1Mirno in neustrašeno je Pavel pogledal člane sodnega zbora in dejal: “Možje! Dragi bratje! Vse svoje življenje sem služil Bogu in sicer s čisto vestjo.” 2Tedaj je zapovedal veliki duhovnik Hananija tistim, ki so stali poleg Pavla, naj ga udarijo po ustih. 3Pavel pa mu je dejal: “Bog bo udaril tebe, stena pobeljena! Kakšen sodnik pa si, ko sam kršiš zakon, s tem da zahtevaš, naj me udarijo!” 4Tedaj so se nekateri dvignili: “Kako si dovoliš žaliti Božjega velikega duhovnika?” 5“Nisem vedel, bratje, da je to veliki duhovnik,” je dejal Pavel, “kajti dobro vem, da v Svetem pismu piše: ‘Ne žali voditelja svojega ljudstva.’ ” ▼▼2. Mojzesova 22,27.
6Pavel je vedel, da so med prisotnimi saduceji kakor tudi farizeji. Zato je glasno zaklical: “Bratje, farizej sem, prav tako kot moji predniki ▼▼V izvirniku: in sin farizejev.
in zdaj mi sodite, ker verujem v vstajenje mrtvih.” 7Te besede so izzvale prepir med farizeji in saduceji in zbrani so se razdelili v dva tabora. 8V nasprotju s farizeji so saduceji trdili: Saj vstajenja mrtvih sploh ni in prav tako ni angelov ali duhov. 9Debata je bila vedno glasnejša. Razburjeni so nekateri verski učitelji izmed farizejev vstali in kričali: “Ta mož ni zakrivil ničesar, za kar bi ga mogli obsoditi. Morda mu je v resnici govoril kakšen duh ali angel na poti v Damask.” 10Hrup je bil vedno večji in možje so se prerivali okrog Pavla ter ga vlekli najprej na eno potem pa spet na drugo stran. Poveljnik se je bal, da ga bodo raztrgali, zato je nazadnje ukazal vojakom, naj ga odpeljejo nazaj v trdnjavo. 11Naslednjo noč je stal Gospod ob Pavlovi strani in mu dejal: “Ne boj se, Pavel. Prav tako kot si govoril ljudstvu o meni tukaj v Jeruzalemu, moraš biti moja priča tudi v Rimu!”
Pavla hočejo umoriti
12Ko se je zdanilo, se je srečalo nekaj Judov. Svečano so se zakleli, da ne bodo niti jedli niti pili, dokler jim ne uspe spraviti Pavla s poti. 13Več kot štirideset mož je položilo to zakletev. 14Odšli so k velikim duhovnikom in k voditeljem ljudstva, da bi jim sporočili: “Zakleli smo se, da ne bomo jedli, dokler ne umorimo tega Pavla. 15Poskrbite, da ga poveljnik še enkrat privede na zaslišanje. Recite, da bi radi zadevo še bolje proučili. Vse drugo prepustite nam. Na poti ga bomo umorili.” 16Sin Pavlove sestre pa je izvedel za njihov načrt ter je odšel v trdnjavo in vse to povedal Pavlu. 17Pavel je potem poklical k sebi enega izmed oficirjev: “Odpelji tega mladeniča k poveljniku. Mora mu povedati nekaj zelo pomembnega.” 18Oficir je storil to in pojasnil: “Jetnik Pavel me je poklical k sebi in me prosil, naj odvedem tega mladeniča k tebi. On ti mora nekaj pomembnega povedati.” 19Poveljnik je prijel mladeniča za roko, ga odpeljal vstran in ga vprašal: “Kaj je to, kar mi želiš povedati?” 20Brž je začel pripovedovati: “Judje te nameravajo zaprositi, da jutri še enkrat pripelješ Pavla pred sodni zbor, da bi izvedeli še kaj več o njem. To pa je samo pretveza. 21Ne verjemi jim, kajti štirideset mož leži skritih ob poti z namenom, da ga umorijo. Zakleli so se, da ne bodo niti jedli niti pili, dokler se to ne zgodi. Zdaj čakajo samo na tvoj pristanek.” 22Mladenič je zapustil trdnjavo, potem ko mu je poveljnik zabičal, naj nikomur ne pripoveduje o vsem tem.Pavla odpeljejo v Cezarejo
23Takoj nato je poveljnik poklical k sebi dva oficirja in jima naročil: “Danes zvečer ob devetih naj bo dvesto vojakov pripravljenih, da odkorakajo v Cezarejo skupaj z dvestotimi suličarji in sedemdesetimi konjeniki. 24Daj Pavlu konja, na katerem naj jezdi in poskrbi, da varno pride do guvernerja Feliksa.” 25Potem je napisal pismo guvernerju, ki se je glasilo takole:26“Od Klavdija Lizija.
Njegovemu veličanstvu, guvernerju Feliksu. Prisrčen pozdrav.
27Judje so prijeli tega moža. Hoteli so ga umoriti. Poslal sem vojake, da bi ga osvobodili, kajti izvedel sem, da je rimski državljan. 28Ker sem želel slišati, kaj je storil, sem ga privedel pred njihov sodni zbor. 29Tam se je izkazalo, da pravzaprav ni storil ničesar, za kar bi zaslužil smrtno kazen ali pa ječo. Gre za sporna vprašanja njihove religije. 30Ko pa sem slišal, da ga znova poskušajo umoriti, sem se odločil, da ga pošljem k tebi. Njegovim tožnikom sem svetoval, naj vložijo svojo tožbo zoper njega pri tebi.”
31Vojaki so še tisto noč pripeljali Pavla v Antipatrido, kot jim je naročil poveljnik. 32Naslednje jutro so se pešaki vrnili v Jeruzalem, medtem ko so konjeniki nadaljevali pot s Pavlom. 33V Cezareji so izročili guvernerju pismo kakor tudi jetnika. 34Ko je guverner prebral pismo, je vprašal Pavla, iz katere pokrajine je po rodu. “Iz Kilikije,” je odvrnil Pavel. 35“Ko bodo prišli sem tvoji tožniki,” je zdaj odločil guverner, “bom rešil tvojo zadevo.” Na Feliksovo zahtevo so Pavla držali kot jetnika v palači kralja Heroda.

How do I do a word study?

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
