Asyria yn ymosod ar Jwda
(2 Brenhinoedd 18:13-37; 19:14-19,35-37; Eseia 36:1-22; 37:8-38) 1Ar ôl i Heseceia fod mor ffyddlon yn gwneud y pethau yma, dyma Senacherib, brenin Asyria yn ymosod ar Jwda. Dyma fe'n gwersylla o gwmpas y trefi amddiffynnol gyda'r bwriad o'u dal nhw. 2Pan welodd Heseceia fod Senacherib yn bwriadu ymosod ar Jerwsalem, 3dyma fe'n cyfarfod gyda'i swyddogion a'i arweinwyr milwrol a penderfynu cau'r ffynhonnau dŵr oedd tu allan i'r ddinas. 4Daeth tyrfa o weithwyr at ei gilydd i fynd ati i gau'r ffynhonnau i gyd, a'r nant oedd yn rhedeg trwy ganol y wlad. “Pam ddylai brenhinoedd Asyria gael digon o ddŵr pan maen nhw'n dod yma?” medden nhw. 5Wedyn dyma'r brenin Heseceia yn cryfhau'r amddiffynfeydd trwy drwsio'r waliau oedd wedi cwympo, codi tyrau amddiffynnol, adeiladu ail wal ar yr ochr allan, a chryfhau terasau dinas Dafydd. Gorchmynnodd wneud llawer iawn mwy o arfau a thariannau hefyd. 6Yna dyma fe'n penodi swyddogion milwrol dros y fyddin a'u casglu at ei gilydd yn y sgwâr o flaen giât y ddinas. A dyma fe'n eu hannog nhw a dweud, 7“Byddwch yn gryf a dewr! Peidiwch bod ag ofn a panicio am fod brenin Asyria a'i fyddin ar eu ffordd. Mae yna Un gyda ni sy'n gryfach na'r rhai sydd gyda fe. 8Dim ond cryfder dynol sydd ganddo fe, ond mae'r Arglwydd ein Duw gyda ni i'n helpu ni ac i ymladd ein brwydrau!” Roedd pawb yn teimlo'n well ar ôl clywed geiriau'r brenin. 9Pan oedd Senacherib, brenin Asyria, a'i fyddin yn ymosod ar Lachish, dyma fe'n anfon ei weision i Jerwsalem gyda neges i Heseceia brenin Jwda a phawb oedd yn byw yn y ddinas. Dyma oedd y neges: 10“Mae Senacherib brenin Asyria yn dweud, ‘Dw i wedi amgylchynu Jerwsalem. Beth sy'n eich gwneud chi mor siŵr y byddwch chi'n iawn? 11“Bydd yr Arglwydd ein Duw yn ein hachub ni o afael brenin Asyria,” meddai Heseceia. Ond mae e'n eich twyllo chi. Byddwch yn marw o newyn a syched! 12Onid ydy Heseceia wedi cael gwared â'i ganolfannau addoli lleol a'i allorau e, a dweud wrth bobl Jwda mai dim ond wrth un allor maen nhw i fod i addoli? 13Ydych chi ddim yn sylweddoli beth dw i a'm hynafiaid wedi ei wneud i'r holl wledydd eraill? Wnaeth duwiau'r gwledydd hynny fy rhwystro i rhag cymryd eu tiroedd nhw? 14Pa un o dduwiau'r gwledydd gafodd eu dinistrio gan fy hynafiaid wnaeth lwyddo i achub eu pobl o'm gafael i? Beth sy'n gwneud i chi feddwl y bydd eich Duw chi yn gwneud hynny? 15Felly peidiwch gadael i Heseceia eich twyllo a'ch camarwain chi. Peidiwch â'i gredu e. Wnaeth dim un o dduwiau'r gwledydd a'r teyrnasoedd eraill achub eu pobl o'n gafael ni. Felly pa obaith sydd gan eich duwiau chi o wneud hynny?’”16Aeth gweision Senacherib ymlaen i ddweud llawer mwy o bethau tebyg yn erbyn yr Arglwydd Dduw a'i was Heseceia. 