Yr Iddewon yn trechu eu gelynion
1Roedd gorchymyn y brenin i gael ei weithredu ar y trydydd ar ddeg o'r deuddegfed mis (sef Mis Adar). Dyna'r diwrnod roedd gelynion yr Iddewon wedi tybio eu bod nhw'n mynd i gael eu trechu nhw. Ond y gwrthwyneb ddigwyddodd – cafodd yr Iddewon drechu eu gelynion. 2Dyma'r Iddewon yn casglu at ei gilydd yn y trefi drwy'r holl daleithiau roedd y Brenin Ahasferus yn eu rheoli. Roedden nhw'n barod i ymosod ar unrhyw un oedd yn bwriadu gwneud drwg iddyn nhw. Ond roedd ofn yr Iddewon wedi gafael yn y bobl i gyd, a doedd neb yn gallu sefyll yn eu herbyn nhw. 3Roedd swyddogion y taleithiau, y rhaglawiaid a'r llywodraethwyr a pawb oedd yn gwasanaethu'r brenin, yn helpu'r Iddewon, am fod ganddyn nhw i gyd ofn Mordecai. 4Roedd Mordecai yn ddyn pwysig iawn yn y palas, ac roedd pawb drwy'r taleithiau i gyd wedi clywed amdano wrth iddo fynd yn fwy a mwy dylanwadol. 5Dyma'r Iddewon yn taro eu gelynion i gyd, eu lladd a'u dinistrio. Roedden nhw'n gwneud fel y mynnon nhw. 6Cafodd pum cant o bobl eu lladd yn y gaer ddinesig yn Shwshan. 7Cafodd deg mab Haman eu lladd, sef Parshandatha, Dalffon, Aspatha, Poratha, Adalia, Aridatha, Parmashta, Arisai, Aridai a Faisatha. Ond wnaethon nhw ddim cymryd eu heiddo nhw. 11Yr un diwrnod, dyma rywun yn dweud wrth y brenin faint o bobl oedd wedi cael eu lladd yn Shwshan. 12A dyma'r brenin yn dweud wrth Esther, “Mae'r Iddewon wedi lladd pum cant o bobl yn y gaer yma yn Shwshan yn unig, a deg mab Haman hefyd. Beth maen nhw wedi ei wneud yn y taleithiau eraill, tybed? Gofyn am beth bynnag wyt ti eisiau, ac fe'i cei. Beth wyt ti eisiau i mi ei wneud? Dyna gei di!” 13A dyma Esther yn ateb, “Os ydy'r brenin yn gweld yn dda, rho ganiatâd i'r Iddewon yn Shwshan wneud yr un peth yfory ag a wnaethon nhw heddiw; a gad i gyrff deg mab Haman gael eu hongian ar y crocbren.” 14Felly dyma'r brenin yn gorchymyn i hynny gael ei wneud. Cafodd cyfraith ei phasio ar gyfer tref Shwshan, a cafodd cyrff meibion Haman eu hongian yn gyhoeddus. 15Dyma'r Iddewon yn Shwshan yn casglu at ei gilydd ar y pedwerydd ar ddeg o fis Adar, a dyma nhw'n lladd tri chant arall. Ond wnaethon nhw ddim cymryd eu heiddo nhw. 16Roedd gweddill Iddewon y taleithiau wedi dod at ei gilydd y diwrnod cynt i amddiffyn eu hunain, a cawson nhw lonydd gan eu gelynion. Roedden nhw wedi lladd saith deg pum mil o elynion i gyd, ond wnaethon nhw ddim cymryd eu heiddo nhw. A'r diwrnod wedyn, ar y pedwerydd ar ddeg o fis Adar, cawson nhw orffwys. Cafodd y diwrnod hwnnw ei wneud yn ddydd Gŵyl, i ddathlu a chynnal partïon. 18Ond roedd Iddewon yn Shwshan wedi dod at ei gilydd i ymladd ar y trydydd ar ddeg a'r pedwerydd ar ddeg, felly dyma nhw'n gorffwys ar y pymthegfed, a gwneud hwnnw yn ddydd Gŵyl i ddathlu a chynnal partïon. 19(A dyna pam mae'r Iddewon sy'n byw yng nghefn gwlad ac mewn pentrefi gwledig yn cadw'r pedwerydd ar ddeg o fis Adar fel diwrnod sbesial i fwynhau eu hunain a partïo, i gael gwyliau a rhoi anrhegion o fwyd i'w gilydd.)Gŵyl Pwrim
