5และองค์ที่หกคือ อิทเรอัมบุตรนางเอกลาห์
ราชโอรสเหล่านี้ของดาวิดประสูติที่เมืองเฮโบรน
อับเนอร์มาอยู่ฝ่ายดาวิด
6ขณะที่การสู้รบระหว่างฝ่ายวงศ์วานของซาอูลกับฝ่ายดาวิดดำเนินไป อับเนอร์ก็ขยายอิทธิพลมากขึ้นเรื่อยๆ ในฝ่ายวงศ์วานของซาอูล7ซาอูลมีสนมคนหนึ่งชื่อริสปาห์บุตรสาวของอัยยาห์ และอิชโบเชทตรัสถามอับเนอร์ว่า “เหตุใดท่านจึงหลับนอนกับสนมของเสด็จพ่อ?”
8คำพูดนี้ทำให้อับเนอร์โกรธจัดจึงตอบว่า “ข้าพระบาทเป็นสุนัขรับใช้ยูดาห์หรือ? ข้าพระบาทยังคงจงรักภักดีต่อซาอูลราชบิดาของฝ่าพระบาท และราชวงศ์กับพระสหายมาจนถึงบัดนี้ ข้าพระบาทไม่ได้มอบฝ่าพระบาทให้กับดาวิด แต่บัดนี้ฝ่าพระบาททรงกล่าวหาข้าพระบาทด้วยเรื่องผู้หญิงคนนี้! 9ขอพระเจ้าทรงจัดการกับข้าพระบาทอย่างสาหัส หากข้าพระบาทไม่ช่วยดาวิดให้ลุล่วงตามพระสัญญาที่องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าทรงปฏิญาณไว้กับเขา 10และย้ายอาณาจักรจากราชวงศ์ซาอูล มาสถาปนาราชบัลลังก์ดาวิดขึ้นเหนืออิสราเอลและยูดาห์ จากดานจดเบเออร์เชบา” 11อิชโบเชททรงไม่กล้าโต้ตอบประการใดเพราะกลัวอับเนอร์
12แล้วอับเนอร์ส่งตัวแทนไปทูลดาวิดว่า “แผ่นดินนี้เป็นของใคร? หากทรงทำข้อตกลงกับข้าพระบาท ข้าพระบาทก็จะช่วยนำอิสราเอลทั้งหมดมาสวามิภักดิ์ต่อฝ่าพระบาท”
13ดาวิดตรัสว่า “ดี เราจะทำข้อตกลงกับท่าน แต่มีข้อแม้ว่าท่านต้องนำตัวมีคาลราชธิดาของซาอูลมาด้วยเมื่อท่านมาพบเรา” 14แล้วดาวิดจึงทรงใช้ผู้สื่อสารไปทูลเรียกร้องกับอิชโบเชทราชโอรสของซาอูลว่า “จงคืนตัวมีคาลมเหสีของเรา ซึ่งเราได้ใช้หนังปลายองคชาติของชาวฟีลิสเตียร้อยคนสู่ขอนางมา”
15อิชโบเชทจึงตรัสสั่งให้ชิงตัวมีคาลจากสามีของนางคือปัลทีเอลบุตรลาอิช 16ปัลทีเอลเดินตามนางมาจนถึงบาฮูริมและร้องไห้มาตลอดทาง อับเนอร์จึงกล่าวแก่เขาว่า “กลับบ้านไป!” เขาก็กลับ
17อับเนอร์เกลี้ยกล่อมบรรดาผู้อาวุโสของอิสราเอลว่า “พวกท่านก็อยากให้ดาวิดเป็นกษัตริย์มาตั้งนานแล้ว 18ก็จงทำเดี๋ยวนี้! เพราะองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าทรงสัญญากับดาวิดไว้ว่า ‘ดาวิดนี่แหละคือผู้ที่เราจะใช้ให้กอบกู้ประชากรอิสราเอลของเราจากมือชาวฟีลิสเตียและจากศัตรูทั้งปวง’ ”
19อับเนอร์ยังได้พูดกับชนตระกูลเบนยามินด้วย แล้วเขาก็เดินทางมายังเมืองเฮโบรนเพื่อทูลทุกสิ่งทุกอย่างที่อิสราเอลและตระกูลเบนยามินต้องการจะทำแก่ดาวิด 20เมื่ออับเนอร์พร้อมคนยี่สิบคนมาเข้าเฝ้าดาวิดที่เมืองเฮโบรน ดาวิดทรงจัดงานเลี้ยงให้เขาเหล่านั้น 21อับเนอร์จึงทูลดาวิดว่า “ข้าพระบาทจะไปรวบรวมอิสราเอลทั้งหมดมาเพื่อฝ่าพระบาท พวกเขาจะได้ถวายสัตยาบัน และฝ่าพระบาทจะได้ทรงปกครองทุกคนตามชอบพระทัย” ดาวิดจึงทรงส่งอับเนอร์กลับไปโดยสวัสดิภาพ

26โยอาบจึงทูลลาแล้วส่งคนตามอับเนอร์ไปทันที่บ่อสีราห์ อับเนอร์ก็กลับมาพร้อมกับพวกนั้นแต่ดาวิดไม่ทรงทราบเรื่องนี้ 27เมื่ออับเนอร์มาถึงเมืองเฮโบรน โยอาบดึงตัวเขามาข้างประตูเมือง ทำเหมือนมีเรื่องจะคุยเป็นการส่วนตัว แต่แล้วโยอาบก็แทงท้องอับเนอร์ตาย เป็นการแก้แค้นแทนอาสาเฮลน้องชายของตน
28เมื่อดาวิดทรงทราบเรื่องจึงตรัสว่า “ต่อหน้าองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้า เรากับอาณาจักรของเราไม่ได้มีส่วนเกี่ยวข้องใดๆ กับการตายของอับเนอร์บุตรเนอร์ 29ขอให้ความผิดครั้งนี้ตกแก่โยอาบและวงศ์ตระกูลของเขา! ขอให้วงศ์ตระกูลของเขามีคนที่เป็นแผลพุพองหรือโรคเรื้อน ▼

33ดาวิดทรงขับร้องบทคร่ำครวญสำหรับอับเนอร์ว่า
“ควรหรือที่อับเนอร์ต้องมาตายเยี่ยงคนเถื่อน?
34มือของท่านไม่ได้ถูกมัด
เท้าของท่านไม่ได้ถูกจองจำ
ท่านล้มลงดั่งผู้ที่ล้มต่อหน้าคนชั่ว”

35แล้วพวกเขามาทูลดาวิดให้ทรงยอมเสวยพระกระยาหารบ้างขณะที่ยังกลางวันอยู่ แต่ดาวิดตรัสสาบานว่า “ขอพระเจ้าทรงจัดการกับเราอย่างหนัก หากเรากินขนมปังหรือสิ่งอื่นใดก่อนดวงอาทิตย์ลับฟ้า!”

How do I do a word study?

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
