1Saudara sekalian yang saya kasihi, Saudara sendiri tahu betapa besar manfaat kunjungan kami itu. 2Saudara tahu bagaimana buruknya perlakuan orang terhadap kami di Filipi sebelum kami datang kepada Saudara, dan bagaimana penderitaan kami di sana. Namun Allah memberikan keberanian kepada kami untuk mengulangi berita yang sama kepada Saudara, walaupun kami menemui perlawanan sengit. 3Jadi, Saudara dapat melihat bahwa kami menyampaikan berita itu bukan dengan maksud yang salah atau tujuan-tujuan yang jahat; kami sungguh-sungguh berterus terang dan tulus.Utusan-utusan Allah
4Karena kami berbicara sebagai utusan-utusan Allah, yang telah diberi-Nya kepercayaan untuk memberitakan kebenaran; sedikit pun berita itu tidak kami ubah. Tujuan kami bukanlah menyenangkan mereka yang mendengarnya, karena kami hanya melayani Allah, yang menguji pikiran hati kami yang paling dalam. 5Saudara tahu bahwa kami belum pernah mencoba memenangkan Saudara dengan bermanis-manis. Allah pun mengetahui bahwa kami tidak pura-pura bersahabat dengan tujuan memperoleh uang dari Saudara. 6Kami tidak pernah mencari pujian dari Saudara atau dari siapa pun, meskipun sebagai rasul Kristus sesungguhnya kami berhak mendapat penghormatan dari Saudara. 7Tetapi kami berlaku lemah lembut kepada Saudara seperti seorang ibu memberi makan dan memelihara anak-anak kandungnya. 8Kasih kami kepada Saudara demikian besarnya, sehingga kami tidak saja memberikan firman Allah, tetapi juga hidup kami sendiri.9Saudara sekalian yang saya kasihi, tidakkah Saudara ingat bagaimana kerasnya kami bekerja di antara Saudara? Siang malam kami membanting tulang dan memeras keringat untuk mencukupkan nafkah kami, supaya biaya hidup kami tidak menjadi beban bagi siapa pun, selagi kami mengabarkan Berita Kesukaan dari Allah di antara Saudara. 10Saudara sendiri menjadi saksi kami, demikian pula Allah, bahwa kami bersikap bersih, jujur, dan tidak bercela kepada siapa pun di antara Saudara. 11Saudara ingat, bukan, bahwa kami berbicara kepada Saudara sebagai seorang bapa kepada anak-anaknya sendiri, menasihati dan menguatkan Saudara, malahan menuntut, 12supaya hidup Saudara mendatangkan hormat kepada Allah, yang telah mengundang Saudara memasuki kerajaan-Nya untuk mengambil bagian dalam kemuliaan-Nya.
13Dan kami akan selalu bersyukur kepada Allah atas hal-hal ini: bahwa ketika kami menyampaikan Berita Kesukaan kepada Saudara, Saudara tidak menganggap kata-kata kami itu berasal dari kami sendiri, melainkan menerimanya sebagai Firman Allah. Sesungguhnyalah demikian; Firman itu sedang bekerja dalam diri Saudara yang memercayainya.
14Saudara sekalian yang saya kasihi, kemudian Saudara menderita sebab dianiaya bangsa sendiri seperti halnya jemaat di Yudea, yang juga dianiaya oleh bangsanya sendiri, yaitu orang-orang Yahudi. 15Setelah membunuh nabi-nabi mereka, bangsa Yahudi bahkan menyalibkan Tuhan Yesus; dan sekarang dengan kejam mereka menganiaya serta mengusir kami. Mereka melawan baik Allah maupun manusia, 16dengan berusaha mencegah kami mengabarkan Berita Kesukaan kepada orang-orang bukan Yahudi, karena takut orang-orang itu akan diselamatkan. Dengan demikian, mereka akhirnya memenuhi ukuran dosa mereka. Sekarang, murka Allah akan menimpa mereka.
17Saudara sekalian yang saya kasihi, sesudah kami meninggalkan Saudara dan berada jauh dari Saudara untuk sementara waktu (tetapi hati kami tidak pernah jauh dari Saudara), kami sungguh-sungguh berusaha mengunjungi Saudara lagi. 18Kami sangat ingin datang dan saya, Paulus, telah berusaha berkali-kali, tetapi Iblis menghalangi kami. 19Sebab untuk apakah kami hidup, dan siapakah yang mendatangkan pengharapan dan sukacita kepada kami serta menjadi pahala dan mahkota yang kami banggakan? Tidak lain daripada Saudara! Ya, Saudara akan mendatangkan banyak kesukaan kepada kami, pada saat kita bersama-sama berdiri di hadapan Tuhan kita, Yesus Kristus, bilamana Ia datang lagi kelak. 20Karena Saudaralah kebanggaan serta sukacita kami.

How do I do a word study?

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