20Ysgrifennodd Mordecai hanes popeth oedd wedi digwydd. Wedyn anfonodd lythyrau at yr Iddewon ym mhobman, drwy'r holl daleithiau oedd o dan reolaeth y Brenin Ahasferus, 21yn cadarnhau eu bod nhw i gymryd gwyliau bob blwyddyn ar y pedwerydd ar ddeg a'r pymthegfed o fis Adar. 22Ar y dyddiadau yna y cawson nhw lonydd gan eu gelynion – pan drodd eu trafferthion yn llawenydd a'u galar yn ddathlu. Roedden nhw i fod yn ddyddiau o bartïo a chael hwyl, rhoi anrhegion o fwyd i'w gilydd, a rhannu gyda phobl dlawd oedd mewn angen. 23Felly dyma'r Iddewon yn ymrwymo i wneud yr un peth bob blwyddyn, a cadw'r Ŵyl fel roedd Mordecai wedi dweud yn ei lythyr. 24Roedd gelyn pob Iddew, sef Haman fab Hammedatha o dras Agag, wedi cynllwynio yn erbyn yr Iddewon i'w lladd nhw. Roedd wedi mynd trwy'r ddefod o daflu'r pŵr (sef math o ddeis) gyda'r bwriad o'i dinistrio a'u lladd nhw. 25Ond pan glywodd y brenin am y cynllwyn, dyma fe'n gorchymyn mewn ysgrifen fod y pethau drwg roedd Haman wedi eu bwriadu yn erbyn yr Iddewon i ddigwydd i Haman ei hun. A dyma fe a cyrff ei feibion yn cael eu crogi. 26A'r rheswm pam mae'r Ŵyl yn cael ei galw yn Pwrim, ydy ar ôl y gair pŵr. O achos yr hyn oedd wedi ei ysgrifennu yn y llythyr, a'r cwbl roedden nhw wedi mynd trwyddo, 27dyma'r Iddewon yn ymrwymo y bydden nhw a'u disgynyddion, a pawb arall oedd eisiau ymuno gyda nhw, yn cadw'r ddau ddiwrnod yma yn wyliau bob blwyddyn. 28Roedd y dyddiau yma i'w cofio a'u dathlu bob blwyddyn gan bob teulu ym mhob cenhedlaeth drwy'r taleithiau a'r trefi i gyd. Roedd yr Iddewon i wneud yn siŵr eu bod nhw a'u disgynyddion yn cadw gwyliau'r Pwrim bob amser. 29A dyma'r Frenhines Esther ferch Afichaïl, gyda help Mordecai yr Iddew, yn ysgrifennu llythyr i gadarnhau beth oedd yn yr ail lythyr am Ŵyl Pwrim. 30Cafodd llythyrau eu hanfon i'r Iddewon yn y cant dau ddeg saith talaith oedd dan reolaeth y Brenin Ahasferus, yn galw am heddwch a sefydlogrwydd. 31Roedd y llythyrau yma yn dweud pryd yn union roedd Gŵyl Pwrim i gael ei chynnal. Roedd Mordecai yr Iddew wedi rhoi'r gorchymyn, a'r Frenhines Esther wedi cadarnhau y mater. A dyma'r bobl yn ymrwymo ar eu rhan eu hunain a'i disgynyddion i'w cadw, yn union fel roedden nhw wedi ymrwymo i gadw'r dyddiau i ymprydio a galaru. 32Felly roedd gorchymyn Esther wedi cadarnhau trefniadau'r Pwrim, a cafodd y cwbl ei ysgrifennu i lawr.

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
