3Koning Davids oudste zoon was Amnon, die in Hebron ter wereld werd gebracht door zijn vrouw Achinoam uit Jizreël. De tweede was Daniël, wiens moeder Abigaïl uit Karmel was. 4De derde was Absalom, de zoon van zijn vrouw Maächa, die een dochter was van koning Talmai van Gesur. De vierde was Adonia, de zoon van zijn vrouw Chaggit. 5De vijfde was Sefatja, de zoon van zijn vrouw Abital. De zesde was Jitream, de zoon van zijn vrouw Egla. 6Deze zes werden geboren in Hebron, waar koning David zevenenhalf jaar regeerde. Daarna verhuisde hij naar zijn hoofdstad Jeruzalem, waar hij nog eens drieëndertig jaar regeerde. 7Tijdens zijn verblijf in Jeruzalem bracht zijn vrouw Batseba, de dochter van Ammiël, haar zonen Sima, Sobab, Natan en Salomo ter wereld. 8▼
