1A dyma Eliseus yn ateb, “Gwranda ar neges yr Arglwydd. ‘Dyma mae'r Arglwydd yn ei ddweud: Yr adeg yma fory, yn y farchnad wrth giât Samaria, bydd un darn arian yn ddigon i brynu sachaid o flawd mân, neu ddwy lond sach o haidd!’” 2Dyma swyddog agosa'r brenin, ei brif gynorthwywr, yn ateb proffwyd Duw. “Hyd yn oed petai'r Arglwydd yn agor llifddorau'r awyr iddi lawio ar y ddaear, allai hynny byth digwydd!” Ond dyma Eliseus ateb, “Cei weld y peth â dy lygaid dy hun, ond gei di ddim bwyta dim ohono.”Byddin Syria wedi gadael
3Tu allan i giât y ddinas roedd pedwar dyn oedd yn dioddef o glefyd heintus ar y croen. Dyma nhw'n dweud wrth ei gilydd, “Pam ydyn ni'n aros yn y fan yma i farw? 4Os awn ni i mewn i'r ddinas, byddwn ni'n marw, achos does yna ddim bwyd yno. Os arhoswn ni yma, dŷn ni'n mynd i farw hefyd. Felly dewch i ni fynd drosodd at fyddin Syria. Falle y gwnân nhw'n lladd ni, ond mae yna bosibilrwydd yn gwnân nhw adael i ni fyw.” 5Felly'r noson honno, dyma nhw'n mynd i wersyll byddin Syria. Ond wrth iddyn nhw gyrraedd cyrion y gwersyll dyma nhw'n sylweddoli fod yna neb yno. 6Roedd yr Arglwydd wedi gwneud i fyddin Syria feddwl eu bod yn clywed sŵn byddin enfawr yn dod gyda ceffylau a cherbydau. Roedden nhw'n meddwl fod brenin Israel wedi talu i frenhinoedd yr Hethiaid a'r Aifft i ymosod arnyn nhw. 7Felly roedden nhw wedi dianc gyda'r nos. Roedden nhw wedi gadael eu pebyll, a'u ceffylau a'u hasynnod, a'r gwersyll fel roedd e, a ffoi am eu bywydau. 8Pan ddaeth y dynion oedd yn dioddef o'r gwahanglwyf i gyrion y gwersyll dyma nhw'n mynd i mewn i un o'r pebyll a buon nhw'n bwyta ac yfed ynddi. Yna dyma nhw'n cymryd arian, aur a dillad ohoni, a mynd i guddio'r cwbl. Wedyn dyma nhw'n mynd i babell arall, a dwyn o honno hefyd. 9Ond yna dyma nhw'n dweud wrth ei gilydd, “Dydy hyn ddim yn iawn! Mae hi'n ddiwrnod i ddathlu, a dŷn ni wedi dweud dim wrth neb. Allwn ni ddim aros tan y bore; fyddai hynny ddim yn iawn. Dewch, rhaid i ni fynd i ddweud wrthyn nhw yn y palas.” 10Felly dyma nhw'n mynd yn ôl i Samaria a galw ar y wylwyr y giatiau, “Dŷn ni wedi bod i wersyll byddin Syria, a doedd yna neb yno o gwbl. Glywon ni'r un siw na miw. Ond roedd y ceffylau a'r asynnod yno wedi eu clymu, a'r pebyll yn dal i sefyll.” 11A dyma'r gwylwyr yn pasio'r neges ymlaen i balas y brenin. 12Cododd y brenin o'i wely a dweud wrth ei swyddogion, “Ddweda i wrthoch chi beth mae Syria'n ei wneud. Maen nhw'n gwybod fod newyn yma, ac maen nhw wedi gadael y gwersyll a mynd i guddio i gefn gwlad. Maen nhw'n disgwyl i ni fynd allan i chwilio am fwyd, a wedyn byddan nhw'n ein dal ni, ac yn dod i mewn i'r ddinas.” 13Ond dyma un o'r swyddogion yn awgrymu, “Gad i ni ddewis pump o'r ceffylau sydd ar ôl, ac anfon dynion allan i weld beth sy'n digwydd. Os cân nhw eu lladd, fydd hynny ddim gwaeth na beth sy'n mynd i ddigwydd i bobl Israel i gyd os arhoswn ni yma – mae hi wedi darfod arnon ni i gyd.” 14Felly dyma nhw'n cymryd dau gerbyd rhyfel, a dyma'r brenin anfon dynion ar ôl byddin Syria i weld beth oedd yn digwydd. 15Aethon nhw ar eu holau cyn belled â'r Afon Iorddonen. (Roedd dillad a taclau o bob math ar lawr ym mhobman ar y ffordd, wedi eu taflu i ffwrdd gan y Syriaid yn eu brys.) A dyma'r sgowtiaid yn mynd yn ôl i ddweud wrth y brenin. 16Wedyn aeth pobl Samaria allan i wersyll byddin Syria a helpu eu hunain i beth bynnag roedden nhw'n dod o hyd iddo. A daeth hi'n wir fod un darn arian yn ddigon i brynu sachaid o flawd mân neu ddwy lond sach o haidd, yn union fel roedd Arglwydd wedi dweud. 17Roedd y brenin wedi anfon ei brif gynorthwywr i reoli pethau wrth giât y ddinas. Ond wrth i'r dyrfa ruthro allan, cafodd ei sathru dan draed a bu farw. Roedd hyn hefyd wedi digwydd yn union fel roedd Eliseus, proffwyd yr Arglwydd, wedi dweud pan oedd y brenin wedi ceisio ei arestio. 18Neges y proffwyd i'r brenin oedd, “Bydd un darn arian yn ddigon i brynu dwy lond sach o haidd neu sachaid o flawd mân! Bydd hyn yn digwydd yr adeg yma fory, yn y farchnad wrth giât Samaria.” 19Ond roedd swyddog agosa'r brenin, ei brif gynorthwywr, wedi ateb proffwyd Duw, “Hyd yn oed petai'r Arglwydd yn agor llifddorau'r awyr iddi lawio ar y ddaear, allai hynny byth digwydd!” Ac roedd Eliseus wedi ateb, “Cei weld y peth â dy lygaid dy hun, ond gei di ddim bwyta dim ohono.” 20A dyna'n union oedd wedi digwydd. How do I do a word study?

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
