Izrael, ljudstvo, ki ga je Bog izvolil
1Kristus mi je priča in Sveti Duh potrjuje meni in tudi moji vesti, da je res tako, kot vam zagotavljam: 2Žalosten sem in čutim bolečino v srcu, kadar mislim na Izraela. 3Če bi pomagalo mojim bratom, mojemu ljudstvu, bi vzel nase prekletstvo in bi pristal na to, da sem ločen od Kristusa, če bi bili oni tedaj rešeni. 4Bog je tako bogato obdaroval Izraela; saj jih je izbral za svoje ljudstvo. ▼▼V izvirniku: oni so Izraelci, njim je bilo dano posinovljenje.
Njim se je razodeval v moči in slavi. Vedno znova je z njimi sklepal zaveze in dal jim je svoje zapovedi. Na njihovih bogoslužjih je Bog prisoten in njim veljajo njegove obljube. 5Abraham, Izak in Jakob so njihovi praočetje in Kristus sam izhaja iz tega ljudstva. Njega, ki vlada kot Bog vsemu, častimo na veke. Amen. Kdo je član Božjega ljudstva?
6Vse to ima vsekakor svojo veljavo, čeprav niso vsi izmed izraelskega ljudstva tudi člani Božjega izvoljenega ljudstva. 7Niso vsi Abrahamovi potomci tudi Božji otroci. Kajti Bog je dejal Abrahamu: “Samo potomci tvojega sina Izaka naj se prištevajo k tvojemu ljudstvu.” ▼▼1. Mojzesova 21,12.
8To pomeni, da niso vsi Abrahamovi otroci tudi Božji otroci. Samo tisti se računa, ki ima – tako kot Izak – Božjo obljubo. 9Kajti Bog je obljubil Abrahamu: “Naslednje leto ob tem času bom prišel in tedaj bo Sara imela sina.” ▼▼1. Mojzesova 18,10.14.
10Abrahamova žena Sara pa ni edina, ki se ji je zgodilo tako. Kako pa je bilo z Rebeko, Izakovo ženo? 11Še preden sta se rodila njena sinova Ezav in Jakob, torej še preden sta storila karkoli dobrega ali hudega, ji je Bog dejal: 12“Starejši naj se podredi mlajšemu.” ▼▼1. Mojzesova 25,23.
S tem je Bog jasno priznal, da njegove obljube počivajo izključno na njegovi volji in na njegovi milosti in v ničemer niso odvisne od človekovih dejanj. 13Tako je Bog dejal: “Jakoba – ne Ezava – sem izvolil.” ▼▼V izvirniku: “Jakoba sem ljubil, Ezava pa sovražil.” (Malahija 1,1-2).
Boga ne moremo pozvati na zagovor
14Ali to pomeni, da je Bog nepravičen? Nikakor! 15Mojzesu je Bog nekoč dejal: “Svojo dobroto izkazujem, komur hočem. Katerega hočem, tistega se usmilim.” ▼▼2. Mojzesova 33,19.
16Ni odločilno to, koliko se kdo trudi ali koliko si prizadeva, ampak je pomembno, da se ga Bog usmili. 17Kako je bilo s faraonom, egiptovskim kraljem, ki se je upiral Božjim zapovedim? Njemu je Bog dejal: “Postavil sem te za kralja nad Egiptom, da bi zaradi tvoje neposlušnosti vsi videli mojo moč in da bi se moje ime razglasilo po vsej zemlji.” ▼▼2. Mojzesova 9,16.
18Bog torej izkazuje svoje usmiljenje, komur hoče in zadržuje svoje usmiljenje, komur hoče. 19Gotovo me boste zdaj vprašali: “Kako more Bog potem še govoriti o naši krivdi? Ali sploh moremo kaj podvzeti proti Božji volji?” 20Na to lahko odgovorim samo takole: Kdo ste pravzaprav vi, ljudje, ki menite, da lahko Boga pokličete na zagovor? Ali res mislite, da se Stvarnik mora zagovarjati pred svojim stvarstvom? 21Nazadnje tudi lončar iz gline lahko oblikuje dragoceno posodo, ali pa čisto navadno posodo za vsakdanjo rabo. 22Ali nima Bog vso pravico pokazati svojo jezo in svojo moč na tistih, ki so pripravljeni za pogubo, s katerimi je imel ves ta čas potrpljenje? 23– 24Prav tako pa ima tudi pravico nad drugimi, ki so bili pripravljeni za to, da bi Bog izlil nadnje bogastvo svoje slave, bodisi da so to Judje ali pa pripadniki drugih narodov, pokazati svojo naklonjenost, da bi vsi videli, kako velika je njegova slava. Tem pripadamo tudi mi. 25Spomnite se samo besed preroka Ozeja! Takole pravi Bog:
“Nekoč bom imenoval svoje ljudstvo tiste,
ki doslej to niso bili.
Izvolil bom tiste,
ki doslej niso bili moji izvoljenci.
26Tisti, ki so jim pravili: ‘Vi niste moje ljudstvo,’
se bodo imenovali ‘otroci živega Boga’.” ▼

27Svojemu ljudstvu Izraelu pa je Bog dejal preko preroka Izaije:
“Čeprav so Izraelci tako številni kot morski pesek,
bodo vendarle samo nekateri rešeni.
28Gospod bo namreč kmalu sodil zemlji in to enkrat za vselej.” ▼

29O tem je Izaija govoril že prej:
“Če ne bi Gospod nebeških vojsk ▼
▼V izvirniku: Gospod Sabaot.
ohranil majhnega dela judovskega ljudstva,bi bili vsi pogubljeni kot ljudje iz Sodome in Gomore.” ▼

Kriva pot
30Kaj vam želim povedati s tem? Ljudje iz vseh ljudstev, ki se niso (kot Judje) trudili, da bi zadovoljili Boga, so kljub temu Bogu po volji zaradi svoje vere v Jezusa Kristusa. 31Izrael pa, ki si je toliko prizadeval, da bi izpolnil Božje zapovedi, da bi tako obstal pred Bogom, ni dosegel cilja. 32Zakaj pa ne? To ljudstvo je hotelo zadovoljiti Boga s svojimi deli in s svojimi zaslugami, namesto da bi se zanesli na vero v Kristusa. Spotaknili so se ob kamen, 33prav kot jih je Bog že preko preroka Izaije svaril:“Poglejte, v Jeruzalemu polagam kamen,
ob katerem se boste spotaknili,
oviro, čez katero boste padli.
Kdor pa veruje vanj, bo živel.” ▼

How do I do a word study?

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
