1Y bore wedyn dyma Gideon ▼▼7:1 Gideon Hebraeg, “Jerwb-baal”, ei lys-enw (gw. 6:32).

Roedd byddin Midian wedi gwersylla yn y dyffryn ychydig i'r gogledd, wrth ymyl Bryn More. 2Dyma'r Arglwydd yn dweud wrth Gideon, “Mae gormod o ddynion yn dy fyddin di. Os gwna i adael i chi guro Midian mae peryg i bobl Israel frolio mai nhw eu hunain wnaeth ennill y frwydr. 3Dywed wrth y dynion, ‘Os oes rhywun ag ofn, cewch droi'n ôl a gadael Mynydd Gilead.’” Aeth dau ddeg dau o filoedd adre gan adael deg mil ar ôl. 4Yna dyma'r Arglwydd yn siarad â Gideon eto. “Mae'r fyddin yn dal yn rhy fawr. Dos â nhw i lawr at y dŵr, a gwna i ddangos i ti pwy sydd i gael mynd a pwy sydd ddim.” 5Felly dyma fe'n mynd â'r dynion i lawr at y dŵr. A dyma'r Arglwydd yn dweud wrth Gideon, “Dw i eisiau i ti wahanu'r rhai sy'n llepian y dŵr fel mae ci'n gwneud oddi wrth y rhai sy'n mynd ar eu gliniau i yfed.” 6Tri chant oedd yn llepian y dŵr o gledr y llaw. Roedd y gweddill yn mynd ar eu gliniau i yfed. 7A dyma'r Arglwydd yn dweud wrth Gideon, “Bydda i'n gwneud i'r tri chant oedd yn llepian y dŵr ennill buddugoliaeth yn erbyn byddin Midian i gyd. Cei yrru'r dynion eraill i gyd adre.” 8Dyma Gideon yn casglu bwyd a chyrn hwrdd y milwyr hynny, ac yna eu hanfon adre. Dim ond y tri chant arhosodd gydag e. Roedd y Midianiaid wedi gwersylla i lawr yn y dyffryn oddi tano. 9A'r noson honno, dyma'r Arglwydd yn dweud wrth Gideon, “Ewch i lawr i ymosod ar wersyll y Midianiaid. Dw i'n mynd i'w rhoi yn eich dwylo chi! 10Os wyt ti'n dal yn ofnus, dos i lawr i'r gwersyll gyda dy was Pwra, 11a gwrando beth maen nhw'n ddweud. Fydd gen ti ddim ofn wedyn; byddi'n ymosod arnyn nhw.” Felly dyma Gideon yn mynd i lawr gyda'i was Pwra i ymyl y gwersyll lle roedd gwylwyr. 12Roedd y gwersyll yn anferth! Roedd y Midianiaid, yr Amaleciaid, a'r bobloedd eraill o wledydd y dwyrain yn gorchuddio'r dyffryn fel haid o locustiaid! Roedd ganddyn nhw ormod o gamelod i'w cyfrif – roedden nhw fel y tywod ar lan y môr! 13Ond pan gyrhaeddodd Gideon ymyl y gwersyll dyma fe'n clywed rhyw ddyn yn dweud wrth ddyn arall am freuddwyd gafodd e. “Ces i freuddwyd am dorth haidd gron yn rholio i lawr i wersyll Midian. Dyma hi'n taro'r babell mor galed nes i'r babell droi drosodd. Syrthiodd yn fflat ar lawr.” 14Dyma'r llall yn dweud, “Dim ond un peth mae hyn ei olygu – cleddyf Gideon, mab Joas. Mae Duw yn mynd i roi buddugoliaeth iddo dros fyddin Midian.” 15Dyma Gideon yn plygu i lawr ac addoli Duw ar ôl clywed am y freuddwyd a'r dehongliad ohoni. Yna dyma fe'n mynd yn ôl i wersyll Israel, a dweud, “Gadewch i ni fynd! Mae'r Arglwydd yn mynd i adael i chi drechu byddin Midian.” 16Dyma Gideon yn rhannu'r tri chant o ddynion yn dair uned filwrol. Yna rhoddodd gorn hwrdd i bawb, a jar gwag gyda fflam yn llosgi tu mewn iddo. 17“Gwyliwch fi, a gwneud yr un fath â fi,” meddai wrthyn nhw. “Gwyliwch yn ofalus. Pan ddown ni at gyrion gwersyll y Midianiaid, gwnewch yr un fath â fi. 18Pan fydd fy uned i yn chwythu eu cyrn hwrdd gwnewch chwithau yr un fath o gwmpas y gwersyll i gyd. Yna gweiddi, ‘Dros yr Arglwydd a dros Gideon!’” 19Aeth Gideon â chant o filwyr at gyrion y gwersyll, ychydig ar ôl deg o'r gloch y nos, pan oedd y gwylwyr wedi newid sifft. A dyma nhw'n chwythu'r cyrn hwrdd a torri'r jariau oedd ganddyn nhw. 20Dyma'r tair uned yn gwneud yr un fath. Roedden nhw'n dal eu ffaglau yn un llaw ac yn chwythu'r corn hwrdd gyda'r llall. Yna dyma nhw'n gweiddi, “I'r gâd dros ▼▼7:20 I'r gâd dros Hebraeg, “Cleddyf”
yr Arglwydd a Gideon!” 21Roedden nhw o gwmpas y gwersyll i gyd, yn sefyll mewn trefn. Pan oedd milwyr Gideon yn chwythu eu cyrn hwrdd, dyma filwyr y gelyn yn gweiddi mewn panig a cheisio dianc. Dyma'r Arglwydd yn gwneud iddyn nhw ddechrau ymladd ei gilydd drwy'r gwersyll i gyd. Roedd llawer o'r milwyr wedi dianc i Beth-sitta, sydd ar y ffordd i Serera, ar y ffin gydag Abel-mechola, ger Tabath. 23A dyma ddynion o lwythau Nafftali, Asher a Manasse yn mynd ar eu holau. 24A dyma Gideon yn anfon negeswyr i fryniau Effraim gyda'r neges yma: “Dewch i lawr i ymladd y Midianiaid! Ewch o'u blaenau a'u stopio nhw rhag croesi'r rhydau dros yr Afon Iorddonen yn Beth-bara.” A dyma ddynion Effraim yn dod a gwneud hynny. 25Dyma nhw'n dal dau o arweinwyr byddin Midian, Oreb a Seeb. ▼▼7:25 Oreb a Seeb ystyr Oreb ydy "Cigfran", ac ystyr Seeb ydy "Blaidd".

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