17Roedd Senacherib wedi ysgrifennu pethau oedd yn gwneud hwyl am ben yr Arglwydd, Duw Israel, ac yn ei sarhau. “Doedd duwiau y gwledydd eraill ddim yn gallu achub eu pobl o'm gafael i. A fydd duw Heseceia ddim yn gallu achub ei bobl e chwaith.” 18Yna dyma'r negeswyr yn gweiddi'n uchel yn Hebraeg ar bobl Jerwsalem oedd ar y waliau. Y bwriad oedd eu dychryn nhw, fel bod Asyria'n gallu cymryd y ddinas. 19Roedden nhw'n siarad am Dduw Jerwsalem fel petai'n un o'r duwiau roedd pobl y gwledydd eraill wedi eu gwneud iddyn nhw eu hunain. 20Felly dyma'r Brenin Heseceia a'r proffwyd Eseia fab Amos yn gweddïo ar Dduw yn y nefoedd am y peth. 21A dyma'r Arglwydd yn anfon angel a lladd holl filwyr, capteniaid a swyddogion byddin Asyria. Ac roedd rhaid i Sechareia fynd yn ôl i'w wlad ei hun wedi ei gywilyddio. Aeth i mewn i deml ei dduw, a dyma rai o'i feibion ei hun yn ei daro i lawr a'i ladd gyda'r cleddyf. 22A dyna sut gwnaeth yr Arglwydd achub Heseceia a phobl Jerwsalem o afael Senacherib, brenin Asyria a phob gelyn arall o'u cwmpas. 23O'r adeg yna ymlaen roedd Heseceia'n cael ei barchu gan y gwledydd eraill i gyd. Roedd llawer yn dod i Jerwsalem i roi offrwm i'r Arglwydd ac anrhegion gwerthfawr i Heseceia, brenin Jwda.
Heseceia'n gwella ar ôl bod yn sâl
(2 Brenhinoedd 20:1-3,12-19; Eseia 38:1-3; 39:1-8) 24Tua'r adeg yna roedd Heseceia'n sâl. Roedd yn ddifrifol wael – a bu bron iddo farw. Dyma fe'n gweddïo ar yr Arglwydd, a dyma'r Arglwydd yn ei ateb a rhoi arwydd iddo y byddai'n gwella. 25Ond doedd Heseceia ddim wedi gwerthfawrogi beth wnaeth yr Arglwydd iddo. Roedd e'n falch, ac roedd yr Arglwydd yn ddig gydag e, a gyda Jwda a Jerwsalem. 26Ond ar ôl hynny roedd Heseceia'n sori am iddo fod mor falch, a phobl Jerwsalem hefyd. Felly doedd yr Arglwydd ddim yn ddig hefo nhw wedyn tra roedd Heseceia'n dal yn fyw.Cyfoeth Heseceia
27Roedd Heseceia'n gyfoethog iawn ac yn cael ei barchu'n fawr. Adeiladodd stordai i gadw ei holl eiddo – arian, aur, gemau gwerthfawr, perlysiau, tariannau a phob math o bethau gwerthfawr eraill. 28Adeiladodd ysguboriau i ddal y gwenith, y sudd grawnwin a'r olew; beudai i'r gwahanol anifeiliaid a chorlannau i'r defaid a'r geifr. 29Adeiladodd drefi lawer, a phrynu nifer fawr o ddefaid, geifr a gwartheg hefyd. Roedd Duw wedi ei wneud e'n hynod o gyfoethog. 30Heseceia hefyd gaeodd darddiad uchaf nant Gihon a chyfeirio'r dŵr i lawr i Ddinas Dafydd yn y gorllewin. Roedd Heseceia'n llwyddiannus beth bynnag roedd e'n wneud. 31Pan anfonodd swyddogion Babilon negeswyr ato i'w holi am yr arwydd oedd wedi digwydd yn y wlad, dyma'r Arglwydd yn gadael llonydd iddo, i'w brofi a gweld beth oedd ei gymhellion go iawn.Crynodeb o deyrnasiad Heseceia

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
