Naging Hari si David sa Israel
(2 Sam. 5:1-10)
1Pumunta ang lahat ng Israelita kay David sa Hebron at sinabi, “Mga kamag-anak mo kami. 2Mula pa noon, kahit nang si Saul pa ang aming hari, ikaw na ang namumuno sa mga Israelita sa pakikipaglaban. At sinabi sa iyo ng Panginoon na iyong Dios, ‘Aalagaan mo ang mga mamamayan kong Israelita, tulad ng isang pastol ng mga tupa. Ikaw ang mamumuno sa kanila.’ ” 3Kaya roon sa Hebron, gumawa si David ng kasunduan sa mga tagapamahala ng Israel sa harap ng Panginoon, at pinahiran nila ng langis ang ulo ni David bilang pagkilala na siya na ang hari ng Israel, ayon sa ipinangako ng Panginoon sa pamamagitan ni Samuel.4 Isang araw, pumunta si David at lahat ng mga Israelita sa Jerusalem (na dating Jebus) para lusubin ito. Ang mga Jebuseo na nakatira roon 5ay nagsabi kay David, “Hindi kayo makakapasok dito.” Pero naagaw nina David ang matatag na kuta ng Zion, ▼

na sa bandang huliʼy tinawag na Lungsod ni David. 6Sinabi ni David, “Ang sinumang manguna sa paglusob sa mga Jebuseo ang magiging kumander ng mga sundalo.” Si Joab na anak ni Zeruya ang nanguna sa paglusob kaya siya ang naging kumander.
7Pagkatapos maagaw ni David ang matatag na kutang iyon, doon na siya tumira. At tinawag niya itong Lungsod ni David. 8Pinadagdagan niya ang mga pader sa paligid mula sa mababang parte ng lungsod. Si Joab ang namamahala sa pag-aayos ng ibang bahagi ng lungsod. 9Naging makapangyarihan si David, dahil tinutulungan siya ng Panginoong Makapangyarihan.
Ang Matatapang na Tauhan ni David
(2 Sam. 23:8-39)
10Ito ang mga pinuno ng matatapang na tauhan ni David. Sila at ang lahat ng Israelita ay sumuporta sa paghahari ni David ayon sa ipinangako ng Panginoon tungkol sa Israel. 11Si Jashobeam na Hacmoneo, ang nangunguna sa tatlo ▼▼tatlo: Ito ang nasa ibang mga teksto ng Septuagint (tingnan din sa 2 Sam. 23:8). Sa Hebreo, 30.

na mula sa angkan ni Ahoa. Isa rin siya sa tatlo na matatapang na tauhan ni David. 13– 14Isa siya sa mga sumama kay David nang nakipaglaban sila sa mga Filisteo sa Pas Damim. Doon sila naglaban sa taniman ng sebada. Tumakas ang mga Israelita pero sina Eleazar at David ay nanatili sa gitna ng taniman, at pinatay nila ang mga Filisteo. Pinagtagumpay sila ng Panginoon. 15Isang araw, pumunta kay David ang tatlo niyang tauhan doon sa kweba ng Adulam. Ang tatlong ito ay kabilang sa 30 matatapang na mga tauhan ni David. Nagkakampo noon ang mga Filisteo sa Lambak ng Refaim, 16at naagaw nila ang Betlehem. Habang naroon si David sa isang matatag na kublihan, 17nauhaw siya. Sinabi niya, “Mabuti sana kung may kukuha sa akin ng tubig na maiinom doon sa balon malapit sa pintuang bayan ng Betlehem.” 18Kaya palihim na pumasok ang tatlong matatapang na iyon sa kampo ng mga Filisteo, malapit sa pintuang bayan ng Betlehem. Kumuha sila ng tubig sa balon at dinala ito kay David. Pero hindi ito ininom ni David, sa halip ibinuhos niya ito bilang handog sa Panginoon. 19Sinabi niya, “O Dios ko, hindi ko po ito maiinom dahil kasinghalaga ito ng dugo ng mga taong nagtaya ng kanilang buhay sa pagkuha nito.” Kaya hindi ito ininom ni David.
Iyon nga ang mga ginawa ng tatlong matatapang na tauhan ni David.

Marami siyang kabayanihang ginawa, kabilang na rito ang pagpatay sa dalawang pinakamahuhusay na sundalo ng Moab. Minsan, kahit umuulan ng yelo, bumaba siya sa pinagtataguan ng leon at pinatay ito. 23Bukod dito, pinatay niya ang isang Egipciong may taas na pitoʼt kalahating talampakan. Ang armas ng Egipcio ay sibat na mabigat at makapal, ▼

pero ang armas niyaʼy isang pamalo lang. Inagaw niya ang sibat sa Egipcio at ito rin ang ipinampatay niya rito. 24Ito ang mga ginawa ni Benaya na anak ni Jehoyada. Naging tanyag din siya gaya ng tatlong matatapang na tao, 25pero hindi siya kabilang sa kanila. At dahil siya ang pinakatanyag sa kanyang 30 kasama, ginawa siyang pinuno ni David ng kanyang mga personal na tagapagbantay. 26Ito ang matatapang na kawal:

How do I do a word study?

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
