Jehoachas, brenin Israel
1Pan oedd Joas fab Ahaseia wedi bod yn frenin ar Jwda am ddau ddeg tair o flynyddoedd, dyma Jehoachas, mab Jehw, yn dod yn frenin ar Israel. Bu'n frenin yn Samaria am un deg saith o flynyddoedd. 2Gwnaeth bethau drwg iawn yng ngolwg yr Arglwydd. Roedd e'n dal i addoli'r eilunod wnaeth Jeroboam fab Nebat eu codi, y rhai oedd wedi gwneud i Israel bechu. Wnaeth e ddim troi cefn arnyn nhw. 3Roedd yr Arglwydd yn wirioneddol flin gyda phobl Israel! Dyma fe'n gadael i Hasael, brenin Syria a'i fab Ben-hadad, eu rheoli nhw am flynyddoedd lawer. 4Ond dyma Jehoachas yn gweddïo ar yr Arglwydd, a dyma'r Arglwydd yn gwrando am ei fod wedi gweld fel roedd Israel yn dioddef o dan frenin Syria. 5Felly dyma'r Arglwydd yn anfon un i achub Israel oddi wrth Syria, a cafodd y bobl fynd i fyw yn eu cartrefi eu hunain eto, fel o'r blaen. 6Ond wnaethon nhw ddim troi eu cefnau ar eilunod teulu Jeroboam oedd wedi gwneud i Israel bechu. Roedden nhw'n dal ati i bechu fel o'r blaen. Roedd hyd yn oed polyn i'r dduwies Ashera yn dal yn Samaria. 7Doedd gan Jehoachas ddim byddin ar ôl ychwaith, dim ond pum deg o geffylau, deg cerbyd a deg mil o filwyr troed. Roedd brenin Syria wedi eu dinistrio nhw a'u sathru nhw dan draed fel mân lwch ar lawr dyrnu. 8Mae gweddill hanes Jehoachas, y cwbl wnaeth e a'i lwyddiant milwrol, i'w weld yn y sgrôl Hanes Brenhinoedd Israel. 9Bu Jehoachas farw a chael ei gladdu yn Samaria, a dyma'i fab, Jehoas yn dod yn frenin yn ei le.Jehoas, brenin Israel
10Roedd Joas wedi bod yn frenin ar Jwda am dri deg saith o flynyddoedd, pan ddaeth Jehoas fab Jehoachas yn frenin ar Israel. Bu'n frenin yn Samaria am un deg chwech o flynyddoedd. 11Gwnaeth yntau hefyd bethau drwg iawn yng ngolwg yr Arglwydd, a gwrthod troi cefn ar yr eilunod roedd Jeroboam fab Nebat wedi eu codi i achosi i bobl Israel bechu. Roedd e'n byw yr un fath. 12Mae gweddill hanes Jehoas, y cwbl wnaeth e, ei lwyddiant milwrol a'i ddewrder yn y rhyfel yn erbyn Amaseia, brenin Jwda, i'w weld yn y sgrôl Hanes Brenhinoedd Israel. 13Pan fuodd Jehoas farw cafodd ei gladdu yn Samaria gyda brenhinoedd Israel, a dyma'i fab, Jeroboam, yn eistedd ar yr orsedd yn ei le.Proffwydoliaeth olaf Eliseus cyn iddo farw
14Pan oedd Eliseus yn sâl ac ar ei wely angau aeth Jehoas, brenin Israel, i'w weld. Dyma Jehoas yn torri i lawr i wylo o'i flaen a dweud, “Fy nhad, fy nhad! Ti ydy arfau a byddin Israel!” ▼▼13:14 Ti ydy … Israel Hebraeg, “Cerbyd a marchogion Israel!” gw. 2 Brenhinoedd 2:12
15Dyma Eliseus yn dweud wrtho, “Tyrd â dy fwa a dy saethau yma.” A dyma fe'n gwneud hynny. 16Wedyn dyma Eliseus yn dweud wrtho, “Gafael yn y bwa.” Yna dyma Eliseus yn rhoi ei ddwylo ar ddwylo'r brenin. 17Wedyn dyma fe'n dweud wrtho, “Agor y ffenest sy'n wynebu'r dwyrain.” A dyma fe'n agor y ffenest. Yna dyma Eliseus yn dweud, “Saetha!” A dyma fe'n saethu. “Mae'r saeth yna'n symbol o fuddugoliaeth yr Arglwydd. Saeth buddugoliaeth dros Syria. Byddi di'n ymosod ar Syria yn Affec ac yn ei difa nhw'n llwyr.” 18Yna dyma Eliseus yn dweud, “Cymer y saethau, a taro'r llawr gyda nhw.” Felly dyma'r brenin yn gafael yn y saethau a taro'r llawr dair gwaith, ac yna stopio. 19Roedd y proffwyd yn flin gydag e. “Dylet ti fod wedi taro'r llawr bump neu chwe gwaith! Byddai hynny'n dangos dy fod yn mynd i ddinistrio Syria'n llwyr. Ond nawr dim ond tair gwaith fyddi di'n eu curo nhw.” 20Bu farw Eliseus a cafodd ei gladdu. Roedd criwiau o ddynion o Moab yn arfer ymosod ar y wlad bob gwanwyn. 21Un tro pan oedd rhyw ddyn yn cael ei gladdu, dyma'r bobl oedd yn ei gladdu yn gweld un o'r criwiau yna o Moab yn dod. Felly dyma nhw'n taflu corff y dyn marw i mewn i fedd Eliseus a dianc. Pan gyffyrddodd y corff esgyrn Eliseus, daeth yn ôl yn fyw a chodi ar ei draed. Rhyfel rhwng Israel a Syria
22Roedd Hasael, brenin Syria, wedi bod yn cam-drin Israel ar hyd cyfnod Jehoachas fel brenin. 23Ond dyma'r Arglwydd yn tosturio a dangos trugaredd atyn nhw. Roedd yn garedig atyn nhw oherwydd ei ymrwymiad gydag Abraham, Isaac a Jacob. Hyd heddiw mae e'n dal i wrthod eu dinistrio nhw na chael gwared â nhw! 24Pan fuodd Hasael, brenin Syria, farw, daeth ei fab Ben-hadad ▼ yn frenin yn ei le. 25Yna dyma Jehoas fab Jehoachas yn ennill tair brwydr yn erbyn Ben-hadad a chymryd yn ôl y trefi roedd Hasael wedi eu dwyn oddi ar ei dad.

How do I do a word study?

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
