Naiwan si Saul sa Gilgal, at nanginginig sa takot ang mga kasama niya. 8Naghintay si Saul kay Samuel sa Gilgal ng pitong araw ayon sa sinabi ni Samuel sa kanya, pero hindi dumating si Samuel. Nang makita ni Saul na unti-unting nag-aalisan ang mga kasama niya, sinabi niya, 9“Dalhin ninyo sa akin ang handog na sinusunog at ang handog para sa mabuting relasyon.” ▼

At inialay ni Saul ang mga handog na sinusunog. 10Nang patapos na siya, dumating si Samuel. Sinalubong niya ito upang batiin, pero nagtanong si Samuel, 11“Ano ang ginawa mo?” Sumagot si Saul, “Nakita ko na unti-unting nag-aalisan ang mga kasama ko, at hindi ka dumating sa oras na sinabi mo, at nagtitipon na ang mga Filisteo sa Micmash. 12Inisip ko na baka salakayin kami ng mga Filisteo rito sa Gilgal at hindi pa nakakapaghandog sa Panginoon para humingi ng tulong sa kanya. Kaya napilitan akong mag-alay ng handog na sinusunog.” 13Sinabi ni Samuel, “Kahangalan ang ginawa mo! Hindi mo sinunod ang utos na ibinigay sa iyo ng Panginoon na iyong Dios. Kung sumunod ka lang sana, ang sambahayan mo ang maghahari sa Israel habang panahon. 14Pero hindi na ito mangyayari dahil nakakita na ang Panginoon ng taong susunod sa kagustuhan niya, at ginawa na siyang pinuno para sa kanyang mga mamamayan, dahil hindi ka sumunod sa utos ng Panginoon.”
15Pagkatapos, umalis si Samuel sa Gilgal at pumunta sa Gibea, na sakop ng Benjamin. Binilang ni Saul ang mga natira niyang tauhan – 600 lahat.

16Nagkampo si Saul, ang anak niyang si Jonatan, at ang mga natitira pa niyang tauhan sa Geba, na sakop ng Benjamin, habang ang mga Filisteo naman ay nagkakampo sa Micmash. 17Nagtatlong grupo ang mga Filisteo sa kanilang pagsalakay. Ang isang grupoʼy pumunta sa Ofra, sa lupain ng Shual. 18Ang isang grupoʼy sa Bet Horon, at ang isaʼy pumunta sa hangganan kung saan matatanaw ang Lambak ng Zeboim na papunta sa disyerto.19Nang mga panahong iyon, walang panday sa buong Israel. Hindi sila pinayagan ng mga Filisteo dahil sinabi nila, “Baka gumawa ng mga espada at sibat ang mga Hebreo.” 20Kaya kinakailangan pa ng mga Israelitang pumunta sa mga Filisteo kung maghahasa sila ng kanilang talim ng araro, piko, palakol at karit. 21At mahal ang singil sa kanila. Ang bayad sa pagpapahasa ng araro at piko ay dalawang pirasong pilak at sa pagpapahasa ng palakol at talim ng pantaboy sa hayop ay isang pirasong pilak. 22Kaya nang araw ng digmaan, wala ni isang sundalo sa Israel ang may espada at sibat maliban kina Saul at Jonatan. 23Samantala, nagpadala ang mga Filisteo ng mga sundalo para bantayan ang daanan papuntang Micmash.

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
