Rhyfel rhwng Israel a Moab
1Pan oedd Jehosaffat wedi bod yn frenin ar Jwda am un deg wyth o flynyddoedd, dyma Joram, mab Ahab, yn dod yn frenin ar Israel yn Samaria. Bu'n frenin am un deg dwy o flynyddoedd. 2Gwnaeth bethau drwg iawn yng ngolwg yr Arglwydd. Ond doedd e ddim mor ddrwg â'i dad a'i fam. Roedd e wedi cael gwared â'r golofn gysegredig i Baal roedd ei dad wedi ei gwneud. 3Ond roedd yn dal i addoli'r eilunod roedd Jeroboam fab Nebat wedi eu codi i achosi i bobl Israel bechu. Roedd yn gwrthod yn lân cael gwared â nhw. 4Roedd Mesha, brenin Moab yn cadw defaid. Roedd rhaid iddo dalu treth bob blwyddyn i frenin Israel – can mil o ŵyn a gwlân can mil o hyrddod. 5Ond pan fu farw'r brenin Ahab, dyma frenin Moab yn gwrthryfela yn erbyn brenin newydd Israel. 6Felly dyma'r Brenin Joram yn mynd allan o Samaria a galw byddin Israel i gyd at ei gilydd. 7A dyma fe'n anfon neges at Jehosaffat, brenin Jwda, yn dweud, “Mae brenin Moab wedi gwrthryfela yn fy erbyn i. Ddoi di gyda mi i ryfel yn erbyn Moab?” A dyma Jehosaffat yn ateb, “Dw i gyda ti, a bydd fy myddin i gyda dy fyddin di.” 8Yna dyma fe'n gofyn, “Pa ffordd awn ni?” A dyma Joram yn ateb, “Ar hyd y ffordd drwy anialwch Edom.” 9Felly dyma frenin Israel, brenin Jwda a brenin Edom yn mynd y ffordd hir rownd. Cymerodd saith diwrnod, a doedd ganddyn nhw ddim dŵr i'r milwyr na'r anifeiliaid oedd gyda nhw. 10“O, na!” meddai brenin Israel, “Ydy'r Arglwydd wedi'n galw ni dri brenin allan er mwyn i frenin Moab ein curo ni?” 11Yna dyma Jehosaffat yn gofyn, “Oes yna un o broffwydi'r Arglwydd yma, i ni holi'r Arglwydd trwyddo?” “Oes,” meddai un o weision Joram, “Eliseus fab Shaffat, oedd yn arfer helpu ▼▼3:11 helpu Hebraeg, “tywallt dŵr dros ddwylo”
Elias.” 12A dyma Jehosaffat yn dweud, “Mae e'n un sy'n deall meddwl yr Arglwydd.” Felly dyma frenin Israel, Jehosaffat a brenin Edom yn mynd i'w weld. 13Dyma Eliseus yn dweud wrth frenin Israel, “Gad lonydd i mi. Dos at broffwydi dy dad neu broffwydi dy fam!” Ond dyma frenin Israel yn ateb, “Na, yr Arglwydd sydd wedi'n galw ni dri brenin allan er mwyn i frenin Moab ein curo ni!” 14A dyma Eliseus yn ateb, “Yr Arglwydd holl-bwerus dw i'n ei wasanaethu. Mor sicr â'i fod e'n fyw, fyddwn i'n cymryd dim sylw ohonot ti o gwbl oni bai am y parch sydd gen i at y Brenin Jehosaffat. 15Nawr dewch â rhywun sy'n canu'r delyn ata i.” Wrth i'r telynor ganu dyma Eliseus yn dod dan ddylanwad yr Arglwydd. 16A dyma fe'n dweud, “Dyma mae'r Arglwydd yn ei ddweud: ‘Gwnewch ffosydd yn y dyffryn yma.’ 17Ie, dyma mae'r Arglwydd yn ei ddweud: ‘Welwch chi ddim gwynt na glaw, ond bydd y dyffryn yma'n llawn dŵr. Byddwch chi a'ch anifeiliaid yn gallu yfed.’ 18Mae'n beth mor hawdd i'r Arglwydd ei wneud. A byddwch chi'n ennill y frwydr yn erbyn Moab hefyd. 19Dych chi i ddinistrio'r caerau amddiffynnol a'r trefi pwysig eraill i gyd. Dych chi i dorri'r coed ffrwythau i gyd, llenwi pob ffynnon gyda pridd, a difetha pob darn o dir da gyda cherrig.” 20Y bore wedyn, tua'r adeg roedden nhw'n arfer cyflwyno aberth i'r Arglwydd, dyma ddŵr yn dechrau llifo i lawr o gyfeiriad Edom a llenwi pobman. 21Roedd pobl Moab wedi clywed fod y brenhinoedd yn ymosod. Felly dyma nhw'n galw pawb oedd ddigon hen i gario arfau at ei gilydd, a mynd i ddisgwyl wrth y ffin. 22Pan gododd byddin Moab y bore wedyn, roedd yr haul yn tywynnu ar y dŵr. Roedd yn edrych yn goch fel gwaed i bobl Moab. 23“Mae'n rhaid bod y brenhinoedd wedi ymladd yn erbyn ei gilydd,” medden nhw. “Dewch, bobl Moab, i gasglu'r ysbail!” 24Ond pan gyrhaeddon nhw wersyll Israel, dyma fyddin Israel yn codi ac ymosod arnyn nhw, nes i Moab orfod ffoi. Aeth byddin Israel ar eu holau a'u taro. 25Dyma nhw'n dinistrio'r trefi i gyd, ac roedd pob dyn yn taflu carreg ar y tir da nes roedd y caeau'n llawn cerrig. Dyma nhw'n llenwi pob ffynnon gyda phridd, a torri i lawr pob coeden ffrwythau. Yn y diwedd dim ond Cir-chareseth oedd ar ôl. A dyma'r milwyr gyda ffyn tafl yn ei hamgylchynu ac ymosod arni hithau hefyd. 26Pan oedd brenin Moab yn gweld ei fod yn colli'r frwydr, dyma fe'n mynd â saith gant o filwyr gyda chleddyfau i geisio torri trwy rengoedd brenin Edom; ond methu wnaeth e. 27Felly dyma fe'n cymryd ei fab hynaf, yr un oedd i fod yn frenin ar ei ôl, a'i losgi yn aberth ar ben y wal. Trodd hi'n ffyrnig yn erbyn Israel, a dyma nhw'n rhoi'r gorau i'r frwydr a mynd yn ôl i'w gwlad eu hunain.

How do I do a word study?

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
