Samson yn dwyn giatiau Gasa
1Aeth Samson i Gasa. Gwelodd butain yno, ac aeth i gael rhyw gyda hi. 2Dyma bobl Gasa yn darganfod ei fod yno. Felly dyma nhw'n amgylchynu'r dref ac yn disgwyl amdano wrth y giatiau. Wnaethon nhw ddim mwy drwy'r nos, gan feddwl, “Lladdwn ni e pan fydd hi'n goleuo yn y bore!” 3Ond wnaeth Samson ddim aros drwy'r nos. Cododd ganol nos a gadael. Pan ddaeth at giatiau'r dref, tynnodd nhw o'r ddaear – y pyst a'r barrau a'r cwbl. Cododd nhw ar ei gefn, a'i cario nhw i ben y bryn sydd i'r dwyrain o Hebron.Samson a Delila
4Rywbryd wedyn, dyma Samson yn syrthio mewn cariad hefo gwraig o Ddyffryn Sorec, o'r enw Delila. 5Dyma arweinwyr y Philistiaid yn mynd ati, a dweud, “Os gwnei di ei berswadio fe i ddweud wrthot ti pam mae e mor gryf, a sut y gallen ni ei ddal a'i gam-drin, cei di fil a chant o ddarnau arian gan bob un ohonon ni.” 6Felly dyma Delila yn gofyn i Samson, “Beth sy'n dy wneud di mor gryf? Sut allai rhywun dy rwymo di a dy drechu di?” 7A dyma Samson yn ateb, “Petawn i'n cael fy rhwymo gyda saith llinyn bwa saeth newydd, byddwn i mor wan ac unrhyw ddyn arall.” 8Felly dyma arweinwyr y Philistiaid yn rhoi saith llinyn bwa saeth newydd iddi i rwymo Samson gyda nhw. 9Pan oedd y dynion yn cuddio yn yr ystafell, dyma Delila yn gweiddi, “Mae'r Philistiaid yma, Samson!” Dyma fe'n torri'r llinynnau bwa fel petaen nhw'n edau oedd wedi bod yn agos i dân. Doedden nhw ddim wedi darganfod y gyfrinach pam oedd e mor gryf. 10Dyma Delila'n dweud wrth Samson, “Ti'n chwarae triciau ac wedi dweud celwydd wrtho i! Tyrd, dywed wrtho i sut mae rhywun yn gallu dy rwymo di.” 11A dyma fe'n dweud wrthi, “Petawn i'n cael fy rhwymo gyda rhaffau newydd sbon sydd erioed wedi cael eu defnyddio o'r blaen, byddwn i mor wan ac unrhyw ddyn arall.” 12Felly dyma Delila yn rhwymo Samson gyda rhaffau newydd sbon. Yna dyma hi'n gweiddi, “Mae'r Philistiaid yma, Samson!” (Roedd y Philistiaid yn cuddio yn yr ystafell.) Ond dyma fe'n torri'r rhaffau fel petaen nhw'n ddim ond edau! 13Dyma Delila'n dweud wrth Samson, “Ti'n gwneud dim byd ond chwarae triciau a dweud celwydd wrtho i! Dywed wrtho i sut mae rhywun yn gallu dy rwymo di.” A dyma fe'n dweud wrthi, “Taset ti'n gweu fy ngwallt i – y saith plethen – i mewn i'r brethyn ar ffrâm wau, a'i gloi gyda'r pin, byddwn i mor wan ac unrhyw ddyn arall.” 14Felly tra roedd e'n cysgu, dyma hi'n cymryd ei saith plethen e, a'u gweu nhw i mewn i'r brethyn ar y ffrâm wau, a'i gloi gyda pin. Wedyn gweiddi, “Mae'r Philistiaid yma, Samson!” Dyma fe'n deffro, ac yn rhwygo'r pin allan o'r ffrâm a'i wallt o'r brethyn. 15A dyma Delila'n dweud wrtho, “Sut wyt ti'n gallu dweud ‘Dw i'n dy garu di,’ os wyt ti ddim yn trystio fi? Rwyt ti wedi bod yn chwarae triciau dair gwaith ac wedi gwrthod dweud wrtho i beth sy'n dy wneud di mor gryf.” 16Roedd hi'n dal ati i swnian a swnian ddydd ar ôl dydd nes roedd Samson wedi cael llond bol. 17A dyma fe'n dweud popeth wrthi. “Dw i erioed wedi cael torri fy ngwallt. Ces fy rhoi yn Nasaread i Dduw, cyn i mi gael fy ngeni. Petai fy ngwallt yn cael ei dorri byddwn yn colli fy nghryfder. Byddwn i mor wan ac unrhyw ddyn arall.” 