Paul and Barnabas at Iconium
1Now at Iconium athey entered together into the Jewish synagogue and spoke in such a way that a great number of both Jews and Greeks believed. 2 bBut the cunbelieving Jews stirred up the Gentiles and poisoned their minds against dthe brothers. ▼▼Or brothers and sisters
3So they remained for a long time, speaking boldly for fthe Lord, who bore witness to gthe word of his grace, hgranting signs and wonders to be done by their hands. 4But the people of the city iwere divided; jsome sided with the Jews and some with the apostles. 5When an attempt was made by both Gentiles and Jews, with their rulers, kto mistreat them and lto stone them, 6they learned of it and mfled to nLystra and Derbe, cities of Lycaonia, and to the surrounding country, 7and there they continued to preach the gospel. 8Now at Lystra there was a man sitting who could not use his feet. He was ocrippled from birth and had never walked. 9He listened to Paul speaking. And Paul, looking intently at him and pseeing that he had faith to be made well, ▼▼Or be saved
10said in a loud voice, “Stand upright on your feet.” And he rsprang up and began walking. 11And when the crowds saw what Paul had done, they lifted up their voices, saying in Lycaonian, s“The gods have come down to us in the likeness of men!” 12Barnabas they called tZeus, and Paul, Hermes, because he was the chief speaker. 13And the priest of uZeus, whose temple was at the entrance to the city, brought oxen and garlands to the gates and vwanted to offer sacrifice with the crowds. 14But when the apostles Barnabas and Paul heard of it, they wtore their garments and rushed out into the crowd, crying out, 15“Men, xwhy are you doing these things? We also are men, yof like nature with you, and we bring you good news, that zyou should turn from these aavain things to aba living God, acwho made the heaven and the earth and the sea and all that is in them. 16In past generations he adallowed all the nations aeto walk in their own ways. 17Yet afhe did not leave himself without witness, for he agdid good by ahgiving you rains from heaven and aifruitful seasons, satisfying your hearts with ajfood and akgladness.” 18Even with these words they scarcely restrained the people from offering sacrifice to them. 19 alBut Jews came from Antioch and Iconium, and having persuaded the crowds, amthey stoned Paul and dragged him out of the city, supposing that he was dead. 20But when the disciples gathered about him, he rose up and entered the city, and on the next day he went on with Barnabas to Derbe. 21When they had preached the gospel to that city and had anmade many disciples, they returned to Lystra and to Iconium and to Antioch, 22 aostrengthening the souls of the disciples, encouraging them apto continue in aqthe faith, and saying that arthrough many tribulations we must enter the kingdom of God. 23And when they had asappointed atelders for them in every church, with prayer and fasting authey committed them to the Lord in whom they had believed.Paul and Barnabas Return to Antioch in Syria
24Then they passed through Pisidia and came to Pamphylia. 25And when they had spoken the word in Perga, they went down to Attalia, 26and from there they sailed to Antioch, avwhere they had been awcommended to the grace of God for the work that they had fulfilled. 27And when they arrived and gathered the church together, axthey declared all that God had done with them, and ayhow he had azopened baa door of faith to the Gentiles. 28And they remained no little time with the disciples.

How do I do a word study?

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
