Y Lefiad a'i bartner
1Doedd dim brenin yn Israel bryd hynny. Roedd rhyw ddyn o lwyth Lefi yn byw yn bell o bobman yng nghanol bryniau Effraim. A dyma fe'n cymryd dynes o Bethlehem yn Jwda i fyw gydag e fel ei bartner ▼▼19:1 bartner Mae'r gair Hebraeg yn air am feistres neu bartner cyfreithlon oedd ddim yn wraig i ddyn yn ystyr lawnaf y gair.
2Ond roedd hi'n anffyddlon iddo, a dyma hi'n mynd yn ôl i fyw gyda'i theulu yn Bethlehem. Rhyw bedwar mis wedyn, 3dyma'r dyn yn mynd gyda'i was a dau asyn i geisio'i pherswadio i fynd yn ôl gydag e. Pan gyrhaeddodd, dyma hi'n mynd ag e i'w chartref, a dyma ei thad yn rhoi croeso brwd iddo. 4Dyma'r tad yn ei berswadio i aros am dri diwrnod, a dyna lle buodd e, yn bwyta ac yn yfed ac yn aros dros nos. 5Ond yna, ar y pedwerydd diwrnod, dyma fe'n codi'n gynnar a dechrau paratoi i adael. Dyma dad y ferch yn dweud wrtho, “Rhaid i ti gael tamaid i'w fwyta cyn mynd. Cewch fynd wedyn.” 6Felly dyma'r ddau ohonyn nhw'n cael pryd o fwyd gyda'i gilydd. A dyma dad y ferch yn dweud wrth y dyn, “Tyrd, aros un noson arall. Cei di amser da!” 7Roedd y dyn yn barod i fynd, ond dyma'r tad yn pwyso arno a'i berswadio i aros noson arall. 8Yna'n gynnar y bore wedyn, y pumed diwrnod, dyma'r dyn yn codi eto i fynd. Ond dyma dad y ferch yn dweud wrtho eto, “Rhaid i ti gael rhywbeth i dy gadw di i fynd! Pam wnei di ddim gadael ar ôl cinio?” Felly dyma'r ddau yn bwyta gyda'i gilydd eto. 9Rywbryd yn y p'nawn, dyma'r dyn yn codi i fynd gyda'i bartner a'i was. Ond dyma tad y ferch, yn dweud, “Gwranda, mae'n rhy hwyr yn y dydd. Aros un noson arall! Mae hi wedi mynd yn rhy hwyr i ti fynd bellach. Aros un noson arall i fwynhau dy hun. Wedyn cei godi'n gynnar bore fory a cychwyn ar dy daith am adre.” 10Ond doedd y dyn ddim am aros noson arall. Dyma fe a'i bartner yn cymryd y ddau asyn oedd wedi eu cyfrwyo, ac yn cychwyn ar y daith. Dyma nhw'n cyrraedd Jebws (sef, Jerwsalem). 11Erbyn hynny roedd hi'n dechrau nosi, a dyma'r gwas yn gofyn i'w feistr, “Beth am i ni aros yma dros nos, yn nhref y Jebwsiaid?” 12Dyma'r meistr yn ei ateb, “Na, allwn ni ddim aros gyda paganiaid sydd ddim yn perthyn i Israel. Awn ni ymlaen i Gibea. 13Gallwn ni ddod o hyd i rywle i aros, naill ai yn Gibea neu yn Rama.” 14Felly dyma nhw'n teithio yn eu blaenau. Pan gyrhaeddon nhw Gibea, sydd ar dir llwyth Benjamin, roedd yr haul wedi machlud. 15Felly dyma nhw'n penderfynu aros dros nos yno. Dyma nhw'n mynd i mewn i'r dref, ac eistedd i lawr i orffwys ar y sgwâr. Ond wnaeth neb eu gwahodd nhw i'w tŷ i aros dros nos. 16Ond yna, dyma ryw hen ddyn yn dod heibio. Roedd wedi bod yn gweithio yn y caeau drwy'r dydd ac ar ei ffordd adre. Roedd yn dod o fryniau Effraim yn wreiddiol, ond yn byw yn Gibea gyda phobl llwyth Benjamin. 