‘Wanneer u de Jordaan oversteekt en het land binnentrekt dat de Here, uw God, u geeft, neem dan grote stenen uit de rivierbedding mee naar de overkant. Bestrijk de stenen met kalk en schrijf de wetten van God in de kalk. Zo zult u aankomen in het land dat overvloeit van melk en honing, zoals de Here, uw God, dat uw voorouders heeft beloofd. Na de overtocht moet u die stenen op de berg Ebal als een monument oprichten. Mozes en de Levitische priesters richtten het woord tot heel Israël: ‘Wees stil, Israël, en luister! Vandaag bent u het volk van de Here, uw God, geworden. Daarom moet u vandaag beginnen alle wetten en gedragsregels die ik u heb gegeven, te gehoorzamen.’ 11Mozes gaf het volk de volgende instructie: 12‘Als u oversteekt naar het beloofde land, zullen de stammen van Simeon, Levi, Juda, Issachar, Jozef en Benjamin op de berg Gerizim staan om vanaf dat punt een zegen uit te spreken. 13De stammen van Ruben, Gad, Aser, Zebulon, Dan en Naftali zullen op de berg Ebal staan om vandaar af een vloek uit te spreken. 14Dan zullen de Levieten die tussen hen in staan met luide stem tegen heel Israël zeggen: 15“Vervloekt is de man die een beeld maakt en het op een geheime plaats aanbidt, of het nu gemaakt is van steen, hout of gegoten metaal, want de Here haat deze zelfgemaakte goden.” En het hele volk zal antwoorden: “Amen.” 16“Vervloekt is hij die zijn vader en moeder veracht.” En het hele volk zal antwoorden: “Amen.” 17“Vervloekt is hij die de grens tussen zijn land en dat van zijn buurman verlegt.” En het hele volk zal antwoorden: “Amen.” 18“Vervloekt is hij die misbruik maakt van een blinde man.” En het hele volk zal antwoorden: “Amen.” 19“Vervloekt is hij die onrechtvaardig is tegenover de vreemdeling, de wees en de weduwe.” En het hele volk zal antwoorden: “Amen.” 20“Vervloekt is hij die overspel pleegt met een van de vrouwen van zijn vader, want zij is het eigendom van zijn vader.” En het hele volk zal antwoorden: “Amen.” 21“Vervloekt is hij die seksuele omgang heeft met een dier.” En het hele volk zal antwoorden: “Amen.” 22“Vervloekt is hij die seksuele omgang heeft met zijn zuster, of het nu zijn volle zuster of zijn halfzuster is.” En het hele volk zal antwoorden: “Amen.” 23“Vervloekt is hij die gemeenschap heeft met zijn schoonmoeder (die weduwe is).” En het hele volk zal antwoorden: “Amen.” 24“Vervloekt is hij die in het geheim iemand doodt.” En het hele volk zal antwoorden: “Amen.” 25“Vervloekt is hij die een geschenk aanneemt om een onschuldige te doden.” En het hele volk zal antwoorden: “Amen.” 26“Vervloekt is hij die deze wetten niet nauwgezet gehoorzaamt.” En het hele volk zal antwoorden: “Amen.” ’

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
