อับซาโลมกลับมาเยรูซาเล็ม
1ครั้นโยอาบบุตรนางเศรุยาห์ทราบว่ากษัตริย์ทรงคิดถึงอับซาโลมมาก 2เขาจึงใช้คนไปตามตัวหญิงฉลาดคนหนึ่งจากเทโคอาให้มาพบและกล่าวกับนางว่า “จงแกล้งทำเป็นว่าเจ้าไว้ทุกข์อยู่ สวมเสื้อผ้าไว้ทุกข์ ไม่ใช้เครื่องประทินโฉม ทำทีว่าเจ้าเศร้าโศกเสียใจอย่างหนักมาหลายวันเพราะคนตาย 3แล้วไปเข้าเฝ้ากษัตริย์ กราบทูลตามที่เราสั่ง” แล้วโยอาบก็สอนคำพูดให้หญิงนั้น4เมื่อหญิงจากเทโคอามาเข้าเฝ้าดาวิด ก็หมอบซบลงที่พื้นถวายคำนับและทูลว่า “ข้าแต่กษัตริย์โปรดทรงช่วยหม่อมฉันด้วยเถิด”
5กษัตริย์ตรัสถามว่า “เจ้ามีเรื่องทุกข์ร้อนอะไรหรือ?”
นางทูลว่า “หม่อมฉันเป็นม่าย สามีตายไปแล้ว 6มีลูกชายสองคน เขาทะเลาะกันที่กลางทุ่ง เนื่องจากไม่มีคนคอยห้ามเขา คนหนึ่งก็เลยถูกฆ่าตาย 7ตอนนี้ญาติพี่น้องทั้งหมดเรียกร้องให้หม่อมฉันมอบตัวลูกชายเพื่อนำตัวไปประหารโทษฐานฆ่าคน จะได้กำจัดทายาทไป พวกเขาจะดับถ่านไฟก้อนเดียวที่หม่อมฉันเหลืออยู่ เห็นทีสามีหม่อมฉันจะไร้ผู้สืบสกุลเป็นแน่”
8ดาวิดตรัสกับหญิงนั้นว่า “จงกลับไปบ้าน เราจะสั่งการให้เจ้า”
9แต่หญิงจากเทโคอาทูลว่า “ข้าแต่กษัตริย์ เจ้านายของหม่อมฉันขอให้คำตำหนิตกอยู่ที่หม่อมฉันและครอบครัวของบิดาของหม่อมฉัน ส่วนกษัตริย์และราชบัลลังก์ขอให้พ้นมลทินทั้งปวง”
10ดาวิดตรัสว่า “หากผู้ใดกล่าวอะไรกับเจ้า จงนำตัวเขามาพบเรา เขาจะไม่มากวนใจเจ้าอีกเลย”
11นางทูลว่า “ขอฝ่าพระบาทตรัสในพระนามพระยาห์เวห์พระเจ้าของเขา อย่าให้มีการสูญเสียเลือดเนื้ออีกนอกเหนือจากที่ได้สูญเสียไปแล้ว ลูกชายของหม่อมฉันจะได้ไม่ต้องเสียชีวิต”
ดาวิดตรัสว่า “องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าทรงพระชนม์อยู่แน่ฉันใด ผมสักเส้นบนหัวลูกชายของเจ้า เราก็จะไม่ยอมให้ตกถึงดินฉันนั้น”
12นางทูลว่า “โปรดทรงอนุญาตให้หม่อมฉันทูลสักคำ”
ดาวิดตรัสตอบว่า “พูดมาเถิด”
13หญิงนั้นทูลว่า “ก็แล้วทำไมฝ่าพระบาททรงทำเช่นนี้ต่อประชากรของพระเจ้า? เมื่อฝ่าพระบาทตรัสเช่นนี้ เท่ากับตัดสินว่าฝ่าพระบาทเองเป็นฝ่ายผิด เพราะฝ่าพระบาทไม่ทรงยอมให้ราชโอรสที่ถูกเนรเทศไปนั้นกลับมา 14คนเราล้วนต้องตายไปเหมือนน้ำหกรดแผ่นดิน จะรวบรวมคืนมาอีกไม่ได้ แต่พระเจ้าไม่ได้ทรงริบเอาชีวิตไป แต่ทรงคิดหาหนทางไม่ให้คนที่ถูกเนรเทศไปต้องถูกตัดขาดจากพระองค์
15“ที่หม่อมฉันมาทูลฝ่าพระบาทก็เพราะมีคนมาข่มขู่ หม่อมฉันบอกตัวเองว่า ‘หม่อมฉันจะทูลกษัตริย์ บางทีพระองค์อาจจะทำตามที่ผู้รับใช้ทูลขอ 16บางทีกษัตริย์อาจจะทรงเห็นชอบที่จะช่วยผู้รับใช้ของพระองค์ให้พ้นจากมือของคนที่พยายามตัดหม่อมฉันกับลูกจากมรดกที่พระเจ้าประทานแก่พวกหม่อมฉัน’
17“และบัดนี้ผู้รับใช้ของฝ่าพระบาทขอทูลว่า ‘พระดำรัสของฝ่าพระบาททำให้หม่อมฉันสบายใจ เพราะฝ่าพระบาทเป็นเสมือนทูตของพระเจ้าที่แยกแยะความดีจากความชั่ว ขอพระยาห์เวห์พระเจ้าของฝ่าพระบาทสถิตกับฝ่าพระบาทเถิด’ ”
18แล้วกษัตริย์ตรัสกับหญิงนั้นว่า “อย่าปิดบัง เราจะถามอะไรเจ้าสักอย่างหนึ่ง”
นางทูลว่า “โปรดตรัสเถิด”
19ดาวิดตรัสว่า “ทั้งหมดนี้โยอาบเป็นผู้หนุนหลังเจ้าใช่หรือไม่?”
หญิงนั้นทูลว่า “ข้าแต่กษัตริย์ เจ้านายของหม่อมฉัน ฝ่าพระบาททรงพระชนม์อยู่แน่ฉันใด ไม่มีใครสามารถพลิกซ้ายหันขวาจากสิ่งใดๆ ที่ฝ่าพระบาทตรัสได้ฉันนั้น ถูกแล้วโยอาบผู้รับใช้ของฝ่าพระบาทคือผู้สอนให้หม่อมฉันทำตามนี้ และแนะนำทุกถ้อยคำที่ออกจากปากของหม่อมฉัน 20โยอาบผู้รับใช้ของฝ่าพระบาททำเช่นนี้เพื่อพลิกสถานการณ์ ฝ่าพระบาททรงพระปรีชาเสมือนทูตของพระเจ้า และทรงทราบเหตุการณ์ทุกอย่างในแผ่นดิน”
21กษัตริย์จึงตรัสกับโยอาบว่า “ดีมาก เราจะทำตามนั้น จงไปรับตัวอับซาโลมชายหนุ่มคนนั้นกลับมาเถิด”
22โยอาบก็หมอบกราบซบหน้าลงกับพื้นถวายคำนับ ถวายพระพรและทูลว่า “บัดนี้ข้าพระบาททราบแล้วว่า ฝ่าพระบาททรงกรุณาข้าพระบาท เพราะทรงให้ตามที่ข้าพระบาททูลขอ”
23โยอาบจึงไปยังเกชูร์และรับตัวอับซาโลมกลับมายังเยรูซาเล็ม 24แต่กษัตริย์ตรัสว่า “ให้เขาไปอยู่ที่ตำหนักของเขา อย่ามาให้เราเห็นหน้า” อับซาโลมจึงไปพำนักที่ตำหนักของตนและไม่ได้เข้าเฝ้ากษัตริย์
25ทั่วอิสราเอลไม่มีใครได้รับคำชมว่าเป็นชายชาตรีรูปงามเท่าอับซาโลม ตั้งแต่เส้นผมจดปลายเท้าไม่มีตำหนิเลยแม้แต่น้อย 26เมื่อใดที่ผมของเขาหนักมาก เขาก็จะตัดออกมาชั่งดู ผมนั้นหนักประมาณ 2.3 กิโลกรัม ▼

