Reine en onreine dieren
1‘Omdat u het volk van God bent, mag u zich niet snijden als teken van rouw en ook het haar op uw voorhoofd niet afscheren. 2U bent het speciale eigendom van de Here, uw God. U mag geen dieren eten die ik onrein heb verklaard. Dit zijn de dieren die u mag eten: runderen, schapen, geiten, herten, gazellen, reeën, steenbokken, antilopen, berggeiten en wilde schapen. 6Elk dier dat geheel gespleten hoeven heeft en bovendien zijn voedsel herkauwt, mag worden gegeten, 7maar als het dier een van deze beide kenmerken niet heeft, mag u het niet eten. Kamelen, hazen en klipdassen mag u daarom niet eten. Zij herkauwen hun voedsel, maar hebben geen gespleten hoeven en zijn dus onrein. 8Varkens hebben wel gespleten hoeven, maar herkauwen niet, daarom mogen zij niet worden gegeten. Op enkele uitzonderingen na zijn alle gevleugelde insecten onrein voor u en mogen niet worden gegeten. 21Eet niets dat een natuurlijke dood is gestorven. Een buitenlander die bij u woont, mag daarvan wel eten. U mag het hem geven of verkopen maar zelf niet eten, want u bent heilig voor de Here, uw God. Kook een jonge geit niet in de melk van zijn moeder. 22U moet trouw elk jaar de opbrengst van al uw oogsten door tien delen. 23Breng een tiende deel naar de Here, uw God, op de plaats die Hij zal kiezen als zijn heiligdom en eet daar het tiende deel van uw koren, uw jonge wijn, uw olijfolie en het eerstgeborene van de runderen en schapen. Het doel van het geven van de tienden is u te leren God altijd de eerste plaats in uw leven te geven. 24Als de plaats die de Here voor zijn heiligdom kiest, te ver weg is om uw tienden daarheen te kunnen brengen, 25mag u het tiende deel van uw oogsten en kudden verkopen en het geld naar het heiligdom van de Here brengen. 26Als u bij het heiligdom aankomt, mag u het geld gebruiken om er een os, een schaap, wijn of een andere sterkedrank voor te kopen. Voor de ogen van de Here zult u daarmee feestvieren en blij zijn, samen met al uw huisgenoten. 27Vergeet niet uw inkomsten te delen met de Levieten die bij u wonen, want zij hebben geen eigendom en oogsten zoals u. 28Elk derde jaar moet u uw tiende gebruiken om in uw omgeving goed te doen. 29Geef het aan de Levieten, die geen erfdeel onder u hebben, of aan vreemdelingen of weduwen en wezen bij u in de omgeving, zodat zij kunnen eten zoveel als ze nodig hebben. Dan zal de Here, uw God, u en uw werk zegenen.’

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
