đến nói với giám ngục: “Hãy phóng thích hai người ấy đi!” 36Giám ngục thuật lại cho Phao-lô: “Các quan chức thành phố truyền thả ông và Si-la. Vậy xin các ông ra đi bình an.” 37Nhưng Phao-lô đáp: “Chúng tôi có quốc tịch La Mã. Khi chưa thành án, người ta đã đánh đòn chúng tôi trước công chúng, rồi giam vào ngục. Bây giờ lại muốn chúng tôi âm thầm ra đi sao? Không được! Chính họ phải đến đưa chúng tôi ra.” 38Cảnh vệ báo lên các quan chức thành phố. Biết mình đã hành động trái luật đối với công dân La Mã, các quan chức thành phố sợ hãi, 39liền đến năn nỉ, đưa hai ông ra và xin rời khỏi thành phố. 40Ra khỏi ngục, Phao-lô và Si-la đến nhà Ly-đi, khích lệ anh em tín hữu, rồi lên đường.

How do I do a word study?

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
