Si Jesus at si Juan na Tagapagbautismo
(Luc. 7:18-35)
1Matapos turuan ni Jesus ang kanyang 12 tagasunod, umalis siya sa lugar na iyon upang magturo at mangaral sa mga karatig lugar.2Nang nasa bilangguan si Juan na tagapagbautismo, narinig niya ang mga ginagawa ni Jesus, kaya inutusan niya ang kanyang mga tagasunod 3upang tanungin si Jesus, “Kayo na po ba ang inaasahan naming darating o maghihintay pa kami ng iba?” 4Sumagot si Jesus sa kanila, “Bumalik kayo kay Juan at sabihin sa kanya ang narinig at nakita ninyo: 5Nakakakita ang mga bulag, nakakalakad ang mga lumpo, gumagaling ang mga may malubhang sakit sa balat, nakakarinig ang mga bingi, muling nabubuhay ang mga patay, at ipinangangaral sa mga mahihirap ang Magandang Balita. 6Mapalad ang taong hindi nagdududa ▼

sa akin.” 7Pagkaalis ng mga tagasunod ni Juan, nagtanong si Jesus sa mga tao, “Noong pumunta kayo kay Juan sa ilang, ano ang inaasahan ninyong makita? Isa bang taong tulad ng talahib na humahapay sa ihip ng hangin? 8Pumunta ba kayo roon para makita ang isang taong magara ang pananamit? Ang mga taong magara ang pananamit ay sa palasyo ninyo makikita. 9Pumunta kayo roon para makita ang isang propeta, hindi ba? Totoo, isa nga siyang propeta. At sinasabi ko sa inyo, higit pa siya sa isang propeta. 10Siya ang binabanggit ng Dios sa Kasulatan, ‘Ipapadala ko ang aking mensahero. Mauuna siya sa iyo upang ihanda ang dadaanan mo.’ ▼

11Sinasabi ko sa inyo ang totoo, walang taong isinilang na mas dakila pa kay Juan. Ngunit mas dakila kaysa sa kanya ang pinakahamak sa mga taong kabilang sa kaharian ng Dios. 12Mula nang mangaral si Juan hanggang ngayon, nagpupumilit ang mga tao na mapabilang sa kaharian ng Dios. ▼▼May ibaʼt ibang interpretasyon sa talatang ito.
13Sapagkat bago pa dumating si Juan, ipinahayag na ng lahat ng propeta at ng Kautusan ni Moises ang tungkol sa paghahari ng Dios. 14At kung naniniwala kayo sa mga pahayag nila, si Juan na nga ang Elias na inaasahan ninyong darating. 15Kayong mga nakikinig, dapat ninyo itong pag-isipan!” ▼▼sa literal, Ang may tainga ay dapat makinig!
16“Sa anong bagay ko maihahambing ang henerasyong ito? Katulad sila ng mga batang nakaupo sa plasa na sinasabi sa kanilang kalaro, 17‘Tinugtugan namin kayo ng tugtuging pangkasal, ▼

pero hindi kayo sumayaw! Umawit kami ng awit para sa patay, pero hindi kayo umiyak!’ 18Katulad nga nila ang mga tao ngayon, dahil nang dumating dito si Juan, nakita nilang nag-aayuno siya at hindi umiinom ng alak, kaya sinabi nila, ‘Sinasaniban siya ng masamang espiritu.’ 19At nang dumating naman ako, na Anak ng Tao, nakita nilang kumakain ako at umiinom, at sinabi naman nila, ‘Ang taong iyan ay matakaw at lasenggo, at kaibigan ng mga maniningil ng buwis at ng iba pang makasalanan.’ Ganoon pa man, ang mga taong sumusunod sa kalooban ng Dios ay sumasang-ayon na tama ang ipinapagawa ng Dios sa amin.” ▼▼Ganoon pa man … sa amin: o, Ganoon pa man, ang karunungan na ipinangangaral namin ay napatunayang totoo sa buhay ng mga taong tumanggap nito.
Babala sa mga Bayang Hindi Nagsisisi

20Pagkatapos, tinuligsa ni Jesus ang mga bayang nakasaksi ng maraming himala na kanyang ginawa, dahil hindi sila nagsisi sa kanilang mga kasalanan. 21Sinabi niya, “Nakakaawa kayong mga taga-Corazin! Nakakaawa rin kayong mga taga-Betsaida! Sapagkat kung sa Tyre at Sidon naganap ang mga himalang ginawa ko sa inyo, matagal na sana silang nagsuot ng sako at naglagay ng abo sa kanilang ulo ▼▼naglagay ng abo sa kanilang ulo: o, naupo sa abo.

Sapagkat kung sa Sodom nangyari ang mga himalang ginawa sa inyo, nananatili pa sana ang lugar na iyon hanggang ngayon. 24Kaya tandaan ninyo na sa Araw ng Paghuhukom, mas mabigat na parusa ang tatanggapin ninyo kaysa sa mga taga-Sodom.” May Kapahingahan kay Jesus

25Nang oras ding iyon, sinabi ni Jesus, “Pinupuri kita Ama, Panginoon ng langit at lupa, dahil inilihim mo ang mga katotohanang ito sa mga taong ang akala sa sarili ay marurunong at matatalino, pero inihayag mo sa mga taong tulad ng bata na kaunti lang ang nalalaman. 26Oo, Ama, pinupuri kita dahil iyon ang kalooban mo.”27 Pagkatapos, sinabi niya sa mga tao, “Ibinigay sa akin ng aking Ama ang lahat ng bagay. Walang nakakakilala sa Anak kundi ang Ama, at walang nakakakilala sa Ama kundi ang Anak at ang mga taong nais ng Anak na makakilala sa Ama.
28“Lumapit kayo sa akin, kayong lahat na nahihirapan at nabibigatan sa inyong pasanin, at bibigyan ko kayo ng kapahingahan. 29Sundin ninyo ang mga utos ko at matuto kayo sa akin, dahil mabait ako at mababang-loob. Makakapagpahinga kayo, 30dahil madaling sundin ang aking mga utos, at magaan ang aking mga ipinapagawa.”

How do I do a word study?

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
