1Kdor torej pripada Jezusu Kristusu, ga ne čaka več nobena obsodba. 2Moč Duha, ki daje življenje – po Jezusu Kristusu pa je ta moč moja – me je osvobodila iz tega začaranega kroga greha in smrti. 3To, da znamo Božje zapovedi, nas ni osvobodilo iz objema greha. Saj jih ne izpolnjujemo, pa tudi ne moremo jih izpolnjevati. Zato pa se je Bog poslužil drugega načrta, da bi nas rešil. Poslal je k nam svojega Sina v telesu, podobnem grešnemu človeku, da bi strl moč greha nad nami, ko je dal sebe kot žrtev za naše grehe. 4Zdaj lahko delamo Božjo voljo, tako kot je zakon že vedno od nas zahteval, ker odloča Božji Duh in ne več naša grešna narava o našem življenju.5Komur gospodujejo lastne želje in nagoni, misli samo na to, kar želi njegovo telo. Če pa v nas prebiva Božji Duh, se naše misli vrtijo okrog tega, kar želi Duh. 6Misli stare, grešne narave nam prinašajo samo smrt. Misli, ki so pod kontrolo Božjega Duha, pa nam dajejo mir in življenje. 7Misli naše stare narave so vedno v nesoglasju z Bogom. Nočejo se podrediti Božjemu zakonu, sicer pa se tudi ne morejo. 8Zato Bog v našem življenju – takšnem kot ono je – ne najde ničesar, kar bi mu bilo po volji.
9Zdaj pa se je Božji Duh naselil v nas, zato nam naša grešna narava več ne gospoduje. Zapomnite si to: kdor nima Kristusovega Duha, tudi ni njegov. 10Če v vas živi Kristus, mora telo sicer umreti zaradi greha, vaš duh pa bo živel, ker vam je Bog odpustil grehe. ▼

11Če Božji Duh, ki je obudil Jezusa Kristusa od mrtvih, prebiva v vas, bo obudil tudi vaša umrljiva telesa potem, ko boste umrli, po istem svetem Duhu, ki prebiva v vas. 12Dragi bratje, zdaj vam več ni treba izpolnjevati nobenih želja in dolžnosti v odnosu do stare človeške narave. 13Kdor jih namreč izpolnjuje, je zapisan smrti. Če pa poslušate Božji glas in se ravnate po tem, kar vam on govori, boste živeli in z močjo Svetega Duha bodo sebične želje v vas strte. 14Vsi, ki dovolijo Svetemu Duhu, da vlada v njihovih življenjih, so Božji otroci. ▼

15Sveti Duh vas ne vodi v novo suženjstvo; nasprotno, zdaj ste postali Božji otroci. Brez strahu lahko pridete k Bogu in ga imenujete svojega Očeta. ▼▼V izvirniku: Niste namreč prejeli duha suženjstva, da bi spet zapadli v strah, ampak ste prejeli Duha posinovljenja, v katerem kličemo Aba, Oče!
16Sveti Duh sam nam v naši notranjosti potrjuje, da smo Božji otroci. 17Kot njegovi otroci pa bomo s Kristusom delili tudi vse njegovo bogastvo – kajti vse to, kar Bog daje svojemu Sinu Jezusu, je zdaj tudi naše. Če bomo torej z njim delili njegovo slavo, moramo deliti tudi njegovo trpljenje. Upanje za vse, kar je ustvarjeno

ni nič v primerjavi s slavo, ki nam jo bo dal pozneje. 19Zato vse, kar je ustvarjeno, željno in polno upanja pričakuje dan, ko bo Bog sprejel svoje otroke v to slavo. 20Po človekovi krivdi je tudi vse ostalo na tej zemlji obsojeno na smrt in razpadanje. Toda Bog je to dopustil in obljubil, da bo nekega dne prišel konec grehu, smrti in razpadanju. 21Tedaj bo vse ustvarjeno delilo z Božjimi otroki čudovito novo življenje. 22Saj vidimo, kako vse stvarstvo trpi in čaka v bolečinah, da bi se znova rodilo. 23Pa tudi mi, ki nam je Bog že dal svojega Duha ▼▼V izvirniku: imamo prvine Duha.
s hrepenenjem pričakujemo, da nas Bog vzame k sebi kot svoje otroke in osvobodi tudi naša telesa minljivosti. 24Zaenkrat lahko samo upamo in pričakujemo, da se bo to zgodilo. Upati pa pomeni, v naprej se veseliti nečesa, česar še nimamo – saj nam ni treba upati in verovati, da bomo dobili nekaj, kar že imamo. 25Če moramo še naprej verovati Bogu za nekaj, kar se ni zgodilo, se učimo potrpežljivosti. 26Pri tem nam pomaga Sveti Duh v vseh naših slabostih in stiskah. Saj večkrat ne vemo, kako naj bi sploh molili, da bi nas Bog uslišal. Zato nam Sveti Duh pomaga in moli za nas na tak način, kot mi z našimi besedami nikoli ne bi mogli. ▼

27Saj Bog, ki nas dobro pozna, tudi ve, kaj Sveti Duh moli za nas; on nas namreč zastopa v molitvi v skladu z Božjo voljo. 28Dobro pa vemo to, da je vse, kar se dogaja z nami, koristno za nas, če ljubimo Boga in smo se vključili v njegov načrt; v ta namen nas je Bog tudi izbral in poklical. 29Če je Bog nekoga izbral, je tega po svoji volji tudi določil, da bo podoben njegovemu Sinu, prvemu med mnogimi brati. 30Kogar pa je Bog določil za to, tega je tudi poklical k sebi; kogar pa je poklical k sebi, tega je tudi osvobodil krivde. Kogar pa je osvobodil krivde, ta v veri že deli z njim njegovo slavo. Božja brezmejna ljubezen
31Ali res lahko pričakujemo še kaj več? Če je Bog z nami – ali je tedaj sploh pomembno, kdo je proti nam? 32Ali bi nam mogel Bog, ki je za nas žrtvoval svojega Sina, karkoli odreči? 33Kaj bi tudi koristilo, če bi kdo obtožil tiste, ki jih je Bog izbral? Saj jih je Bog sam imenoval nedolžne. 34Kaj bi pomagalo, če bi jih kdo obsodil? Saj je Kristus umrl zanje in še več kot samo to: on je tudi vstal od mrtvih in jih zdaj zastopa pred Bogom. 35Kaj nas zdaj more ločiti od Kristusa in njegove ljubezni? Morda trpljenje in strah? Preganjanje? Lakota? Siromaštvo? Nevarnost ali nasilna smrt? 36Saj že Sveto pismo govori, da verne čakajo mnoge preizkušnje, ko pravi: “Kot ovce, ki so namenjene za zakol, vas bodo vsepovsod preganjali in morili.” ▼▼Psalm 44,23.
37Toda vse to bomo premagali, ker nas je Kristus tako ljubil. 38Prepričan sem, da nas ne morejo niti smrt, niti življenje, niti angeli, niti demoni, ▼▼V izvirniku: poglavarstva.
niti skrbi za sedanjost, niti za prihodnost, niti sile nad oblaki, 39niti tiste v globinah, ničesar nas ne more ločiti od Božje ljubezni, ki nam jo je Bog dokazal v Jezusu Kristusu, našem Gospodu.

How do I do a word study?

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
