2Koning Salomo regeerde dus over heel Israël. 3Hier volgt een lijst van de mannen die onder zijn leiding het land Israël bestuurden: Azarja, de zoon van Sadok, was hogepriester, 4Elichoref en Achia, zonen van Sisa, waren secretarissen; Josafat, de zoon van Achilud, was kanselier; 5Benaja, de zoon van Jojada, was opperbevelhebber van het leger; Sadok en Abjatar waren priesters; 6Azarja, de zoon van Natan, was belast met het toezicht op de ambtenaren; Zabud, de zoon van Natan, was priester en een goede vriend van de koning; 7Achisar had de leiding over de hofhouding; Adoniram, de zoon van Abda, stond aan het hoofd van de belastingen. 8Er waren ook nog twaalf ambtenaren aan Salomoʼs hof verbonden die ervoor moesten zorgen dat het volk voedsel leverde voor de hofhouding. De namen van deze twaalf ambtenaren waren: Ben-Chur, die het heuvelgebied van Efraïm onder zich had; Ben-Deker, met onder zich Makas, Saälbim, Bet-Semes en Elon-Bet-Chanan; Ben-Chesed, met onder zich Arubbot, Socho en het land Chefer; Ben-Abinadab, met onder zich het heuvelgebied van Dor. Deze jongeman trouwde bovendien met Salomoʼs dochter Tafat; Baäna, de zoon van Achilud, met onder zich Taänach, Megiddo, geheel Bet-San, dichtbij Saretan ten zuiden van Jizreël en heel het gebied van Bet-San tot Abel-Mechola, dat zich uitstrekte tot aan Jokmeam; Ben-Geber, met onder zich Ramot in Gilead, inclusief de dorpen van Jaïr, de zoon van Manasse, in Gilead, en het gebied van Argob in Basan, waartoe ook zestig ommuurde steden behoorden met koperen grendels op hun poorten; Achinadab, de zoon van Iddo, met Machanaïm onder zich; Achimaäs, die met Basemat trouwde, een van Salomoʼs dochters, had het gebied van Naftali onder zich; Baäna, de zoon van Chusai, had de gebieden van Aser en Alot onder zich; Josafat, de zoon van Paruach, was verantwoordelijk voor Issachar; Simi, de zoon van Ela, had het gebied van Benjamin onder zich; Geber, de zoon van Uri, was ten slotte verantwoordelijk voor Gilead, inclusief de gebieden van koning Sichon van de Amorieten en koning Og van Basan. Hij was de enige hooggeplaatste ambtenaar in dat gebied. 21Israël en Juda vormden in deze periode een rijke en dichtbevolkte staat, waar tevredenheid heerste. 22Koning Salomo regeerde over het hele gebied tussen de Eufraat en het land van de Filistijnen en in zuidelijke richting tot aan de Egyptische grens. De overwonnen volken in die gebieden betaalden Salomo belasting en bleven hem zijn hele leven dienen. 23De dagelijkse hoeveelheden voedsel die nodig waren voor het paleis bedroegen: vijfenzeventighonderd liter fijn meel, vijftienduizend liter gewoon meel, 24tien gemeste runderen, twintig stuks vee uit de weide, honderd schapen en ook nog herten, gazellen, damherten en gemeste ganzen. 25Zijn grondgebied strekte zich uit over alle koninkrijken ten westen van de Eufraat, van Tifsach tot Gaza. En in dat hele gebied heerste vrede. 26Gedurende het leven van Salomo heersten vrede en veiligheid in Israël en Juda en iedereen genoot van de opbrengsten van het land. 27Salomo bezat veertigduizend tuigpaarden en had twaalfduizend wagenmenners in dienst. 28Elke maand zorgden de belastingambtenaren stipt voor voedsel voor koning Salomo en zijn gasten 29en voor het gerst en stro dat in de koninklijke stallen nodig was. 30God gaf Salomo grote wijsheid en veel begrip. Bovendien was hij een man met een brede belangstelling. 31Als het eropaan kwam, was hij wijzer dan alle wijzen uit het oosten, inclusief die uit Egypte. 32Hij was nog wijzer dan de Ezrachiet Etan en Heman en Mahols zonen Kalkol en Darda. Hij was een beroemdheid in alle omringende landen. 33Hij was de maker van drieduizend gezegden en schreef in totaal duizendvijf liederen. 34Verder had hij veel belangstelling voor de natuur en interesseerde hij zich voor zoogdieren, vogels, reptielen, vissen en bomen, van de grote ceders uit de Libanon tot de kleine hysop die in scheuren in de muur groeit.

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
