Daniel 6:1-27
1Dyma Dareius yn penderfynu rhannu'r deyrnas gyfan yn gant dau ddeg o daleithiau, a penodi pennaeth ar bob un. 2Byddai penaethiaid y taleithiau yma yn atebol i dri comisiynydd, ac roedd Daniel yn un o'r rheiny. Y tri comisiynydd oedd yn gofalu am bethau ar ran y brenin. 3Yn fuan iawn daeth hi'n amlwg fod Daniel yn llawer mwy galluog na'r comisiynwyr eraill a penaethiaid y taleithiau i gyd – roedd ganddo allu cwbl anarferol. Yn wir, roedd y brenin yn bwriadu rhoi'r deyrnas i gyd dan ei ofal. 4O ganlyniad i hynny roedd y comisiynwyr eraill a penaethiaid y taleithiau eisiau ffeindio bai ar y ffordd roedd Daniel yn delio gyda gweinyddiaeth y deyrnas. Ond roedden nhw'n methu dod o hyd i unrhyw sgandal na llygredd. Roedd Daniel yn gwbl ddibynadwy. Doedd dim tystiolaeth o unrhyw esgeulustod na thwyll. 5“Does gynnon ni ddim gobaith dod â cyhuddiad yn erbyn y Daniel yma, oni bai ein bod yn dod o hyd i rywbeth sy'n gysylltiedig â chyfraith ei Dduw,” medden nhw. 6Felly dyma'r comisiynwyr a penaethiaid y taleithiau yn cynllwyn gyda'i gilydd, ac yn mynd at y brenin a dweud wrtho, “Frenin Dareius, bydd fyw am byth! 7Mae comisiynwyr y deyrnas, yr uchel-swyddogion, penaethiaid y taleithiau, a chynghorwyr y brenin, a'r llywodraethwyr yn meddwl y byddai'n syniad da i'r brenin wneud cyfraith newydd yn gorchymyn fel hyn: ‘Am dri deg diwrnod mae pawb i weddïo arnoch chi, eich mawrhydi. Os ydy rhywun yn gweddïo ar unrhyw dduw neu ar unrhyw berson arall, bydd yn cael ei daflu i ffau'r llewod.’ 8Felly, eich mawrhydi, cyhoeddwch y gwaharddiad ac arwyddo'r ddogfen, fel ei bod yn gwbl amhosib i'w newid. Bydd yn rhan o gyfraith Media a Persia, sy'n aros, a byth i gael ei newid.” 9Felly dyma'r brenin Dareius yn arwyddo'r gwaharddiad. 10Pan glywodd Daniel fod y gyfraith yma wedi ei harwyddo, aeth adre, a mynd ar ei liniau i weddïo fel roedd wedi gwneud bob amser. Roedd ganddo ystafell i fyny'r grisiau, a'i ffenestri'n agor i gyfeiriad Jerwsalem. Dyna ble roedd yn mynd dair gwaith bob dydd i weddïo ar Dduw a diolch iddo. 11Dyma'r dynion oedd wedi cynllwyn gyda'i gilydd yn mynd i dŷ Daniel, a'i gael yno'n gweddïo ac yn gofyn i Dduw am help. 12Felly dyma nhw'n mynd yn ôl at y brenin, ac yn ei atgoffa am y gwaharddiad. “Wnaethoch chi ddim arwyddo cyfraith yn gwahardd pobl am dri deg diwrnod rhag gweddïo ar unrhyw dduw na neb arall ond chi eich hun, eich mawrhydi? Ac yn dweud y byddai unrhyw un sy'n gwneud hynny yn cael ei daflu i'r llewod?” “Do, yn bendant,” meddai'r brenin. “Mae bellach yn rhan o gyfraith Media a Persia, sydd byth i gael ei newid.” 