17Pan welodd e'r teithiwr yn y sgwâr, dyma fe'n gofyn iddo, “O ble dych chi'n dod, ac i ble dych chi'n mynd?” 18A dyma'r dyn o lwyth Lefi yn dweud wrtho, “Dŷn ni ar ein ffordd adre o Bethlehem yn Jwda. Dw i'n byw mewn ardal ym mryniau Effraim sy'n bell o bobman. Dw i wedi bod i Bethlehem, a nawr dw i ar fy ffordd i Dabernacl yr Arglwydd. Ond does neb yn y dref yma wedi'n gwahodd ni i aros gyda nhw. 19Does gynnon ni angen dim byd. Mae gynnon ni ddigon o wellt a grawn i'n mulod, ac mae gynnon ni fwyd a gwin i'r tri ohonon ni – fi, dy forwyn, a'r bachgen ifanc sydd gyda ni.” 20“Mae croeso i chi ddod ata i!” meddai'r hen ddyn. “Gwna i ofalu amdanoch chi. Well i chi beidio aros ar sgwâr y dref drwy'r nos!” 21Felly dyma fe'n mynd â nhw i'w dŷ, ac yn bwydo'r asynnod. Wedyn ar ôl golchi eu traed ▼▼19:21 golchi eu traed Dyma fyddai'r arferiad cyn pryd o fwyd, gan fod pobl yn gwisgo sandalau agored.
dyma nhw'n cael pryd o fwyd gyda'i gilydd. 22Tra roedden nhw'n mwynhau eu hunain, dyma griw o rapsgaliwns o'r dref yn codi twrw, amgylchynu'r tŷ a dechrau curo ar y drws. Roedden nhw'n gweiddi ar yr hen ddyn, “Anfon y dyn sy'n aros gyda ti allan. Dŷn ni eisiau cael rhyw gydag e!” 23Ond dyma'r dyn oedd piau'r tŷ yn mynd allan atyn nhw, a dweud, “Na, ffrindiau. Peidiwch bod mor ffiaidd! Fy ngwestai i ydy'r dyn. Dych chi'n warthus! 24Mae gen i ferch sy'n wyryf, ac mae partner y dyn yma. Gwna i eu hanfon nhw allan. Gewch chi wneud beth leiciwch chi iddyn nhw. Ond peidiwch meddwl gwneud rhywbeth mor warthus i'r dyn yma!” 25Ond roedd y dynion yn gwrthod gwrando arno. Felly dyma'r dyn o lwyth Lefi yn gafael yn ei bartner ac yn ei gwthio hi allan atyn nhw. A buon nhw'n ei threisio hi a'i cham-drin hi drwy'r nos. Roedd hi bron yn gwawrio cyn iddyn nhw ei gollwng hi'n rhydd. 26Roedd hi'n dechrau goleuo pan gyrhaeddodd hi'r tŷ lle roedd ei gŵr yn aros. Syrthiodd ar lawr wrth y drws, a dyna lle buodd hi'n gorwedd nes oedd yr haul wedi codi. 27Pan gododd y gŵr y bore hwnnw, gan fwriadu cychwyn ar ei daith, agorodd y drws, a dyna lle roedd ei bartner. Roedd hi'n gorwedd wrth ddrws y tŷ, a'i dwylo ar y trothwy. 28“Tyrd, dŷn ni'n mynd,” meddai wrthi. Ond doedd dim ymateb. Felly dyma fe'n ei chodi ar ei asyn a mynd. 29Pan gyrhaeddodd adre, cymerodd gorff ei bartner a'i dorri'n un deg dau darn gyda chyllell. Yna dyma fe'n anfon y darnau, bob yn un, i bob rhan o Israel. 30Roedd pawb yn dweud, “Does yna ddim byd fel yma wedi digwydd erioed o'r blaen, ers i bobl Israel ddod allan o wlad yr Aifft! Meddyliwch am y peth! A trafodwch beth ddylid ei wneud.”

How do I do a word study?

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
