Според юдейската традиция за автор на книгите на Летописите се приема Ездра, на когото се приписва и авторството на едноименната книга и на книгата Неемия. Възможно е той да е написал само част от текста, а останалата да е написана от неизвестен хронист. Най-вероятният период за съставяне на тези две книги е между 500-340 г. пр. Хр. Старогръцкият превод на Библията Септуагинта нарича тези книги Паралипоменон – книга на нещата, изоставени или пропуснати от предишните исторически книги на царете. Авторът на книгите често цитира книгите на Царете, Петокнижието, книгата на Съдиите, Рут, Псалми, Исайя, Йеремия, което означава, че той старателно е събирал текстове за своята книга както от официалните източници, така и от много други, останали неизвестни. В съдържанието книгите на Летописите могат да се посочат три основни теми: 1. Божият народ, тези, които принадлежат към наследниците на обещаната от Бога земя. 2. Царят и храмът, които в политически и религиозен смисъл са в основата на съществуването на Израил. 3. Божието благословение и осъждане на провинилите се. Създавайки своя труд, летописецът работи едновременно и като историк, и като богослов. Съдържанието на Първа книга на Летописите обхваща следните раздели: 1. Родословие на Божия народ, което започва от Адам и обхваща и завърналите се от плен (гл. 1 – 9). 2. Историята на обединеното царство по времето на царете Саул, Давид и Соломон (гл. 9 – 29). Целта на книгите на Летописите е да подкрепи и поощри върналите се от вавилонския плен юдеи, възстановявайки връзката им с предците и патриарсите за изграждането им като Божий народ. How do I do a word study?

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
