De Geest tilde mij op en nam mij mee naar Tel-Abib, bij de ballingen aan de rivier de Kebar. Ik kwam daar opgewonden aan met een bezwaard hart, want de hand van de Here drukte zwaar op mij. Zo verbleef ik zeven dagen onder de ballingen. Ik was verbijsterd en kon geen woord uitbrengen. 4Na die zeven dagen zei de Here tegen mij: 5‘Mensenzoon, Ik heb u als wachter over Israël aangesteld, elke keer als Ik mijn volk een waarschuwing geef, moet u die onmiddellijk doorgeven. 6Als u weigert de goddeloze te waarschuwen, als Ik wil dat u hem vertelt: “U zult binnenkort sterven, bekeer u daarom en red uw leven,” dan zal hij in zijn zonden sterven, maar Ik zal u dan voor zijn dood ter verantwoording roepen. 7Maar als u hem wel waarschuwt en hij blijft zondigen en weigert zich te bekeren, zal hij in zijn zonden sterven, maar buiten uw schuld. U hebt alles gedaan wat u kon en zult vrijuit gaan. 8Als een goed mens afdwaalt en slechte dingen gaat doen en u weigert hem op de gevolgen daarvan te wijzen en Ik vernietig hem, zullen zijn vroegere goede daden hem niet helpen, hij zal in zijn zonde sterven. Maar Ik zal u verantwoordelijk stellen voor zijn dood en u eveneens straffen. 9Maar als u hem wel waarschuwt en hij bekeert zich, dan zal hij blijven leven omdat hij zich de waarschuwing aantrok, en dan hebt u ook uw eigen leven gered.’ 10Opnieuw werd ik gegrepen door het besef van Gods tegenwoordigheid. Toen Hij tegen mij zei: ‘Ga naar het dal, dan zal Ik daar met u spreken,’ stond ik op en ging. 11Daar zag ik de heerlijkheid van de Here opnieuw, net als in mijn eerste visioen. Met mijn gezicht naar beneden liet ik mij op de grond vallen. 12Toen kwam de Geest in mij en kon ik weer rechtop staan. Hij sprak tegen mij en zei: ‘Ga en sluit uzelf op in uw huis, 13daar zal men u vastbinden, zodat u niet weg kunt 14en Ik zal uw tong aan uw gehemelte laten kleven, zodat u niet tot het volk zult kunnen spreken, want het zijn opstandige mensen. 15Elke keer als Ik u een boodschap geef, zal Ik uw tong losmaken, zodat u kunt spreken en dan zult u tegen hen zeggen: “De Oppermachtige Here zegt: ‘Laat iedereen luisteren die wil luisteren, en wie dat niet wil, moet het maar laten. ‘Welnu, mensenzoon, neem een kleitablet, leg die voor u neer en teken er de plattegrond van Jeruzalem op. Maak een tekening van belegeringswallen die tegen de muren worden gebouwd, vijandelijke kampen eromheen en overal rond de muren stormrammen. 19Zet een ijzeren plaat tussen u en de stad, als een ijzeren muur. Richt voortdurend uw ogen op de stad, als zou u haar willen belegeren. Zo laat u zien dat een vijandelijk leger Jeruzalem zal innemen! Er zit een speciale bedoeling achter elke handeling die Ik u heb laten doen. Ga driehonderdnegentig dagen op uw linkerzij liggen om de zonden van Israël te dragen. Daarmee laat u zien dat Israël driehonderdnegentig jaar lang zal worden gestraft met gevangenschap en verguizing. Elke dag dat u daar ligt, staat voor één jaar bestraffing van Israël in de toekomst. 22Draai u daarna om en ga veertig dagen op uw rechterzij liggen. Dit keer draagt u de zonden van Juda. Elke dag telt voor één jaar. 23Ga ondertussen gewoon door met uw uitbeelding van Jeruzalems beleg, spreek uw profetieën uit met één ontblote arm, terwijl u daar ligt (als aanduiding van de kracht en de grote omvang van de aanval die tegen haar wordt gericht). Dit zal haar ondergang aankondigen! 24Ik zal u bovendien vastbinden, zodat u zich niet van de ene op de andere zij kunt draaien, tot u het aantal dagen van haar belegering hebt volgemaakt. 25Tijdens de eerste driehonderdnegentig dagen moet u brood eten, gemaakt uit een mengsel van tarwe, gerst, bonen, linzen, gierst en spelt. Zoek daarom nu deze ingrediënten bij elkaar en vermeng ze in een pot. 26U moet uzelf op rantsoen zetten en elke keer tweehonderd gram brood eten, één maaltijd per dag. 27Drink elke dag één liter water, neem regelmatig een slok.

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