18Pan sylweddolodd Delila ei fod wedi dweud ei gyfrinach wrthi, dyma hi'n anfon am arweinwyr y Philistiaid. Ac meddai wrthyn nhw, “Dewch yn ôl, mae e wedi dweud wrtho i beth ydy'r gyfrinach.” Felly dyma arweinwyr y Philistiaid yn mynd yn ôl ati, a'r arian i'w thalu hi gyda nhw. 19Dyma Delila'n cael Samson i gysgu, a'i ben ar ei gliniau. Yna dyma hi'n galw dyn draw i dorri ei wallt i gyd i ffwrdd – y saith plethen. A dyna ddechrau'r cam-drin. Roedd ei gryfder i gyd wedi mynd. 20Dyma hi'n gweiddi, “Mae'r Philistiaid yma, Samson!” A dyma fe'n deffro, gan feddwl, “Gwna i yr un peth ag o'r blaen, a chael fy hun yn rhydd.” (Doedd e ddim yn sylweddoli fod yr Arglwydd wedi ei adael e.) 21Dyma'r Philistiaid yn ei ddal a thynnu ei lygaid allan. Yna dyma nhw'n mynd ag e i'r carchar yn Gasa. Yno dyma nhw'n rhoi cadwyni pres arno a gwneud iddo falu ŷd. 22Ond cyn hir roedd ei wallt yn dechrau tyfu eto.Marwolaeth Samson
23Roedd arweinwyr y Philistiaid wedi dod at ei gilydd i ddathlu, a chyflwyno aberthau i'w duw, Dagon ▼▼16:23 Dagon Mae temlau iddo wedi eu darganfod yn Ebla, Mari ac Wgarit. Roedd teml hefyd yn Gasa (Barnwyr 16:23) ac yn Ashdod (1 Samuel 5; 1 Macabeaid 10:83-84; 11:4). Mae testunau Wgaritig yn ei ddisgrifio fel tad Baal.

24Roedd y bobl i gyd yn edrych ar eu duw ac yn ei foli. “Mae'n duw ni wedi rhoi ein gelyn yn ein gafael. Roedd e wedi dinistrio'n gwlad, a lladd cymaint ohonon ni.” 25Pan oedd y parti'n dechrau mynd yn wyllt dyma nhw'n gweiddi, “Dewch â Samson yma i ni gael ychydig o adloniant!” Felly dyma nhw'n galw am Samson o'r carchar, i roi sioe iddyn nhw. A dyma nhw'n ei osod i sefyll rhwng dau o'r pileri. 26Dyma Samson yn dweud wrth y bachgen oedd yn ei dywys, “Gad i mi deimlo pileri'r deml, i mi gael pwyso arnyn nhw.” 27Roedd y deml yn orlawn o bobl, ac roedd arweinwyr y Philistiaid i gyd yno. Roedd tair mil o bobl ar y to yn gwylio Samson ac yn gwneud hwyl ar ei ben. 28A dyma Samson yn gweddïo ar yr Arglwydd. “O Feistr, Arglwydd, cofia amdana i! Gwna fi'n gryf dim ond un waith eto, O Dduw. Gad i mi daro'r Philistiaid un tro olaf, a dial arnyn nhw am dynnu fy llygaid i!” 29Yna dyma Samson yn rhoi ei ddwylo ar y ddau biler oedd yn cynnal to'r deml, a gwthio, un gyda'r llaw dde a'r llall gyda'r chwith. 30“Gad i mi farw gyda'r Philistiaid!” gwaeddodd. Roedd yn gwthio mor galed ag y medrai, a dyma'r adeilad yn syrthio ar ben arweinwyr y Philistiaid a phawb arall oedd y tu mewn. Lladdodd Samson fwy o Philistiaid pan fuodd e farw, nag yn ystod gweddill ei fywyd i gyd! 31Aeth ei frodyr a'r teulu i gyd i lawr i Gasa i nôl ei gorff. A dyma nhw'n ei gladdu ym medd ei dad, oedd rhwng Sora ac Eshtaol. Roedd Samson wedi arwain pobl Israel am ugain mlynedd.

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
