1Nang oras na kukunin na ng Panginoon si Elias para dalhin sa langit sa pamamagitan ng isang ipu-ipo, naglalakad sina Elias at Eliseo galing sa Gilgal. 2Sinabi ni Elias kay Eliseo, “Maiwan ka na lang dito, dahil pinapapunta ako ng Panginoon sa Betel.” Pero sinabi ni Eliseo, “Sumusumpa ako sa buhay na Panginoon at sa iyo, hindi kita iiwan.” Kaya pumunta sila sa Betel.3May grupo ng mga propeta roon sa Betel na pumunta kay Eliseo at nagtanong, “Alam mo bang kukunin na ng Panginoon ang guro ▼

5Muli, may grupo ng mga propeta roon sa Jerico na pumunta kay Eliseo at nagtanong, “Alam mo bang kukunin na ng Panginoon ang guro mo sa araw na ito?” Sumagot si Eliseo, “Oo, alam ko, pero huwag na nating pag-usapan.” 6Pagkatapos, sinabi ni Elias kay Eliseo, “Maiwan ka na lang dito, dahil pinapapunta ako ng Panginoon sa Ilog ng Jordan.” Sumagot si Eliseo, “Sumusumpa ako sa buhay na Panginoon at sa iyo, hindi kita iiwan.” Kaya nagpatuloy silang dalawa sa paglalakad.
7May 50 miyembro ng mga propeta na nakatayo sa unahan, at nakaharap sila sa lugar na hinintuan nina Elias at Eliseo sa ilog ng Jordan.
8Hinubad ni Elias ang balabal niya, inirolyo ito at inihampas sa tubig. Nahawi ang tubig at tumawid silang dalawa sa tuyong lupa. 9Pagkatawid nila, sinabi ni Elias kay Eliseo, “Bago ako kunin sa iyo, sabihin mo sa akin kung ano ang gusto mong gawin ko para sa iyo.” Sumagot si Eliseo, “Gusto kong ipamana mo sa akin ang dobleng bahagi ng iyong kapangyarihan.” ▼
▼Gusto … iyong kapangyarihan: Maaaring ang ibig sabihin, nais ni Eliseo na bigyan siya ng kapangyarihan na doble kaysa sa ibinigay niya sa ibang mga propeta, upang siya ang pumalit kay Elias bilang pinuno ng mga propeta.
10Sinabi ni Elias, “Mahirap ang hinihiling mo. Pero, matatanggap mo ito kung makikita mo ako habang kinukuha sa harap mo, kung hindi mo ako makikita, hindi mo matatanggap ang hinihiling mo.” 11Habang naglalakad sila na nagkukwentuhan, biglang may dumating na karwaheng apoy na hinihila ng mga kabayong apoy. Dumaan ito sa gitna nila na nagpahiwalay sa kanila, at biglang dinala si Elias papuntang langit sa pamamagitan ng isang ipu-ipo. 12– 13Nakita ito ni Eliseo at sumigaw siya, “Ama ko! Ama ko! Ang mga karwahe at mangangabayo ng Israel!” At hindi na niya nakita si Elias. Pagkatapos, pinunit niya ang kanyang damit bilang pagpapakita ng kalungkutan niya. Dinampot niya ang balabal ni Elias na nahulog, at bumalik siya sa tabi ng Ilog ng Jordan at tumayo roon. 14Hinampas niya ang tubig ng balabal ni Elias at sinabi, “Nasaan na ang Panginoon, ang Dios ni Elias?” Nang ginawa niya iyon, nahawi ang tubig at tumawid siya. 15Nang makita ito ng grupo ng mga propeta na galing sa Jerico, sinabi nila, “Ang kapangyarihan ni Elias ay sumasakanya.” Kaya sinalubong nila si Eliseo at yumukod sila bilang paggalang sa kanya. 16Sinabi nila, “May kasama kaming 50 malalakas na tao. Hayaan mong hanapin nila ang guro mo. Baka dinala lang siya ng Espiritu ng Panginoon sa isang bundok o sa isang lambak.” Sumagot si Eliseo, “Huwag na ninyo silang paalisin.” 17Pero nagpumilit sila hanggang sa nahiya na lang siya na tumanggi. Sinabi niya, “Sige, paalisin ninyo sila.” Kaya pinaalis nila ang 50 tao at sa loob ng tatlong araw ay hinanap nila si Elias, pero hindi nila ito nakita. 18Pagbalik nila kay Eliseo, na nasa Jerico pa, sinabi ni Eliseo sa kanila, “Hindi baʼt sinabi ko sa inyo na huwag na kayong umalis?”

19Ang mga tao sa lungsod ng Jerico ay nagsabi kay Eliseo, “Ginoo, nakita naman po ninyo na mabuti ang kinatatayuan ng aming lugar, pero marumi ang tubig at hindi tinutubuan ng pananim ang lupa.” ▼▼hindi tinutubuan ng pananim ang lupa: sa literal, ang mga nagbubuntis ay nakukunan.
20Sinabi ni Eliseo, “Dalhan ninyo ako ng bagong mangkok at lagyan ito ng asin.” Kaya siyaʼy dinalhan nila nito. 21Pumunta siya sa bukal at inihagis doon ang asin at sinabi, “Ito ang sinasabi ng Panginoon: Lilinis ang tubig na ito. At mula ngayon, hindi na ito magiging sanhi ng kamatayan o hindi pagtubo ng mga pananim.” ▼▼hindi pagtubo ng mga pananim: o, makukunan ang mga buntis.
22Mula noon, naging malinis na ang tubig, ayon sa sinabi ni Eliseo na mangyayari. 23Umalis si Eliseo sa Jerico at pumunta sa Betel. Habang naglalakad siya sa daan, may mga kabataan na nanggaling sa isang bayan at ininsulto siya. Sinabi nila, “Umakyat ka, panot! Umakyat ka, panot!” 24Lumingon si Eliseo, tinitigan niya ang mga ito at isinumpa sa pangalan ng Panginoon. Pagkatapos, may dalawang babaeng oso na lumabas galing sa gubat at pinagluray-luray ang 42 kabataan. 25Mula roon, pumunta si Eliseo sa Bundok ng Carmel at pagkatapos ay bumalik siya sa Samaria.

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
