Teguh dalam kekuatan Kristus
1 Timotius, anak yang kukasihi, ambillah kekuatan dari kasih karunia yang diberikan Allah kepadamu dalam Kristus Yesus. 2Karena engkau harus mengajarkan kepada orang lain hal-hal yang telah kuajarkan kepadamu dan kepada banyak orang. Ajarkanlah kebenaran-kebenaran ini kepada orang-orang yang dapat dipercaya, yang kemudian akan meneruskannya kepada orang lain lagi.3Sama seperti aku, bersedialah untuk turut menderita sebagai seorang prajurit Yesus Kristus yang baik. 4Sebagai prajurit Kristus, janganlah kaubiarkan dirimu terikat oleh hal-hal duniawi, karena jika demikian, engkau tidak akan dapat memuaskan hati Dia yang mencantumkan namamu di dalam pasukan-Nya. 5Dalam melakukan pekerjaan Tuhan, turutlah peraturan-peraturan-Nya; seperti halnya seorang olahragawan harus mengikuti peraturan, sebab kalau tidak, ia dinyatakan tidak boleh ikut serta dalam perlombaan, sehingga tidak mendapat piala kemenangan. 6Dan siapa yang pertama makan dari panen? Bukankah petani yang bekerja keras di ladang? 7Renungkanlah ketiga lukisan ini, dan semoga Allah menolong engkau untuk memahaminya.
8Jangan pernah lupa bahwa Yesus Kristus keturunan Raja Daud dan dibangkitkan dari antara orang mati oleh Allah. Ini adalah inti Kabar Kesukaan yang aku khotbahkan. 9Karena mengajarkan kebenaran-kebenaran inilah aku berada di sini, dalam kesukaran dan dipenjarakan seperti seorang penjahat. Aku terbelenggu, tetapi firman Allah tidak terbelenggu. 10Aku rela menderita demi keselamatan dan kemuliaan kekal di dalam Kristus Yesus bagi mereka yang telah dipilih Allah.
11Hal ini adalah benar dan layak untuk kepercayaan penuh:
apabila kita sudah mati bersama Kristus,
kita akan hidup bersama-Nya juga.
12Bila kita menderita bersama-Nya,
kita akan memerintah bersama-Nya juga.
Bila kita menyangkal-Nya,
Ia juga akan menyangkal kita.
13Namun bila kita tidak setia,
Ia tetap setia,
karena Ia tidak menyangkal diri-Nya sendiri.
Hindari perdebatan yang sia-sia
14Ingatkanlah orang-orangmu akan kenyataan-kenyataan ini, dan perintahkanlah mereka dalam nama Tuhan supaya tidak berdebat tentang hal-hal yang tidak penting. Perdebatan semacam itu membingungkan dan tidak berfaedah, malah merugikan. 15Bekerjalah dengan keras untuk layak dipuji Allah, seperti seorang pekerja yang tidak perlu merasa malu dengan pekerjaannya, seperti seorang yang memberitakan firman kebenaran dengan tepat. 16Jauhkanlah dirimu dari pembicaraan-pembicaraan kosong orang-orang tertentu. Mereka akan bergerak semakin jauh dari Allah 17dan ajaran palsu mereka akan menyebar seperti kanker. Himeneus dan Filetus termasuk orang-orang semacam itu. 18Mereka telah meninggalkan jalan kebenaran dengan mengajarkan kebohongan bahwa kebangkitan itu sudah terjadi; mereka telah melemahkan iman beberapa orang yang percaya kepada mereka.19Tetapi kebenaran Allah tetap tegak bagai batu karang dan tidak sesuatu pun dapat menggoyahkannya. Dan kata-kata inilah yang tertulis di atasnya: “Tuhan mengenal siapa yang benar-benar milik-Nya,” dan “Setiap orang yang menamakan dirinya orang Kristen, tidak patut melakukan perbuatan-perbuatan yang salah.”
20Di dalam rumah orang kaya, bukan hanya terdapat piring mangkuk dari emas dan perak, melainkan juga dari kayu dan tanah. Piring mangkuk yang mahal dipakai pada perayaan, dan yang murah dipakai di dapur atau untuk penggunaan sehari-hari lainnya. 21Jika engkau menjauhi dosa, engkau akan menjadi seperti piring mangkuk dari emas murni, yang terbaik di dalam rumah, sehingga Kristus sendiri dapat memakai engkau untuk tujuan-Nya yang termulia.
22Jangan biarkan dirimu terbawa oleh nafsu yang membahayakan orang-orang muda! Berusahalah untuk hidup yang sesuai dengan kehendak Allah dan yang diatur oleh iman, cinta, dan kedamaian, bersama semua orang yang benar-benar menyembah Tuhan.
23Sekali lagi kukatakan, janganlah melibatkan dirimu dalam perdebatan yang bodoh, yang hanya akan menyinggung perasaan dan menimbulkan kemarahan. 24Siapa yang mau melayani Allah hendaknya jangan suka bertengkar; orang itu harus dengan lemah lembut dan sabar mengajar orang-orang yang salah. 25Hendaklah dia dengan rendah hati menunjukkan jalan yang benar kepada mereka yang menentang Kabar Kesukaan. Mungkin Allah akan memberi mereka kesempatan untuk bertobat, sehingga mereka akan mengetahui kebenaran 26dan akan sadar. Lalu mereka akan bisa melarikan diri dari perangkap Iblis di mana mereka telah ditawan olehnya untuk melakukan apa pun yang dia inginkan.

How do I do a word study?

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
