Nearja had drie zonen: Eliënai, Chiskia en Azrikam. 1Eliënaiʼs zeven zonen waren Hodawja, Eljasib, Pelaja, Akkub, Jochanan, Delaja en Anani. 2De nakomelingen van Juda
3Dit zijn de zonen van Juda: Peres, Chesron, Karmi, Chur en Sobal. 4Sobals zoon Reaja was de vader van Jachat, die Achumai en Lahad als zonen had. De zoon van Chur, de oudste zoon van Efrat, die de vader van Bethlehem was, had de volgende nakomelingen: Etam, Jizreël, Jisma, Jidbas, Hasselelponi (een dochter), Penuël, de vader van Gedor, en Ezer, de vader van Chusa. 7Aschur, de vader van Tekoa, had twee vrouwen: Chela en Naära. 8Naära bracht Achuzzam, Chefer, Temen en Achastar ter wereld. 9Chela kreeg Seret, Jesochar en Etnan. 10Kos was de vader van Anub en Hassobeba en tevens de voorvader van de familie die werd genoemd naar Acharchel, de zoon van Harum. 11Jabes genoot het meeste aanzien van zijn broers. Zijn moeder noemde hem Jabes omdat de bevalling zo moeilijk verliep. 12Hij was degene die de God van Israël vroeg: ‘Och, zegent U mij alstublieft! Help mij met wat ik doe, opdat mijn bezittingen worden uitgebreid. De nakomelingen van Reka waren Kelub, de broer van Sucha, wiens zoon Mechir de vader van Eston was. Eston was de vader van Betrafa, Paseach en Techinna. Techinna was de vader van Ir-Nachas. 15De zonen van Kenaz waren Otniël en Seraja. Otniëls zonen waren Chatat en Meonotai. 16Meonotai was de vader van Ofra. Seraja was de vader van Joab, de voorvader van de bewoners van het Handwerkersdal, dat zijn naam ontleende aan de vele handwerkslieden die daar woonden. 17De zonen van Kaleb, de zoon van Jefunne, waren Iru, Ela en Naäm. Tot de zonen van Ela behoorde Kenaz. 18Jehallelels zonen waren Zif, Zifa, Tireja en Asarel. 19Ezraʼs zonen waren Jeter, Mered, Efer en Jalon. Mered trouwde met Bitja, een Egyptische prinses. Zij was de moeder van Mirjam, Sammai en Jisbach, de voorvader van Estemoa. 20Estemoaʼs vrouw uit Juda was de moeder van Jered, Cheber en Jekutiël, die respectievelijk de voorvaders van de Gedorieten, Sochoïeten en de Zanoachieten waren. 21Hodiaʼs vrouw was een zuster van Nacham. Een van haar zonen was de vader van de Garmiet Keïla en een andere was de vader van de Maächatiet Estemoa. 22De zonen van Simon waren Amnon, Rinna, Ben-Chanan en Tilon. De zonen van Sela, de zoon van Juda, waren: Er, de vader van Lecha, Lada, de vader van Maresa, de gezinnen van de linnenwevers in Bet-Asbea, Jokim, de families van Kozeba, Joas en Saraf, die over Moab heerste voordat hij terugkeerde naar Jasubi-Lehem. Al deze namen zijn afkomstig uit zeer oude geschriften. 25Deze families stonden bekend als pottenbakkers en bekwame tuinlieden, zij waren allemaal in dienst van de koning. 26De zonen van Simeon waren Nemuël, Jamin, Jarib, Zerach en Saül. 27Saüls zoon was Sallum, zijn kleinzoon was Mibsam en zijn achterkleinzoon was Misma. 28Tot Mismaʼs zonen behoorde Chammuël, de vader van Zakkur en de grootvader van Simi. 29Simi had zestien zonen en zes dochters, maar geen van zijn broers had een groot gezin, zij hadden allemaal minder kinderen dan normaal was in Juda. 30Zij woonden in Berseba, Molada, Chasar-Sual, 31Bilha, Esem, Tolad, 32Betuël, Chorma, Siklag, 33Bet-Hamarkabot, Chasar-Susim, Bet-Biri en Saäraim. Hun nakomelingen woonden ook in of bij Etam, Ain, Rimmon, Tochen en Asan, een gebied dat zich uitstrekte tot Baäl. Zij vonden goede weidegrond in een rustig en vredig gebied, het land was vroeger eigendom van de nakomelingen van Cham. Gedurende de regering van koning Hizkia drongen deze leiders, van wie hier de namen zijn vermeld, het land binnen en verwoestten de tenten en huizen van de Meünieten, zij doodden de inwoners van het land en namen het in bezit.

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