13Yna dyma nhw'n dweud wrth y brenin, “Dydy'r dyn Daniel yna, oedd yn un o'r caethion o Jwda, yn cymryd dim sylw ohonoch chi na'ch gwaharddiad eich mawrhydi. Mae'n dal ati i weddïo ar ei Dduw dair gwaith bob dydd.” 14Pan glywodd y brenin hyn, doedd e ddim yn hapus o gwbl. Roedd yn ceisio meddwl am ffordd i achub Daniel. Buodd wrthi drwy'r dydd yn ceisio meddwl am ffordd y gallai ei helpu. 15Ond gyda'r nos dyma'r dynion yn mynd yn ôl gyda'i gilydd at y brenin, ac yn dweud wrtho, “Cofiwch, eich mawrhydi, fod y gwaharddiad yn rhan o gyfraith Media a Persia. Dydy cyfraith sydd wedi cael ei harwyddo gan y brenin byth i gael ei newid.” 16Felly dyma'r brenin yn gorchymyn dod â Daniel ato, a'i fod i gael ei daflu i ffau'r llewod. Ond meddai'r brenin wrth Daniel, “Bydd dy Dduw, yr un rwyt ti'n ei addoli mor ffyddlon, yn dy achub di.” 17Cafodd carreg fawr ei rhoi dros geg y ffau, a dyma'r brenin yn gosod ei sêl arni gyda'i fodrwy, a'i uchel-swyddogion yr un fath, fel bod dim modd newid tynged Daniel. 18Yna dyma'r brenin yn mynd yn ôl i'w balas. Wnaeth e fwyta dim byd y noson honno. Gwrthododd gael ei ddifyrru, ac roedd yn methu'n lân a cysgu drwy'r nos. 19Pan oedd hi'n dechrau gwawrio'r bore wedyn dyma'r brenin yn brysio yn ôl at ffau'r llewod, 20ac wrth agosáu at y ffau dyma fe'n galw ar Daniel mewn llais pryderus, “Daniel! Gwas y Duw byw. Ydy'r Duw wyt ti'n ei addoli mor ffyddlon wedi gallu dy achub di rhag y llewod?” 21A dyma Daniel yn ateb, “O frenin! Boed i chi fyw am byth! 22Ydy, mae fy Nuw wedi anfon ei angel i gau cegau'r llewod, a dŷn nhw ddim wedi mrifo i o gwbl. Achos roeddwn i'n ddieuog yng ngolwg Duw – ac yn eich golwg chi hefyd, eich mawrhydi. Wnes i ddim drwg i chi.” 23Roedd y brenin wrth ei fodd, a dyma fe'n gorchymyn codi Daniel allan o'r ffau. Dyma nhw'n gwneud hynny, a doedd e ddim mymryn gwaeth, am ei fod wedi trystio'i Dduw. 24Wedyn dyma'r brenin yn gorchymyn fod y dynion oedd wedi ymosod mor giaidd ar Daniel yn cael eu harestio, a'i taflu i ffau'r llewod – a'u gwragedd a'u plant gyda nhw. Cyn iddyn nhw gyrraedd gwaelod y ffau roedd y llewod arnyn nhw ac wedi eu rhwygo nhw'n ddarnau. 25Dyma'r brenin Dareius yn ysgrifennu at y bobl i gyd, o bob gwlad ac iaith – pawb drwy'r byd i gyd: “Heddwch a llwyddiant i chi i gyd! 26Dw i'n cyhoeddi fod pawb sy'n byw o fewn ffiniau'r deyrnas dw i'n frenin arni, i ofni a pharchu Duw Daniel. Fe ydy'r Duw byw,ac mae e gyda ni bob amser!
Fydd ei deyrnas byth yn syrthio,
a bydd ei awdurdod yn aros am byth.
27Mae e'n achub ei bobl,
ac yn gwneud gwyrthiau rhyfeddol
yn y nefoedd ac ar y ddaear.
Mae wedi achub Daniel o afael y llewod!”

How do I do a word study?

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
