1Felly dyma Peilat yn gorchymyn i Iesu gael ei chwipio. 2Dyma'r milwyr yn plethu drain i wneud coron i'w rhoi am ei ben, ac yn gwisgo clogyn borffor amdano. 3Yna roedden nhw'n mynd ato drosodd a throsodd, a'i gyfarch gyda'r geiriau, “Eich mawrhydi, Brenin yr Iddewon!”, ac wedyn ei daro ar ei wyneb. 4Yna aeth Peilat allan eto a dweud wrth y dyrfa, “Dw i'n dod ag e allan eto, i chi wybod fy mod i ddim yn ei gael e'n euog o unrhyw drosedd.” 5Daeth Iesu allan yn gwisgo'r goron ddrain a'r clogyn borffor, ac meddai Peilat wrthyn nhw, “Edrychwch, dyma'r dyn!” 6Y foment y gwelodd y prif offeiriaid a'u swyddogion e, dyma nhw'n dechrau gweiddi, “Croeshoelia fe! Croeshoelia fe!” Ond meddai Peilat, “Cymerwch chi e a'i groeshoelio eich hunain! Lle dw i'n y cwestiwn, mae e'n ddieuog.” 7“Mae gynnon ni Gyfraith,” meddai'r arweinwyr Iddewig, “ac yn ôl y Gyfraith honno mae'n rhaid iddo farw, am ei fod wedi galw ei hun yn Fab Duw.” 8Pan glywodd Peilat hyn, roedd yn ofni fwy fyth. 9Aeth yn ôl i mewn i'r palas a gofyn i Iesu, “O ble wyt ti wedi dod?” Ond roddodd Iesu ddim ateb iddo. 10“Wyt ti'n gwrthod siarad â fi?” meddai Peilat. “Wyt ti ddim yn sylweddoli mai fi sydd â'r awdurdod i naill ai dy ryddhau di neu i dy groeshoelio di?” 11Atebodd Iesu, “Fyddai gen ti ddim awdurdod o gwbl drosto i oni bai ei fod wedi ei roi i ti gan Dduw, sydd uwchlaw pawb. Felly mae'r un drosglwyddodd fi i ti yn euog o bechod llawer gwaeth.” 12O hynny ymlaen roedd Peilat yn gwneud ei orau i ollwng Iesu yn rhydd. Ond dyma'r arweinwyr Iddewig yn gweiddi eto, “Os gollyngi di'r dyn yna'n rhydd, dwyt ti ddim yn gyfaill i Cesar! Mae unrhyw un sy'n hawlio ei fod yn frenin yn gwrthryfela yn erbyn yr ymerawdwr Cesar!” 13Pan glywodd Peilat hyn, daeth â Iesu allan eto, ac eisteddodd yn sedd y barnwr yn y lle oedd yn cael ei alw ‛Y Palmant‛ (‛Gabbatha‛ yn Hebraeg). 14Roedd hi'n ddiwrnod paratoi ar gyfer wythnos y Pasg, tua canol dydd. “Dyma fe, eich brenin chi,” meddai Peilat wrth y dyrfa. 15Ond dyma nhw'n gweiddi, “I ffwrdd ag e! I ffwrdd ag e! Croeshoelia fe!” “Dych chi am i mi groeshoelio eich brenin chi?” meddai Peilat. “Cesar ydy'n hunig frenin ni!” oedd ateb y prif offeiriaid. 16Yn y diwedd dyma Peilat yn gadael iddyn nhw gael eu ffordd, ac yn rhoi Iesu i'w groeshoelio.Y Croeshoelio
(Mathew 27:32-44; Marc 15:21-32; Luc 23:26-43) Felly aeth y milwyr ag Iesu i ffwrdd. 17Aeth allan, yn cario ei groes, i'r lle sy'n cael ei alw Lle y Benglog (‛Golgotha‛ yn Hebraeg). 18Yno, dyma nhw'n hoelio Iesu ar groes, a dau arall hefyd – un bob ochr iddo, a Iesu yn y canol. 19Trefnodd Peilat fod arwydd yn cael ei rwymo ar ei groes, yn dweud: IESU O NASARETH, BRENIN YR IDDEWON. 20Gwelodd llawer o Iddewon yr arwydd yma, am fod y lle y cafodd Iesu ei groeshoelio yn agos at y ddinas. Roedd yr arwydd mewn tair iaith – Hebraeg, Lladin a Groeg. 21Aeth y prif offeiriaid at Peilat i gwyno, “Ddylet ti ddim ysgrifennu, ‛Brenin yr Iddewon‛, ond yn hytrach fod y dyn yna'n hawlio mai fe oedd Brenin yr Iddewon.” 22Atebodd Peilat, “Dw i wedi ei ysgrifennu, a dyna ddiwedd ar y mater.” 23Pan wnaeth y milwyr groeshoelio Iesu, dyma nhw'n cymryd ei ddillad a'u rhannu rhwng y pedwar ohonyn nhw. Ond roedd ei grys yn un darn o frethyn o'r top i'r gwaelod. 24Felly dyma nhw'n dweud, “Gadewch inni beidio rhwygo hwn. Gadewch i ni gamblo amdano.” Digwyddodd hyn er mwyn i'r ysgrifau sanctaidd ddod yn wir, “Maen nhw wedi rhannu fy nillad rhyngddyn nhw,a gamblo am fy nghrys.” a
