Daeth y Gair yn berson o gig a gwaed
1Y Gair oedd yn bod ar y dechrau cyntaf.Roedd y Gair gyda Duw,
a Duw oedd y Gair.
2Roedd gyda Duw o'r dechrau cyntaf un.
3Trwyddo y crëwyd popeth sy'n bod.
Does dim yn bodoli ond beth greodd e.
4Ynddo fe roedd bywyd,
a'r bywyd hwnnw'n rhoi golau i bobl.
5Mae'r golau yn dal i ddisgleirio yn y tywyllwch,
a'r tywyllwch wedi methu ei ddiffodd.
6Daeth dyn o'r enw Ioan i'r golwg. Duw oedd wedi anfon Ioan i roi tystiolaeth – 7ac i ddweud wrth bawb am y golau, er mwyn i bawb ddod i gredu drwy'r hyn oedd yn ei ddweud. 8Dim Ioan ei hun oedd y golau; dim ond dweud wrth bobl am y golau roedd e'n wneud. 9Roedd y golau go iawn, sy'n rhoi golau i bawb, ar fin dod i'r byd. 10Roedd y Gair yn y byd,
ac er mai fe greodd y byd,
wnaeth pobl y byd mo'i nabod.
11Daeth i'w wlad ei hun,
a chael ei wrthod
gan ei bobl ei hun.
12Ond cafodd pawb wnaeth ei dderbyn,
(sef y rhai sy'n credu ynddo)
hawl i ddod yn blant Duw.
13Dim am fod ganddyn nhw waed Iddewig;
(Dim canlyniad perthynas rywiol a chwant gŵr sydd yma)
Duw sydd wedi eu gwneud nhw'n blant iddo'i hun!
14Daeth y Gair yn berson o gig a gwaed;
daeth i fyw yn ein plith ni.
Gwelon ni ei ysblander dwyfol,
ei ysblander fel Mab unigryw
wedi dod oddi wrth y Tad
yn llawn haelioni a gwirionedd.
15Dyma'r un oedd Ioan yn sôn amdano. Cyhoeddodd yn uchel, “Dyma'r un ddwedais i amdano, ‘Mae'r un sy'n dod ar fy ôl i yn bwysicach na fi. Roedd e'n bodoli o'm blaen i.’” 16Ynddo fe mae un fendith hael wedi cael ei rhoi yn lle'r llall – a hynny i bob un ohonon ni! 17Rhoddodd Moses Gyfraith Duw i ni; wedyn dyma rodd hael Duw a'i wirionedd yn dod i ni yn Iesu y Meseia. 18Does neb erioed wedi gweld Duw, ond mae'r Mab unigryw hwn (sy'n Dduw ei hun, gyda'r berthynas agosaf posib â'r Tad), wedi dweud yn glir amdano.
Ioan Fedyddiwr yn gwadu mai fe ydy'r Meseia

Beth fyddet ti'n ei ddweud amdanat ti dy hun?” 23Atebodd Ioan drwy ddyfynnu geiriau'r proffwyd Eseia: “Llais yn gweiddi'n uchel yn yr anialwch, ‘Cliriwch y ffordd i'r Arglwydd!’ c Dyna ydw i.” 24Yna dyma'r rhai ohonyn nhw oedd yn Phariseaid 25yn gofyn iddo, “Ond pa hawl sydd gen ti i fedyddio os mai dim ti ydy'r Meseia, nag Elias, na'r Proffwyd?” 26Atebodd Ioan nhw, “Dŵr dw i'n ei ddefnyddio i fedyddio pobl. Ond mae rhywun dych chi ddim yn ei nabod yn sefyll yn eich plith chi – 27sef yr un sy'n dod ar fy ôl i. Fyddwn i ddim digon da i fod yn gaethwas i ddatod carrai ei sandalau hyd yn oed!” 28Digwyddodd hyn i gyd yn Bethania ▼▼1:28 Bethania: Does neb yn gwybod yn union ble roedd y pentref yma.

29Y diwrnod wedyn gwelodd Ioan Iesu yn dod i'w gyfeiriad. “Edrychwch!” meddai, “Dacw Oen Duw, yr un sy'n cymryd pechod y byd i ffwrdd. 30Dyma'r dyn ddwedais i amdano, ‘Mae un sy'n dod ar fy ôl i yn bwysicach na fi. Roedd e'n bodoli o'm blaen i.’ 31Doeddwn i ddim yn gwybod mai fe oedd yr un. Ond dw i wedi bod yn bedyddio â dŵr er mwyn i Israel ei weld e.” 32Yna dyma Ioan yn dweud hyn: “Gwelais yr Ysbryd Glân yn disgyn o'r nefoedd fel colomen ac yn aros arno. 33Cyn hynny doeddwn i ddim yn gwybod mai fe oedd yr un, ond roedd yr un anfonodd fi i fedyddio â dŵr wedi dweud wrtho i, ‘Os gweli di'r Ysbryd yn dod i lawr ac yn aros ar rywun, dyna'r un fydd yn bedyddio â'r Ysbryd Glân.’ 34A dyna welais i'n digwydd! Dw i'n dweud wrthoch chi mai Iesu ydy Mab Duw.”Disgyblion cyntaf Iesu
35Roedd Ioan yno eto'r diwrnod wedyn gyda dau o'i ddisgyblion. 36Wrth i Iesu fynd heibio, roedd Ioan yn syllu arno, ac meddai “Edrychwch! Oen Duw!” 37Dyma'r ddau ddisgybl glywodd beth ddwedodd Ioan yn mynd i ddilyn Iesu. 38Trodd Iesu a'u gweld nhw'n ei ddilyn, a gofynnodd iddyn nhw, “Beth dych chi eisiau?” “Rabbi” medden nhw “ble rwyt ti'n aros?” (Ystyr y gair Hebraeg ‛Rabbi‛ ydy ‛Athro‛) 39Atebodd Iesu nhw, “Dewch i weld.” Felly dyma nhw'n mynd i weld lle roedd yn aros, a threulio gweddill y diwrnod gydag e. Roedd hi tua pedwar o'r gloch y p'nawn erbyn hynny. 40Andreas (brawd Simon Pedr) oedd un o'r ddau, 41a'r peth cyntaf wnaeth wedyn oedd mynd i chwilio am ei frawd Simon, a dweud wrtho, “Dŷn ni wedi dod o hyd i'r Meseia” (gair Hebraeg sy'n golygu ‛Yr un wedi ei eneinio'n frenin‛). 42Aeth Andreas ag e i gyfarfod Iesu. Edrychodd Iesu arno, ac yna dweud, “Simon fab Ioan wyt ti. Ond Ceffas fyddi di'n cael dy alw,” (enw sy'n golygu'r un peth â Pedr, sef ‛craig‛).Iesu'n gwahodd Philip a Nathanael i fod yn ddilynwyr
43Y diwrnod wedyn penderfynodd Iesu fynd i Galilea. Daeth o hyd i Philip, a dweud wrtho, “Tyrd, dilyn fi.” 44Roedd Philip hefyd (fel Andreas a Pedr), yn dod o dref Bethsaida. 45Yna aeth Philip i edrych am Nathanael a dweud wrtho, “Dŷn ni wedi dod o hyd i'r dyn yr ysgrifennodd Moses amdano yn y Gyfraith, a'r un soniodd y proffwydi amdano hefyd – Iesu, mab Joseff o Nasareth.” ▼▼1:45 y Gyfraith … y Proffwydi: Yr ysgrifau sanctaidd Iddewig, sef yr Hen Destament.

How do I do a word study?

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
