Daarom zegt de Oppermachtige Here: “Ik zal orde op zaken stellen tussen de vette en de uitgemergelde schapen. 1Want de vette schapen duwen, jagen en schuiven net zo lang met hun schouders en horens, tot zij mijn zieke en hongerige schapen hebben uiteengedreven. 2Daarom zal Ik mijn kudde Zelf in veiligheid brengen, zij zal niet langer worden mishandeld. En Ik zal rechtspreken tussen het ene schaap en het andere. 3En Ik zal één herder aanstellen over mijn kudde en dat is mijn dienaar David. Hij zal hun te eten geven en een herder voor hen zijn. 4En Ik, de Here, zal hun God zijn en mijn dienaar David zal hun koning zijn. Ik, de Here, heb gesproken. 5Ik zal een vredesverdrag met hen sluiten en de gevaarlijke wilde dieren uit het land wegjagen, zodat mijn volk veilig kan wonen in de woestijn en ongestoord kan slapen in de bossen. 6Ik zal mijn volk en zijn woningen rond mijn heuvel zegenen. Er zullen stromen van zegen neerkomen, want Ik zal de regens niet tegenhouden, maar ze in de normale jaargetijden laten vallen. 7Hun vruchtbomen en akkers zullen rijke oogsten opleveren en iedereen zal in vrede en veiligheid kunnen leven. Als Ik hun slavenketens heb gebroken en hen heb gered uit de macht van hun onderdrukkers, zullen zij weten dat Ik de Here ben. 8Andere volken zullen hen niet meer leegplunderen en de wilde dieren zullen hen niet meer aanvallen. Zij zullen in veiligheid leven en niemand zal hun nog angst aanjagen. 9Ik zal in Israël een plant laten opbloeien waarover iedereen spreekt, zodat mijn volk nooit meer honger zal lijden of de schande van vreemde overheersing zal hoeven te dragen. 10Op die manier zullen zij weten dat Ik, de Here, hun God, hen nabij ben en dat zij, de Israëlieten, mijn volk zijn,” zegt de Oppermachtige Here. 11“U bent mijn kudde, de schapen van mijn weide. U bent mijn volk en Ik ben uw God,” zegt de Oppermachtige Here.’ 12Het lot van de inwoners van Edom

Omdat u mijn volk Israël haat, zal Ik uw steden verwoesten en u tot een onbewoonbaar gebied maken. Dan zult u weten dat Ik de Here ben. U bent altijd al vijanden van Israël geweest en hebt hen overgeleverd aan oorlogsgeweld toen er met Israël werd afgerekend. 18Zo waar Ik leef,” zegt de Oppermachtige Here, “omdat u zo graag bloed ziet vloeien, zal Ik u een bloedbad geven maar dan wel van uw eigen bloed! 19Ik zal de bewoners van de berg Seïr totaal uitroeien. En allen die proberen te ontsnappen of die terugkeren, zullen ook omkomen. 20Ik zal uw bergen vullen met doden, uw heuvels en dalen zullen zijn gevuld met de slachtoffers van het zwaard. 21U zult nooit meer herleven. Voor altijd zult u verlaten liggen, uw steden zullen nooit meer worden herbouwd. Dan zult u weten dat Ik de Here ben. 22Want u zei: ‘Ik zal zowel Israël als Juda in handen krijgen. Wij zullen ze veroveren. Wat kan het ons schelen dat God daar is!’ ” 23Daarom zegt de Oppermachtige Here: “Zo waar Ik leef, Ik zal uw wandaden beantwoorden met mijn toorn, Ik zal u al uw jaloezie en haat betaald zetten. En u zult erachter komen dat Ik elk kwaad woord dat u tegen het bergland van Israël hebt geuit, heb gehoord. ‘Zijn volk is hulpeloos, we kunnen het nu zonder gevaar opslokken,’ zei u in uw grootspraak tegen de Here. En Ik heb alles gehoord! 26De hele wereld zal blij zijn als Ik u in een wildernis verander. 27U had plezier om Israëls lot. Maar nu zal Ik Mij verheugen over het uwe! Uw land zal een woestijn worden. U zult worden weggevaagd, volk van het Seïrgebergte en alle inwoners van Edom! Dan zult u moeten erkennen dat Ik de Here ben!” ’ 28

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