Dyna'n union wnaeth y milwyr! 25Roedd mam Iesu yn sefyll wrth ymyl ei groes, a hefyd ei fodryb, a Mair gwraig Clopas a Mair Magdalen. 26Pan welodd Iesu ei fam yn sefyll yno, a'r disgybl oedd Iesu'n ei garu'n fawr yn sefyll gyda hi, meddai wrth ei fam, “Mam annwyl, cymer e fel mab i ti,” 27ac meddai wrth y disgybl, “Gofala amdani hi fel petai'n fam i ti.” Felly o hynny ymlaen aeth mam Iesu i fyw gyda'r disgybl hwnnw.
Marwolaeth Iesu
(Mathew 27:45-56; Marc 15:33-41; Luc 23:44-49) 28Roedd Iesu'n gwybod ei fod wedi gwneud popeth oedd gofyn iddo'i wneud. “Dw i'n sychedig,” b meddai, gan gyflawni beth oedd yr ysgrifau sanctaidd yn ei ddweud. 29Roedd jwg o win sur rhad wrth ymyl, felly dyma nhw'n trochi ysbwng yn y gwin a'i rwymo ar goesyn isop i'w godi i fyny at wefusau Iesu. 30Ar ôl cael diod, dyma Iesu'n dweud, “Mae'r cwbl wedi ei wneud.” Yna plygodd ei ben a marw. 31Gan ei bod yn ddiwrnod paratoi ar gyfer wythnos y Pasg, a'r Saboth hwnnw'n ddiwrnod arbennig iawn, dyma'r arweinwyr Iddewig yn mynd i weld Peilat. Doedd ganddyn nhw ddim eisiau i'r cyrff gael eu gadael yn hongian ar y croesau dros y Saboth. Dyma nhw'n gofyn i Peilat ellid torri coesau Iesu a'r ddau leidr iddyn nhw farw'n gynt, ac wedyn gallai'r cyrff gael eu cymryd i lawr. 32Felly dyma'r milwyr yn dod ac yn torri coesau'r ddau ddyn oedd wedi eu croeshoelio gyda Iesu. 33Ond pan ddaethon nhw at Iesu gwelon nhw ei fod wedi marw'n barod. Yn lle torri ei goesau, 34dyma un o'r milwyr yn trywanu Iesu yn ei ochr gyda gwaywffon, a dyma ddŵr a gwaed yn llifo allan. 35Dw i'n dweud beth welais i â'm llygaid fy hun, ac mae beth dw i'n ei ddweud yn wir. Mae'r cwbl yn wir, a dw i'n rhannu beth welais i er mwyn i chi gredu. 36Digwyddodd y pethau hynny er mwyn i beth sydd yn yr ysgrifau sanctaidd ddod yn wir: “Fydd dim un o'i esgyrn yn cael ei dorri,” c 37ac fel mae'n dweud yn rhywle arall, “Byddan nhw'n edrych ar yr un maen nhw wedi ei drywanu.” dCladdu Iesu

(Roedd Joseff yn un o ddilynwyr Iesu, ond yn cadw'n ddistaw am y peth am fod ganddo ofn yr arweinwyr Iddewig.) Cafodd ganiatâd Peilat, a daeth a chymryd y corff. 39Roedd Nicodemus gydag e hefyd, sef y dyn oedd wedi mynd i weld Iesu ganol nos. e Daeth Nicodemus a tua 34 cilogram o fyrr ac aloes, 40i'w ddefnyddio wrth rwymo corff Iesu â stribedi o liain. Dyma sut roedd yr Iddewon yn arfer claddu pobl. 41Roedd gardd wrth ymyl y man lle cafodd Iesu ei groeshoelio, ac roedd bedd newydd yn yr ardd – doedd neb erioed wedi ei gladdu ynddo o'r blaen. 42Am ei bod hi'n bnawn Gwener (y diwrnod cyn y dydd Saboth Iddewig), ac am fod y bedd mor agos, dyma nhw'n rhoi Iesu i orwedd yno.

How do I do a word study?

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
