Dan zal Ik u met zuiver water besprenkelen, zodat u rein wordt. Van al uw onreinheden en van al uw afgoden zal Ik u zuiveren. 1Ik zal u een nieuw hart geven—en nieuwe en goede verlangens—en een nieuwe geest in u planten. Ik zal uw versteende hart wegnemen en u een nieuw hart van vlees ervoor in de plaats geven. 2Doordat mijn Geest in u zal wonen, zult u mijn wetten gehoorzamen en doen wat Ik van u vraag. 3En u zult leven in Israël, het land dat Ik lang geleden aan uw voorouders gaf. U zult mijn volk zijn en Ik zal uw God zijn. 4Ik zal u verlossen van uw zonden. Ook zal Ik u niet langer gebukt laten gaan onder misoogsten en hongersnood, maar u zult een rijke korenoogst binnenhalen. 5Ik zal u grote oogsten geven van uw vruchtbomen en uw akkers, zodat uw buurlanden nooit meer kunnen spotten met uw land vanwege zijn vele hongersnoden. 6Dan zult u zich uw vroegere zonden herinneren en een afschuw van uzelf hebben om alle slechte dingen die u in die tijd deed. 7Maar vergeet nooit dat Ik dit niet doe ter wille van u, maar ter wille van Mijzelf. Och mijn volk Israël, schaam u diep om alles wat u hebt gedaan!” 8De Oppermachtige Here zegt: “Op de dag dat Ik u reinig van uw zonden, zal Ik u ook weer terugbrengen naar uw vaderland Israël en de verwoeste steden zullen worden herbouwd. 9De landbouwgrond die al die jaren van uw verbanning braak lag, zal weer in cultuur worden gebracht. Allen die er in die tijd voorbijkwamen, waren onthutst door de omvang van de verwoestingen in uw land. 10Maar als Ik u terugbreng, zullen zij zeggen: ‘Dit verwoeste land is veranderd in een tuin van Eden! De verwoeste steden zijn hersteld en ommuurd en worden weer bewoond!’ 11Dan zullen de volken rondom, allen die nog zijn overgebleven, weten dat Ik, de Here, heb hersteld wat verwoest was en gewassen heb geplant in de wildernis. De Oppermachtige Here zegt: “Ik sta opnieuw klaar om te luisteren naar Israëls gebeden, waarin om deze zegeningen wordt gevraagd. En die gebeden ga Ik ook verhoren. Zij hoeven het slechts te vragen en Ik zal hen vermenigvuldigen als de kudden die Jeruzalems straten vullen rond de tijd van de offerplechtigheden. De verwoeste steden zullen opnieuw worden bewoond en iedereen zal weten dat Ik de Here ben.” ’ 14 Het dal met beenderen

De kracht van de Here rustte op mij en de Geest van de Here nam mij mee naar een dal vol beenderen. Hij leidde mij ertussendoor. 17Toen zei Hij: ‘Mensenzoon, kunnen deze beenderen weer mensen worden?’ Ik antwoordde: ‘Och Here, alleen U kent het antwoord op die vraag.’ 18Toen droeg Hij mij op te profeteren en tegen de beenderen te zeggen: ‘Verbleekte beenderen, luister naar de woorden van de Here. 19Want de Oppermachtige Here zegt: “Kijk, Ik ga u weer levend maken. 20Ik zal u weer vlees en pezen geven en u bedekken met huid. Ik zal u adem geven en u zult tot leven komen en weten dat Ik de Here ben.” ’ 21Ik sprak deze woorden van de Here uit, precies zoals Hij mij had opgedragen. En plotseling klonk een luid geklepper door het dal. De beenderen van de lichamen kwamen bij elkaar en voegden zich aaneen zoals zij vroeger hadden gezeten. 22Met mijn eigen ogen zag ik dat daarna vlees en pezen op de beenderen verschenen en er huid overheen kwam. Maar leven was erin nog niet zichtbaar. 23Toen gaf Hij mij opdracht de wind te roepen en te zeggen: ‘De Oppermachtige Here zegt: “Kom vanuit de vier windstreken, geest, en laat uw adem over deze dode lichamen gaan, zodat zij weer tot leven komen.” ’ 24Zo sprak ik tegen de windrichtingen, zoals Hij mij had opgedragen en de lichamen begonnen te ademen, zij kwamen tot leven en stonden op: een onafzienbare menigte. 25Toen vertelde Hij mij wat dit visioen betekende. ‘Deze beenderen,’ zei Hij, ‘stellen alle inwoners van Israël voor. Zij zeggen: “Onze beenderen zijn uitgedroogd, er is geen hoop meer, het is met ons gedaan.” 26Maar vertel hun dat de Oppermachtige Here zegt: “Mijn volk, Ik zal uw graven van ballingschap openen en u weer laten opstaan, zodat u kunt terugkeren naar het land Israël. 27Uiteindelijk zult u, mijn volk, dan weten dat Ik de Here ben. 28Ik zal mijn Geest in u laten wonen en u zult leven en terugkeren naar uw vaderland. Dan zult u erkennen dat Ik, de Here, precies heb gedaan wat Ik u had beloofd.” ’ 29Opnieuw kwam er een boodschap van de Here voor mij:

How do I do a word study?

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
