Naglaban ang Israel at ang Moab
1Naging hari ng Israel ang anak ni Ahab na si Joram nang ika-18 taon ng paghahari ni Jehoshafat sa Juda. Sa Samaria tumira si Joram, at naghari siya sa loob ng 12 taon. 2Masama ang ginawa niya sa paningin ng Panginoon, pero hindi kasinsama ng ginawa ng kanyang ama at ina. Ipinagiba niya ang alaalang bato na ipinatayo ng kanyang ama sa pagpaparangal kay Baal. 3Pero ginawa rin niya ang mga kasalanang ginawa ni Jeroboam na anak ni Nebat at ito ang naging dahilan ng pagkakasala ng mga taga-Israel. Hindi niya tinalikuran ang mga kasalanang ito.4Si Haring Mesha ng Moab ay nag-aalaga ng mga tupa. Taun-taon ay nagbibigay siya sa hari ng Israel ng 100,000 batang tupa at balahibo ng 100,000 lalaking tupa dahil sakop ng Israel ang bansa nila. 5Pero pagkamatay ni Ahab, nagrebelde siya sa hari ng Israel. 6Nang panahong iyon, tinipon ni Joram ang buong Israel at umalis sila sa Samaria para lusubin ang Moab. 7Nagpadala siya ng ganitong mensahe kay Haring Jehoshafat ng Juda: “Nagrebelde sa akin ang hari ng Moab. Sasama ka ba sa akin para makipaglaban sa kanila?” Sumagot si Jehoshafat, “Oo, sasama ako sa iyo. Handa akong sumama sa iyo at handa akong ipagamit sa iyo ang mga sundaloʼt mga kabayo ko.” 8Nagtanong si Jehoshafat, “Saan tayo dadaan kung lulusob tayo?” Sumagot si Joram, “Sa ilang ng Edom.”
9Kaya lumakad ang hari ng Israel, ang hari ng Juda at ang hari ng Edom. Pagkatapos ng pitong araw nilang paglalakad, naubusan ng tubig ang mga sundalo at ang mga hayop nila. 10Sinabi ng hari ng Israel, “Ano ang gagawin natin? Ipinatawag ba tayong tatlo ng Panginoon para ibigay lang sa kamay ng hari ng Moab?” 11Kaya nagtanong si Jehoshafat, “Wala bang propeta ng Panginoon dito para makapagtanong tayo sa Panginoon sa pamamagitan niya?” Sumagot ang isang opisyal ng hari ng Israel, “Si Eliseo na anak ni Shafat ay nandito. Dati siyang lingkod ni Elias.” 12Sinabi ni Jehoshafat, “Ang salita ng Panginoon ay sumasakanya.” Kaya pumunta si Jehoshafat ang hari ng Israel, at ang hari ng Edom kay Eliseo.
13Sinabi ni Eliseo sa hari ng Israel, “Ano ang pakialam natin sa isaʼt isa? Pumunta kayo sa mga propeta ng inyong ama at ina!” Sinabi ng hari ng Israel, “Hindi! Dahil ang Panginoon ang nagdala sa aming tatlo upang ibigay lang sa kamay ng mga Moabita.” 14Sinabi ni Eliseo, “Nagsasabi ako ng katotohanan sa presensya ng buhay at Makapangyarihang Panginoon, na aking pinaglilingkuran, na hindi kita papansinin kung hindi lang dahil sa paggalang ko kay Haring Jehoshafat ng Juda. 15Ngayon, dalhan nʼyo ako ng taong marunong tumugtog ng alpa.”
Habang pinapatugtog ang alpa, napuspos ng kapangyarihan ng Panginoon si Eliseo, 16at sinabi niya, “Sinabi ng Panginoon na magkakaroon ng maraming tubig sa lambak na ito. 17Kahit na walang ulan o hangin, mapupuno pa rin ng tubig ang lambak na ito, at makakainom kayo at ang inyong mga baka at ang iba pa ninyong mga hayop. 18Madali lang ang bagay na ito para sa Panginoon. Ibibigay din niya ang Moab sa inyong mga kamay. 19Pupuksain ninyo ang bawat napapaderang lungsod at pangunahing bayan nila. Puputulin ninyo ang magaganda nilang puno, tatakpan ang kanilang mga bukal at sisirain ang sagana nilang bukirin sa pamamagitan ng mga bato.” 20Kinaumagahan, sa oras ng paghahandog, umagos ang tubig mula sa Edom at napuno ng tubig ang lupa.
21Pagkatapos, nabalitaan ng lahat ng Moabita na lulusubin sila ng mga hari. Kaya tinipon nila ang lahat ng kalalakihan, bata man o matanda, na may kakayahan sa pakikipaglaban at pinapwesto sila sa hangganan ng Moab. 22Nang maagang bumangon ang mga Moabita, nakita nilang kasing pula ng dugo ang tubig nang masikatan ito ng araw. 23Sinabi nila, “Dugo iyan! Siguradong naglaban-laban ang tatlong hari at nagpatayan. Kaya samsamin natin ang mga ari-arian nila!”
24Pero pagdating ng mga Moabita sa kampo ng Israel, lumabas ang mga Israelita at nilusob sila hanggang sa silaʼy magsitakas. Sinalakay nila ang lupain ng mga Moabita at pinagpapatay sila. 25Winasak nila ang mga bayan, hinagisan ng mga bato ang bawat magagandang bukirin hanggang sa itoʼy matabunan. Pinagtatakpan nila ang mga bukal at pinagpuputol ang magagandang puno. Ang Kir Hareset na lang ang natira, pero pinalibutan din sila ng mga lalaking may dalang tirador at nilusob.
26Nang makita ng hari ng Moab na natatalo na sila sa labanan, dinala niya ang 700 tao na may mga espada para hawiin ang mga sundalo ng hari ng Edom at makatakas, pero nabigo sila. 27Kaya kinuha niya ang panganay niyang anak na papalit sana sa kanya bilang hari, at inialay niya ito sa may pader bilang handog na sinusunog. When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