28ตลอดสองปีที่อับซาโลมอยู่ในเยรูซาเล็ม เขาไม่ได้เข้าเฝ้ากษัตริย์เลย 29อับซาโลมจึงให้คนไปตามตัวโยอาบมาเพื่อให้เข้าเฝ้ากษัตริย์แทน แต่โยอาบไม่ยอมมา แม้อับซาโลมให้คนไปตามอีก เขาก็ยังคงไม่มา 30อับซาโลมจึงสั่งบริวารว่า “ไปจุดไฟเผานาข้าวบาร์เลย์ของโยอาบที่อยู่ถัดจากเราไป” เขาก็ปฏิบัติตาม
31โยอาบจึงมาพบอับซาโลมที่ตำหนัก และเรียนว่า “เหตุใดบริวารของท่านไปจุดไฟเผานาของข้าพเจ้า?”
32อับซาโลมกล่าวกับโยอาบว่า “เราส่งคนไปหาท่านและกล่าวว่า ‘มาที่นี่เถิด จะได้ให้ท่านช่วยไปทูลถามกษัตริย์ว่า “ทรงรับตัวอับซาโลมกลับมาจากเกชูร์ทำไม เขาอยู่ที่นั่นยังดีเสียกว่า!”’ เราต้องการเข้าเฝ้ากษัตริย์สักครั้ง หากเราผิดด้วยเรื่องใดก็ให้พระองค์ประหารเราเถิด”

How do I do a word study?

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
