Het eerste lot viel op Jozef van de familie van Asaf, het tweede op Gedalja, samen met elf van zijn zonen en broers, het derde op Zakkur en elf van zijn zonen en broers, het vierde op Jizri en elf van zijn zonen en broers, het vijfde op Netanja en elf van zijn zonen en broers, zesde was Bukkiahu met elf van zijn zonen en broers, zevende was Jesarela met elf van zijn zonen en broers, achtste was Jesaja met elf van zijn zonen en broers, negende was Mattanja met elf van zijn zonen en broers, tiende was Simi met elf van zijn zonen en broers, elfde was Azarel met elf van zijn zonen en broers, twaalfde was Chasabja met elf van zijn zonen en broers, dertiende was Subaël met elf van zijn zonen en broers, veertiende was Mattitja met elf van zijn zonen en broers, vijftiende was Jeremot met elf van zijn zonen en broers, zestiende was Chananja met elf van zijn zonen en broers, zeventiende was Josbekasa met elf van zijn zonen en broers, achttiende was Chanani met elf van zijn zonen en broers, negentiende was Malloti met elf van zijn zonen en broers, twintigste was Eliata met elf van zijn zonen en broers, eenentwintigste was Hotir met elf van zijn zonen en broers, tweeëntwintigste was Giddalti met elf van zijn zonen en broers, drieëntwintigste was Machaziot met elf van zijn zonen en broers, vierentwintigste was Romamti-Ezer met elf van zijn zonen en broers. 2 De taak van de tempelwachters

Ook de zonen van Obed-Edom werden als tempelwachters aangesteld: Semaja, de oudste, Jozabad, de tweede, Joach, de derde, Sachar, de vierde, Netanel, de vijfde, Ammiël, de zesde, Issachar, de zevende, en Peülletai, de achtste. Semajaʼs zonen waren allemaal buitengewone mannen met invloedrijke posities in hun familie. Hun namen waren Otni, Refaël, Obed en Elzabad. Hun moedige broers Elihu en Semachjahu waren ook zeer bekwame mannen. 10Al deze zonen en kleinzonen van Obed-Edom, in totaal 62, waren buitengewone mannen, die uitzonderlijk geschikt bleken voor hun werk. 11Meselemjaʼs achttien zonen en broers waren dat ook. 12Chosa, een lid van de Merari-groep, benoemde Simri tot leider van zijn zonen, ook al was hij niet de oudste. 13De namen van enkele anderen van zijn zonen waren Chilkia, de tweede, Tebaljahu, de derde en Zecharja, de vierde. Chosaʼs zonen en broers waren in totaal met dertien man. 14Deze afdelingen van de tempelwachters en hun leiders hadden dus de zorg voor de bewaking van de tempel. Andere Levieten kregen de zorg voor de geschenken die aan de Here werden gegeven en in de schatkamer van het huis van God werden bewaard. Sebuël, een nakomeling van Mozesʼ zoon Gersom, was het hoofd van de schatkamer. Hij had de leiding over de groepen genoemd naar Amram, Jishar, Chebron en Uzziël. 27De geslachtslijn vanaf Eliëzer liep via Rechabja, Jesaja, Joram, Zichri en Selomit. 28Selomit en zijn broers hadden de zorg voor de geschenken die koning David en de andere leiders van het volk, zoals familiehoofden en legerofficieren, de Here gaven. 29Want deze mannen schonken hun oorlogsbuit om te helpen voorzien in de vaste kosten van de tempel. 30Selomit en zijn broers waren eveneens verantwoordelijk voor de geschenken die de profeet Samuël, Saul, de zoon van Kis, Abner, de zoon van Ner, Joab, de zoon van Seruja, en alle andere hoogwaardigheidsbekleders aan de Here hadden gewijd. 31Kenanja en zijn zonen, leden van de familie van Jishar, vervulden de functie van ambtenaren en rechters. 32Chasabja en zeventienhonderd van zijn familieleden uit de familie van Chebron, allemaal zeer bekwame mannen, kregen de leiding over het gedeelte van Israël ten westen van de Jordaan, zij waren verantwoordelijk voor godsdienstige zaken en rijksaangelegenheden in dat gebied.

'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
